Our first term was a hit! Thank you to all the adults out there who are participating in our classes and recruited their friends to join in on the fun. Please make sure you print this off, read through it and make sure your child is not missing from any of the routines that they are participating in. Please any edits concerning your dancer to the front desk and they will be applied to the program. DVD order correction - in our Christmas package it states DVDs can be purchased at the front desk however you must order directly through Captured Moments. We have sent eveyone the order form and they will also have a table set up at our show! CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS - if you are interested in volunteering at our rehearsal and/or show please sign up on the sheet at the front desk or Tammy Chouinard at tammy@pureacademy.ca! Thanks in advance for your help. IMPORTANT NOTE: Our students have been working very hard in class to prepare fot this show. These numbers have been choreographed exclusviely for this show and this will be the only time they will be able to showcase their hard work. Our June recitals will offer completely new routines. So please help to make your child s Christmas Show a success and invite friends and family to enjoy the arts during the finest time of the year, Christmas Time! All dancers (Mini to Senior Company) are required to be at the studio until 6:00pm, from there they can head over to the Active Lifestyle centre for the event. December 16th practice will be cut short because of the Christmas Show Rehearsal at the Capitol theatre. All dancers are required to be at the studio for practice at their regularly scheduled time up until 6:00pm. After that, dancers may have a quick bite to eat and get ready for rehearsal at the theatre. Soloist Dress Rehearsal- Thursday Jan. 26th, 2017 at the Cultural Centre CREW TEAM UPDATE Competitive Teams Christmas Party (Company and Crew) will be held December 9th at the Active Lifestyle Centre. Production Rehearsal Dates at the Health Plex February 5th, 2017 April 2nd, 2017 Tentative Soloist Dress Rehearsal- Thursday January 26th, 2017 at the Cultural Centre CLASS CANCELLATIONS AND RESCHEDULED CLASSES - Class Cancelled: ALL PURE STUDENTS - Friday December 23rd and Saturday December 24th Why? Because Santa is coming! - Class Moved: Saturday February 18th INTERMEDIATE (Chatham) CREW COMPETITIVE TRAINING moved from 9:30-11:30am to 3:30-5:30pm - Class Moved: Saturday February 18th JUNIOR LEVEL HIP HOP moved from 11:00-11:45am to 10:45-11:30am (Miss Jaiden will be instructing this class - Class Moved: Saturday February 18th LEVEL 1 BALLET from 11:45-12:45pm to 11:30-12:30pm 2016/2017 PARENT EXECUTIVE UPDATES Social Committee and Community Outreach We are happy to announce that our new co-leads for the 2016/2017 year are Brenda Borland and Danielle Pedersen. They have been working together very well to ensure this committee is kicked off properly! Their first initiative was to collect a group of interested individuals and form a full committee. They were able to recruit volunteers to help with pulled together to decorate the float so beautifully and donated their time to making it look so amazing! The Social/Community Outreach Committe is now in full swing with organzing the annual Competitive Christmas Party. This year it will be taking place on Friday December 9th at the Active Lifestyle Centre. Company teams will dance until 6pm then they will be sent over to the Christmas party where a fun & festive event will take place. All competitive families will have $7 charged to their account to help with the costs of the party. Dancers are encouraged to wear something festive and comfortable and to bring a donation for the deserving children who will be spending their Christmas this year at the Ronald McDonald House. Fundraising Committee Our fundraising team recently finished up a few initiatives, the Lucky Draw took place on November the Santa Claus Parade, in Chatham. The winners are: 1st place Ravyenne Noah 2nd place Candice Frasier 3rd place Amy Frampton Congratulations!! We are also just finishing up our Get out and Save book sales. Thank you to all those who supported our dancers. We are eagerly planning a few events for Details will follow soon for all of our fundraising families.. PILOXING workouts are a fusion of boxing and standing Pilates principles. The combination of these disciplines as primary exercise components creates a sense of both physical and mental balance. Reminder - Please make sure your child is wearing indoor shoes in the classrooms or outdoor shoes that are in a clean condition. Saturday Dec. 17, 2016 Capitol Theatre, Chatham 1:00 p.m. All of our Wallaceburg students have been working hard learning their routines and preparing for their Christmas performance. We are so excited to see them shine on stage. It is extremely important that students attend all their classes so everyone is prepared and ready for this exciting day. Info packages have all been ed, so please let us know if you have not received yours. The package includes the rehearsal schedule, dressing room assignments, costume info and show day information. Just a reminder that all costumes must be returned labelled with the student s name, so we can mark returned on the class list. All costumes will be handed out labelled and in garment plastic or bags, the last class before the show. Please return it the way you got it! All costumes must be returned the week after the show. If you cannot bring it to the studio, please make arrangements for someone to bring it for you. Absolutely, do not leave any costumes at the theatre. We are still looking for backstage volunteers to help with our little ones. 7 The PURE Monthly Awards are a way for the PURE Staff to recognize deserving students. Throughout each month instructors nominate students in their respective disciplines who have been demonstrating all of the behaviours outlined in the Code of Conduct found at pureacademy.ca. The PURE dancer of the month is Julia Ericson. Julia has been working hard in her hip hop and lyrical classes each and every week. She is always asking if she can try a dance step again ro perfect it and comes to each dance class with a smile on her face. Keep on bringing your energy and positive attitude to dance class Julia! Congratulations! Our Acro student of the month goes to Julia Pegg. Julia is such a wonderful student to have in class. She is constantly working hard and improving. When she s taught a new move, Julia always comes over to show her instructor to make sure she has it right. She is a joy to have in class and we could not be more proud of her progress. Keep it up Juli Our Acro student of the month is Payden Bromley. Payden is not only incredibly attentive and hard working but she is so positive and respectful. She is such a role model to every level at PURE for that reason. She always takes the time at the end of every class to come say thank you to her instructors and assistants. She brings such a positive energy into every class she is in and she is an absolute pleasure to have in class. Keep up the incredible work Payden! Wallaceburg Dancer of the month goes to Mila Vink! Mila is working hard this year to learn and improve her work. She asks for help when she is struggling with a step and takes the time to practice. Mila is quiet in her classes, never interrupts and is working hard at applying her corrections. She rarely misses class and is always on time. Keep up the good work Mila! We are so proud of you! Our Lakeshore Dancer of the month goes to Kara Derix. Kara is a strong dance student, who is eager to learn and always works hard in class. She has an undeniable passion for dance and is a pleasure to teach. She maintains a positive attitude, and always pays close attention to technique and details. Keep up the amazing work Kara! Our PURE Heart goes to Jenn Vink. Jenn Vink. Jenn has always been very supportive of our Wallaceburg studio and very giving of her time. She not only keeps our studio clean, which can be challenging some days, she also works hard at fundraising for our Crew and Tap Teams. Jenn is always willing to lend a helping hand to students and families and you will usually see her volunteering her time at rehearsals and recitals. This is one dedicated dance mom!
