If you fail to work in the food stand or donate your baked goods or money, you will lose your incen ve money. It is your responsibility to find someone to work for you or switch your me if you are unable to work your scheduled shi. DESSERT OR MONEY DONATION OPTIONS. You must call Beth at by June 22 to say what you plan to bring. If you will be dona ng $15, please have it to the office by June 22. If you work on Thursday, Friday or Saturday, please bring your item to your shi. Sunday shi, please bring your item on Wednesday. Do not plate or wrap your bars. That will be done at the food stand. 2 What you NEED to know! County 4 H T Shirts All exhibitors (4 H & FFA) par cipa ng in livestock shows and contests must wear their official County 4 H/FFA t shirt. FFA chapter/4 H club shirts are not permi ed. The contests include ATV, Tractor Driving, Bicycle Rodeo, Shoo ng Sports, and Horse Judging (unless exhibi ng). Exhibit Hall Classes Just a reminder as you are working on your fair exhibits..please double check the sec on of the fairbook which corresponds with the classes you have entered. Some areas have strict guidelines to follow for exhibi on. Lowered ribbon placings could result if guidelines aren t followed. Bring your Sta c items to the 4 H building on Tuesday, July 3 between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. This does not include food and hor culture. Hor culture and food will be entered on Thursday, July 5 at 10 a.m. Judging will take place from 10:30 noon this day. Monday, July 2 St. Edward Public School Fashion Show and Clothing Construc on The day will begin at 9 am with interview judging and modeling. Please bring your style narra on cards to the office on Thursday, June 28. Presenta on Contest Did you give a demonstra on during a club mee ng this year? Are you passionate about Nebraska Agriculture? Do you enjoy pu ng together short, informa ve videos? If you answered yes to any of these ques ons, Join us for the presenta on contest held at 1:00 p.m. Please see page 12 in your fairbook for more details. Call the office to sign up! Hor culture Contest Par cipants will iden fy the plant specimens by acceptable common name as defined by the Iden fica on Answer Sheet. Par cipants will be given a plant list to use at the contest and will iden fy samples from each of the four sec ons; Flowers & Indoor Plants, Landscape Ornamentals, Fruits, Nuts & Berries and Vegetables. Family and Consumer Science Quiz The ques ons are designed for 8 12 year olds, and are intended to engage young people interested in family and consumer sciences in a challenging educa onal experience. Stop by and take the test! Small Animal & Pet Show Sunday, July 8, is the small animal show at 1 p.m. Poultry and Rabbits need to be stalled on Friday at 4 p.m. All other small animals, please arrive at 12:45 on Sunday. 3 Fairgrounds Clean Up An important part of being a 4 H member is par cipa ng in before and a er fair clean ups. Extension staff have over lapping fairs this year, so it is extremely important members and their families step up and help with fairgrounds clean up. Pre fair clean up will be on Sunday, June 24 at 5 p.m. Things that need to be done: Clean 4 H Exhibit Hall Set up displays and tables Set up sheep and swine pens Set up small animal cages Wash racks on and ready Trim around buildings Put down sun shades Families are requested to bring: Gloves Shovel or spade Gas Weed eaters (need several) Push or riding mower Rakes Brooms Mop & bucket Rags Post fair clean up will be Monday, July 9 at 9 a.m. Parade of Stars Burger Bash Friday, July 6 6:30 p.m. Join us outside of the 4 H building for the public style review and a chance to showcase your favorite project. All 4 Her s are encouraged to a end, and 4 H youth who modeled at the pre fair clothing day are required to model, unless release is granted by the 4 H council. Two quilts of valor will be presented to area veterans. 3 Make plans to have your evening meal at the 4 H Council Burger Bash! 4 Livestock & Horses Online Registra on Cloverkid Bucket Calf Nance County exhibitors will have the op on of exhibi ng their animal through fair or come the day of the show and then leave a er showing. Please be at the show by 10 a.m. on Friday, July 8. Your bucket calf record book is due June 28. Be sure to turn in the Livestock Judging Livestock judging contest will now be held on Friday, July 6, following the swine, sheep and goat show. The original date was Saturday, July 7. Online Registration for Fair Projects Blow and Go Reminder All livestock will be clipped, washed and blown dry. No glue, adhesives, paint, powder or any compounds normally applied to hooves and/or natural or synthe c fiber or any other items that would change the natural appearance of the animal will be allowed. See the fairbook for more details. Boone/Nance Horse Show The Horse Judging contest and show will be held at the Boone County fair grounds on Saturday, June 30. Check in is at 7:30 with the judging contest beginning at 8 a.m. The horse show will follow. Step 1. Register online at Click on Sign In at top right. Choose a login type: To register one exhibitor, choose Exhibitor. To register multiple exhibitors (family with several 4-Her s), choose Quick Group. New exhibitors should choose a password and complete all fields. Please remember your password in order to register more exhibits later or to verify your registration. Previously registered exhibitors, enter your password. Step 2. Entries: Choose a Department for your first entry. If you are a cloverkid, be sure to select Clover Kids for ALL of your projects. Once you select the department, the Division tab will pop up. The divisions are listed in your fair book. Once you select a division, then the classes will show up. A description box will pop up. It is not necessary to fill this in, but you can add a few words if you know what your project looks like. Example: Dresser Drawer painted with Teal Chalk paint. You must select a Club for your entries. Click the Add Entry to Cart button. Once all entries have been completed, click Continue. Step 3. Review: Review your entries and additional items for accuracy. Before checking out, you may add more entries or save this cart and log in to add more entries later. Note that your cart and login information are not saved until you click Save This Cart. Your exhibits are not registered until you click Check-out. Choosing to Save This Cart will allow you to come back another day and continue to add projects. It is recommended to start the process now, and then continue to work on your projects and make your final selections before the 17 th. You must Check Out before midnight on June 17 for your projects to be submitted. Step 4. Confirm: Type Yes in the red dashed box to indicate that you agree with 4-H rules and regulations. Click Submit. Review your summary of entries and additional items. You may print and request an of the receipt. If everything is correct, click Finish. You may review your previous transactions and view your profile by clicking on your name in the top right corner of the page. Congratulations! You are registered for the 2018 Nance County Fair. 4

5 2018 Food Stand Requirements and Shifts PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: The State Health Department is requiring each person working in the foodstand to wear some type of head covering. You will need to bring a CLEAN cap, visor, or bandana for your use. For safety reasons, no children under the age of 6 are permitted in the foodstand unless they are a member of 4-H. An adult, (18 or older) must work with 4-H family members. FAILURE TO WORK IN THE FOODSTAND AND DONATE YOUR DESSERT CHOICE OR MONEY, WILL RESULT IN A LOSS OF INCENTIVE MONEY. It is very important that you show up when scheduled. If you must change times, days, etc., it is YOUR responsibility to find someone to take your place. Call Beth prior to the fair if you have switched times with another family. If it is during the fair, please mark it on the master schedule in the food stand.
