From the People who cleaned up the grounds, to the painters, to the color guard, to the generous donation of our new granite bench, to Tree Works for the use of their truck in painting our flagpole and trimming our trees, To the kitchen staff, and of course our very own guest speaker, Lt Colonel Eric Davis. I want to thank Robert Fudala, and Frank Vesely for showing leadership by example on the flagpole area. It is an area to be proud of again. I hope we can keep it that way and add to it in the future. The FREE summer BBQ is set for Saturday July 21,2012 from 4pm until dusk. The Horse shoe and badminton courts will be open. Hamburgers and Hotdogs will be served along with water, soda, and iced tea. Bring your spouse and children. No excuses not to come out and enjoy some marine camaraderie. 2 Senior Vice Commandant: Frank Vessely Hello Fellow Marines...another month flew bye...but a lot was accomplished. The Bunker looks great, "Marine Grade". Bob Fadula worked day and night to upgrade the outside. Painted the curbs, power washed everything in sight., and who can overlook the new bench and marble slabs installed by him... Along with him were many volunteers who cut grass, pulled weeds, and along with him, we had an overall great cleanup...and of course...mario is still mopping up and keeping the inside spic and span. Oh Yes...Thanks for the new road Ronnie. Thanks to all who marched in the Absecon Parade... great job was done by all, and the service at the Bunker was flawless, thanks to Capt. O Flynn and his Color Guard. As things keep moving forward, we all should be proud of the Detachment and its involvement...let's keep moving forward. All of you know the famous saying..."retreat Hell" Thinking Fall...not that far away...closing for now...to All, and God Bless you and your families. 3 Anyone wishing to have their American flags retired in a flag burning ritual on June 14th.,American Flag Day at the Elks Lodge in EHT 2569 at 1518 Mays Landing/Somers Point Rd. The Service will start at precisely at 1800hrs and open to the public. The Service will last approx.30 to 40 minutes and refreshments will follow. Anyone wishing to have flags retired can drop them off at the lodge or Scullville Volunteer Firehouse in care of Cub & Boy Scout Troop 177,or just bring them to Our next CAMCL meeting. They can call me, Dick Bullock at and I will get back to them or will pick them up. New Members Ed Chatten received his first reading for membership in the Cape-Atlantic Detachment Sick & Distressed Jim Ryan does not need the operation, the doctor now has Jim in re-hab House/Building Scouts We are making progress and it is looking good...jim Dunbar Scouting- The Cape Atlantic Marine Corps League's Boy Scout Troop 97 will be going on a canoe trip the end of June and will attend summer camp in the Lake George, New York area the end of July. David, the troop's next Eagle Scout candidate, met his board of review June 5th, we wish him well. Three other scouts are currently Life Scouts and are working on their Eagle requirements. One of these scouts, Liam, is currently doing his Eagle project which is building a "living roof" pavilion at the Galloway Community garden. On another note Ed O'Flynn and Bob McCarty attended the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Collin Wiener from Troop 77 on May 8th. Semper Fi, Bob McCarty 3

4 Kitchen Volunteers are always needed in the kitchen. Let Mario know if you can help. A kitchen Team with meeting & event setup, take-down, Mess and kitchen clean-up duties needs to be formed. The more members we get on the team, the lest work they will all have to do. Team work pays off and benefits everyone. Road Clean-Up The Detachment had its second road clean up on May 12th and thanks go to Jim Dunbar, Dick Bullock, Ed Link and Bob McCarty for participating. Come and join us clean up and get some exercise walking around Lily Lake (1.5 miles) at 0830 on Saturday morning June 16th (rain or shine), we meet at the building. Hope to see you. A lot of hard work by the Marines that made this another successful fundraiser for the Cape-Atlantic Detachment. 6 2nd. Annual Gunny Baldwin Golf Outing The following 2 pages are the official entry forms for the 2nd annual Gunny Baldwin Memorial Golf outing. The Golf Outing supports both the Cape Atlantic detachment and the Atlantic County 2012 Toys For Tots Program. Get out there and get as many golfers as you can to play in this year's tournament. Last year's golf outing was a great success. This year's promises to be bigger and better. 6

8 Memorial Day 2012 The Cape Atlantic Detachment marched in the 2012 Absecon Memorial Day parade. The color guard and detachment members who marched looked OUTSTANDING! 9 After the parade, the annual Memorial Day Ceremony was held at the Bunker at 1130 hours. The flag pole and surrounding area is now sporting new paint and a memorial bench. The grounds never looked better, thanks to Commandant Joe Hiers, Frank Vesely, Bob Fudala, Charles Fields, Ed Link, Paul Robinson and the rest of the Marines who came out to fix up the Bunker flagpole and grounds.
