Please Read the Following Before Attempting to Pick Up Your Livestock Show Check: Most of you realize that the success of our County Show depends on our buyers, and you write your thank you notes right away to show your appreciation. We would like to remind you that you must bring your thank you notes, stamped and ready to mail, (or copies of your thank you notes) when or before you come in to pick up your check. Also, call the office to verify that you know who all of your buyers are. Sometimes there are add-ons after the auction that you are not aware of---thank you notes need to be written for these as well. Checks will not be released until the Extension Office has verified that thank you notes have been written. There will be no exceptions to this rule. If you do not know the name of the person or company who bought your animal, call, , or come by the Extension Office and we will give you that information. We do have an electronic copy of the buyers list, so we can send your information to you via . Checks will probably be ready at the end of February. You must have your thank you notes, or copies of them, in order to pick up your check.

9 4-H Newsletter February, 2011 Page 9 Youth Fair and Raffle Basket Results This year was not only a record year for Youth Fair entries, but a record year for the Youth Fair Auction and Raffle. We are proud to announce that this year the two events raised a total of $2,056.50! That means Erath County United Way and Erath County Big Brothers Big Sisters will each receive $1,028.25!!! Remember, if it was not for United Way sponsoring our local 4-H program, 4-H ers would have to spend a lot more time fundraising throughout the year. There would also be no funds available to pay team entry fees and assist with costs for Roundup and other activities. Thank you to all the 4-H ers who put their Youth Fair items in the auction. Also, thank you to all the clubs for making awesome baskets to put in the raffle; having so many different themes encouraged more people to purchase tickets! All of you did a great job making this year a success. We are excited to begin planning next year s events. Anyone interested in livestock judging, please contact our office ( ). We are putting together a list so we can start scheduling practices. Our first judging contest, The Tarleton Invitational, will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011, so our teams will want to get several practices in before then. Erath 4-H member, Kalee Risse, recently competed at a Johnson County Horse Judging contest, and did very well. Kalee received a 6 th place in halter reasons and a 7 th place in halter class. Congratulations, and job well done, Kalee!
