There is a handicapped parking lot adjacent to that entrance. Dancers and families may unload gear at the entrance before going to park their vehicles. 6 Dancing Rules The North entrance to the Moonlight Amphitheater will be open this year, providing a level entrance to the dancing venue. There is a handicapped parking lot adjacent to the North amphitheater entrance. Canopies and umbrellas may be set up anywhere in amphitheater that is not roped off for judge. 1. This competition is governed by SOBHD and FUSTA rules. 2. All dancers must be registered with FUSTA, ScotDance or SOBHD Worldwide, and present their 2011 registration card on each day of the competition that they are competing in. Registration Number MUST be on Entry Form, or the entry will be rejected. Exceptions: Changes in class or new Beginners.. 3. Dancers who are registered for 2011, but do not have their valid card with them may dance. However, any awards won will be held until the dancer sends a copy of their card to the organizer, within 10 days following the competition. NEW Rule for 2011: All dancers without their valid registration cards must provide a copy of the card to the organizer within 10 days regardless of whether they won any awards. 4. Age groups will be determined after entries are received. Money prizes may be lowered based on entries. 5. Organizer reserves the right to split or combine classes the day of the competition. 6. Last to enter, first to dance rules apply. 7. The organizer reserves the right to make changes to any information and times given in the entry form if necessary. 8. Communication by a dancer or parent of a dancer with the judge or piper is not allowed and is grounds for disqualification. 9. Pre-Premier category changes must be made by June 20, Dancers not on hand when their class is called will forfeit entry on that event. 11. All winners must be in competition dress to accept awards. 12. All dance competitors, teachers, and parents are expected to comply with the FUSTA Code of Ethics. 13. Entry fee includes admission to the field. Dancer s number and admission will be mailed to each competitor in the self-addressed stamped envelope that MUST be included when entry form is sent in. 14. Entries must be POSTMARKED by June 6, Late entries will be accepted with DOUBLE FEES, but dance numbers must be picked up on the field. If certain entries are needed to form classes, double fee MAY be waived FIELD ENTRIES: Allowed at Dance Director s discretion. 15. Judge s decision is final. Any protest must be in writing, signed, and handed to the Dance Chairman by the end of the competition, accompanied by a fee of $30.00 that would be refundable if the protest is sustained. 16. In the Trophy Events, all Premier dancers 7 & Under 16 years will dance the Highland Laddie as a separate competition. All dancers 16 years and over will dance the Blue Bonnets as a separate competition. All Intermediate dancers will dance the Barracks Johnnie as a separate competition, all ages. All Beginner dancers will dance the Highland Fling as a separate competition, all ages. All Novice dancers will dance the Highland Fling as a separate competition, all ages. $2 of each entry fee will go to FUSTA Western Region. The entry fees are non-refundable. ~~ The Beginner, Novice, Intermediate and Premier Highland competitions on Saturday, and the Beginner, Novice, Intermediate and Premier Nationals competitions on Sunday are separate competitions, and separate aggregate trophies will be awarded each day. BEGINNER AND NOVICE DANCERS WILL STAY IN THE SAME CATEGORY IF COMPETING BOTH DAYS REGARDLESS OF HOW THEY PLACE, ~ All dances count for aggregate trophies each day except in Primary events, and special Trophy events.~

7 Awards Medals and Ribbons will be awarded for all winners in all Pre-Premier categories, except in Trophy Dances. The following cash awards will be given in addition to medals for all Premier age groups ages 7 and under 16 years that have at least 6 competitors: 7 and Under 12 years: 1 st - $25 2 nd - $15 3 rd - $10 4 th - $5 ; 12 and Under 14 years: 1 st - $35 2 nd - $25 3 rd - $15 4 th - $10 14 and under 16 years: 1 st - $45 2 nd - $35 3 rd - $25 4 th - $15 The following cash awards will be given in addition to medals for all Premier groups ages 7 and under 16 years that have at least 8 competitors: 7 and Under 16 years: 5 th - $10 6 th - $5 The following cash awards will be given in addition to medals for all Premier groups ages 16 years and over: 16 years and over: 1 st - $75 2 nd - $60 3 rd - $45 4 th - $30 The following cash awards will be given in addition to medals for all Premier groups ages 16 years and over that have at least 8 competitors. 16 years and over: 5 th - $15 6 th - $10 ~~~ALL CASH AWARDS MAY BE LOWERED IF THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH ENTRIES TO WARRANT THESE AMOUNTS~~~ **House of Scotland Sword Dance Award Saturday, June 25th To qualify for the House of Scotland Best Sword Dance Award, dancers must place 1 st in The Sword Dance in their respective age groups in all Premier classes on Saturday. The 1 st place winners will then dance off for this trophy. A money prize of $100 will be awarded in addition to the perpetual trophy, and a keeper award. Trophy Dances: Saturday, June 25 th Intermediate Trophy Highland Laddie: Trophy and $35 Scholarship Premier 7 and under 16 Highland Laddie: Trophy and $50 Premier 16 & Over Blue Bonnets: Trophy and $75. Sunday, June 26 th Beginner and Novice Trophy Fling: Trophy and scholarship of $25 (See Rule #16) ***Robert Lyall Lowe Memorial Scholarship Award Sunday, June 26 th A dance-off open to California residents under 7 years of age. Dancers must successfully complete 4 steps of the Highland Fling. A $25 scholarship will be awarded along with a trophy. Scholarship must be used for Highland dance expenses. **Navy League Hornpipe Award (6) Sunday June 26 th To qualify for the Navy League Award for the Best Hornpipe, dancers must place 1 st in the Hornpipe in their respective age groups in all Premier classes on Sunday. The 1 st place winners will then dance off for this trophy. A money prize of $100 will be awarded in addition to the perpetual trophy and a keeper award.
