1 Dear Parents #September 2015 The official water polo season is a couple of weeks away, however the U14A, 15A and 19A teams have been working hard for their upcoming respective third term tournament s. The dates and details are posted later in this document. I would like to congratulate Dylan Watt and James Hablutzel on their selection for the South African U16A team that toured Malta in July. By all accounts they played great polo and did themselves, their respective families and the school proud. I would also like welcome Dean Rimmer onto our coaching staff at the school. Dean has spent many years coaching at SACS. He was assistant coach to the SA U16A team that travelled to Malta recently and has been appointed the Western Province U14A team coach for the SA schools tournament at the end of the year. Dean runs his own water polo academy club The Western Warriors where he coaches boys and girls of all ages from the basics of water polo to skills required at a higher level. He is presently running the water polo programme at WPPS and will officially be involved with Rondebosch water polo at the start of the Fourth term. He will initially take over the senior role of U15A team coach with Alex Du Plessis deciding to take on the assistant role. Alex is finding his lecture times coming more into conflict with his commitment to the school. He has done a fantastic job with the U15A teams and we are still very lucky to be able to retain his services. Dean will also assist with the U14A and U19A teams with special attention on statistical and video analysis and conditioning for all A - teams.

3 RBHS U14 WATER POLO TOURNAMENT RBHS will be hosting the U14 Water Polo Tournament from September This tournament is now in it's seventh year and fields teams from Schools in the Western Cape and visiting sides from Kwa-Zulu Natal, Eastern Cape and Gauteng. The tournament coincides with the U15 Ian Melliar Tournament at Wynberg and precedes the 1 st team SACS Tournament (3-5 October). The tournament takes place over 4 days and matches commence on Thursday 24 September. The semi-finals and the final will be played on Sunday 27 September. This is an ideal opportunity for coaches to obtain the latest information regarding one of the biggest injury concerns facing swimmers and water polo players.
