2 BUILDING GREAT FUTURES FOR 50 YEARS / Join us for our 50th Anniversary Celebration Saturday, June 3, 2017, 2 to 6 p.m Temple Avenue, Camarillo RELIABLE. START TO STOP AVIADOR ST UNIT L CAMARILLO MIKE & PAT McCOLLUM
3 May 13, 2017 Adolfo Camarillo High School Welcome to our Track Meet, the oldest community service project of the Camarillo Rotary Club. The Meet began in 1959, when a group of local Rotarians created an organized track and field competition for Camarillo boys and girls at the elementary and junior high school levels. There were only a few schools then, and not too many entrants, but over the years, the Meet has grown to keep pace with the community, and today, hundreds of young people representing more than a dozen local schools will compete. The Meet was named the Hap Rapp Memorial Track Meet in 1988, in honor of our late fellow Rotarian and friend Hap Rapp, who devoted so much of his time and talents to the event. Today, ribbons will be awarded for first through fifth place in each event, and high point winners in each class will receive a trophy. Another award, the Guy Craig Memorial, will be presented to the school which demonstrates the best preparedness, sportsmanship, conduct at the meet and cooperation in all events. The award, including a cash donation to the winning school, is named in honor of the late Guy Craig, charter president of the Camarillo Rotary Club. 7 CAMARILLO ROTARY MAKING A DIFFERENCE WHAT IS ROTARY? Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home and abroad. Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary members have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end. OUR MOTTO: SERVICE ABOVE SELF Our guiding principles have been the foundation of our values: service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership. Rotary members believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world s most persistent issues. Our 35,000+ clubs work together to: promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education, and grow local economies. We work differently. We see differently: Our multidisciplinary perspective helps us see challenges in unique ways. We think differently: We apply leadership and expertise to social issues and find unique solutions. We act responsibly: Our passion and perseverance create lasting change. We make a difference at home and around the world. CAMARILLO ROTARY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY Our club is committed to making a difference in our community and in our world. Our annual projects include our Viva La Comida Mexican Dinner, our Rotary Creates Magic Show, the Hap Rapp Memorial Track Meet and the Care for Kids Golf Classic. Funds raised from these events (more than $1 million over the past decade) are returned to local and international charitable causes through our Camarillo Rotary Foundation. The Foundation also awards thousands of dollars each year in scholarships to deserving high school seniors. Club of Camarillo P.O.
