4 Samba Belly Fitness 4:30 PM 5:15 PM (Pay Instructor Directly) $10.00 per person. $5.00 per child 17 years and under. This class will be taught by Abyssinia Benefsefji. Samba Belly Fitness is a program developed by Nefertiti of Virginia. This class is designed to not only provide cardio-fitness, but to also enhance and tighten the erogenous zones of the women who participate, as we tighten our Kegel muscles by doing squats. She is also studying to be a Naturopathic doctor and will graduate a few weeks after this festival! Kumu Hula Kalena has been dancing since childhood and has worked with the community through AmeriCorps helping at-risk children and families in need. Major appearances include the International Home Builders Show, Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, Sunday Ann Arbor Artisan's Market, Gilda's Club, Detroit Festival for the Arts, Detroit Princess Riverboat, Fountain Hills Arizona Thanksgiving Day Parade, Susan B. Komen for the Cure, AZ Aloha Festival, and Arizona Exposition & State Fair. Tropical Polynesian Productions is known for their energetic and upbeat dances. Kalena teaches the following dances: Hawaiian (Ancient and Modern), Tahitian, Fijian, Tongan, Maori New Zealand, and Samoan. The troupe employs veils, canes, zils, candles, snakes, fans, and swords. The Desert Flowers also features soloists, duets, and trios in addition to group numbers up to ten dancers.

The troupe employs veils, canes, zils, candles, snakes, fans, and swords. The Desert Flowers also features soloists, duets, and trios in addition to group numbers up to ten dancers. In addition to public performances, The Desert Flowers also perform for numerous private occasions such as wedding receptions, surprise birthday parties, and corporate events. This vivacious and versatile troupe has a growing reputation for providing outstanding world dance entertainment. To inquire for bookings, please visit Kumu Kaimi Matthews Valdez, trained in both hula and Tahitian, was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and started dancing at the young age of 3 under the direction of Kumu Hula Master and Composer John Pi'ilani Watkins. When her family decided to move to California in 1975, she continued dancing with Kumu Naomi Leina ala Kalama and then at age of 5 began dancing with Kamo's of Hawaii a.k.a. Kamohai's Hula Halau, under the direction of Joseph Kamoha i Kahaulelio. When Kaimi turned 7, her passion and love for hula grew and with the permission of Uncle Joe, decided to open her own halau and in 1979 began teaching hula and Tahitian out of her garage. This was the beginning of Kaimikahu Hale 'O Hula that was originally based in her hometown of Santa Clara, California and eventually expanded into the Salinas and Sacramento area. In the summer of 1978, Kaimi entered Tahiti Fete in Sacramento where she placed

She took the same title in 1979 and In 1983, Kaimi moved back to the island of Oahu and took a break from teaching and attended Halau under the direction of Kumu Maiki Aiu Lake and then under John Keola Lake. She also learned Tahitian from Tunui Tully. In 1985 she moved back to California where she returned to teaching her halau again while also continuing to grow and enhance her skills at the same time under the direction of Kumu Mark Keali i Ho omalu. In 1996, Kaimi s family decided to move to Arizona where she now resides and continues to teach hula and tahitian and has been going strong for 20 years. Anaya Tribal performs their own signature style of Improvisational Tribal Bellydance. Incorporating innovative & experimental fusion into their dynamic performances such as zils, sword, tribal skirt and anything else they can get their hands on, Anaya creates a unique performance every time!!
