1 COASTAL SKI & OUTING CLUB MAY Coastal Ski & Outing Club May 2018 THE BEST PLACE ON THE GRAND STRAND O President s Letter By Elena Moglia April was a busy activity month planned by Shari Davidson and Linda Jones with a wide variety of fun things to do. Unfortunately, the kayaking was postponed due to high wind but we ll get it on the calendar again soon. A fond farewell to our beloved friend Tom Middleton. His Celebration of Life Party at Whiskey Beach drew a huge crowd to celebrate his life and accomplishments. Tom s philosophy on life which he lived every day to the fullest was There are big ships and small ships; But the best ship of all is Friendship. Tom, Thanks for being ours! Of course, the Annual Crescent Convention concluded the month. The Sci Fi Theme was a big hit for the Saturday night event. Grey has planned some interesting events for May, so plan on signing up and giving him money at this month s meeting to secure your spot for these activities. We are kicking off May with the Annual Optimist Fundraiser which is a fun-filled Kentucky Derby Party. This year it will be bigger and better than years past as we move the event to Pine Lakes Country Club. The Event will be held in the Bar and accompanying rooms. There will be 2 races prior to the Derby, Derby Outfit and hat Awards, 50/50 and an AWESOME Silent Auction. The Auction will feature Artwork, Gift packages, Golf Rounds and much, much more. $10 gets you in the door where you will be treated to some appetizers. Happy Hour menu and drink prices will be available. Come and bring lots of friends and your check book as this event is open to all as we try to raise money to assist Horry County children. Just a friendly reminder that if you can t attend an activity that you signed up for please contact the monthly coordinator to let them know. As you attend our activities and please take photos please send pictures to Kathy Britt kathybritt555@gmail.com. We will use these pictures in our newsletters and website. Looking forward to seeing you and enjoying good times ahead!
