1 Visit us on the Web at Kitty Hawk Flyer Issue No. 1 Dances are 3 rd -5 th Fridays 8:00pm 10:30pm 7:30 Good Shepherd Church 901 E. Stroop Rd Kettering, OH Inside this Issue From the President 1 From the Vice President 2 From the Chairmen 2 October & November Awards 3 January & February Calendars 4, 5 Our Officers 6 & Retrieval Information 7 Maps 8 From the President Kitty Hawks and friends. As I gather my thoughts this morning, I am reminded of what a great 2018 we have had and the many changes that have accrued in our life. We have packed away the 2017 National Convention stuff, become National Executive Committee (NEC) members and advisors to a future Indiana bid to do a national convention, finished the 58th Ohio State convention, were chosen the MVDC Honor couple, and purchased and remodeled a condo and moved. Wow!! Through all this we have many people to thank for all their support. Dancers and friends are the best support community. We could not have done all this without your help. We are very fortunate to have a great board at Kitty Hawks and they have done a great job with all the activities this past year and have many more planned for I want to give a special shout out of thanks to all of the people that make the magic happen but never get recognized. I know who you are and I do know that you are the best. These people just quietly support the club and never complain. It is all those people that make things happen. Thank you for always being there at the treasurer s table and help us keep the club afloat and providing your reports. Thanks for doing the Kitty Hawk Newsletter. (and keeping us motivated to submit articles) also a big thank you to the people that keep our raids and retrievals going and giving us that each week to keep us informed. (This is a lot of paperwork and networking to hold this all together.) Thanks to the people that text the president to remind him to take care of some detail. Thanks for always bringing food and greeting and working the kitchen. Thanks to the person that schedules our callers and cuers. (This is why we have such a great line up of talent at our dances all year long.) Thanks to all that support at the Miami Valley Dance Council meetings and report back all the news to the club. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to make us successful. We are part of a community of dancers and therefore we all need to Page 1 Kitty Hawk Flyer Issue 1

2 support our community. This means that we not only support our club but we support the MVDC and the State Corporation and the system of national events. Here in Ohio, we have a great community and have one of the best State Conventions in the Midwest. This event moves around the state and is put on by rotating committees from across the state. It is no small task. In 2019, it will be in Aurora, OH. Help us support the Ohio State Convention and sign up to attend. If you have not been to one of these you need to go so you do not miss the fun. The best Callers & Cuers will be there all weekend. All levels of dance are there so do not think it is only for experienced dancers. There will be levels of dance for everyone including a youth program. Check out the website, and check the flyer table for more information. There is also a national convention. This year it is the 68th National in Atlanta, GA. There will be 3 to 4 thousand dancers and tons of goings on as well as the adventure of exploring a new city and meeting some new friends. I can t thank you all enough for all your help and for making the club run so smoothly. Keep up the Kitty Hawk Spirit!!!!! Steve & Beverly Stoehr Presidents, Kitty Hawk Squares From the Vice President As winter sets in, the lesson class is going well. We have nine students and thanks to all the angels for showing up. We need you to keep coming and supporting the lesson class. Hope to see you there. The Myrt Foor Dance was a big success again this year. Thank you for all your support of this great cause. Hope your holidays are filled with joy and happiness. We look forward to seeing you all throughout the upcoming new year. The 59th Ohio State Convention will be here before we know it. If you haven t already, get registered so that you can experience the excitement and fun. Let s be one of the clubs that has the greatest representation at this awesome event. We are always looking for new ideas for our dances and for club activities, so please don t hesitate to bring your ideas forward to the club. Who knows, you might start a new trend or establish a long running tradition. Again, we look forward to your support for lesson classes. See you all in a square real soon. Matt & Brenda Howard Vice President From the Chairmen Kitty Hawks are off to another great year of dancing!! You can look forward to great dances and great times of fun and fellowship. Check out the list of raid and retrievals and put them on your calendar. The weather may be iffy, so call the hot line before you venture out to a dance. On some of the long-distance raids, if I don't have enough raiders I will send you a . Kitty Hawks have a lot of Page 2 Kitty Hawk Flyer Issue 1
