RHP Sean McLaughlin took the tough luck loss after allowing an unearned run in the finale frame. In all, McLaughlin (2-2, 1.86) struck out two and allowed three hits over two innings pitched. ABOUT THE LAST ONE: Last night s extra innings loss to the Pelicans was the longest game in both innings (14) and game time (4:08) for the Mudcats this season. The Mudcats last played a four hour game on 8/24/13 (12 innings, 4:01) in Zebulon against the Salem Red Sox. The longest game (innings) in Mudcats franchise history was an 18 innings battle between the Mudcats and Orlando Cubs on 4/26/95 in Zebulon (W, 6-5). The longest game time for a Mudcats game in team history is five hours and 34 minutes and happened on 8/12/95 vs. Port City (W, 12-11, 17 innings) in Zebulon. TWIN BILLS GALORE: The Mudcats were rained out twice in their most recent trip to Wilmington, including Monday s finale and last Saturday night. Saturday s postponement was made up as part of doubleheader on Sunday afternoon where the Mudcats finished with a split against the Blue Rocks. Sunday s twin bill was Carolina s league high fifth so far this season. The Mudcats have made up five of their eight total rainouts so far this season, but have three more doubleheaders (6/14 in Lynchburg, 6/16 vs. Wilmington and 6/18 vs. Wilmington) left on their first half schedule. All but one of their eight postponements has occurred on the road this season. Carolina is currently 3-7 in doubleheaders this season. They were 8-14 in doubleheaders last season, 6-8 in 2014, 7-10 in 2013 and 5-9 in ON TO THE NEXT ONE: The Mudcats continue a seven game home stand tonight with game two of a three game series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Carolina is coming off a 2-6 road trip through Potomac and Wilmington and currently sit in third place behind the Salem Red Sox and the Pelicans in the Carolina League Northern Division Standings. The Mudcats are and 13.0 games back of first place Salem. They are also 7.5 games back of second place Myrtle Beach. The Pelicans enter tonight s game at and at 6.0 games out of first. STARTING OFF: RHP Wes Parsons starts for the Mudcats in tonight s game against the Pelicans. Parsons has not yet earned a decision this season and has pitched to a 4.73 ERA over 11 games and three starts so far in He is 0-0 with a 4.05 ERA over three starts this season and last pitched on 5/19 in Potomac where he struck out a season high six batters. Parsons worked into the fifth his last time out and ended up allowing three runs on six hits over four and 1/3 innings pitched.
