1 9 November 2017 Calling Page 1
2 Marketing It is a quieter time in the school, if that can ever be such a thing. The senior Grades 10 and 11 boys in the College have started their final examinations and join the Matrics who have been busy writing for the last few weeks. The Grade 12 boys are certainly well into the swing of things. The Grade 7 s in the Prep, along with the Grades 8 and 9 boys in the College, begin writing examinations next week and I hope that they have revised thoroughly. Hard work rarely goes unrewarded. The examination papers have been fair thus far and the boys seem to have enjoyed them. It is most pleasing to see the effort that the Matric boys are showing in preparing for the examinations. A large number have been coming into school for extra lessons from their teachers and hopefully they are applying themselves to their studies at home too. Having a daughter writing Matric finals also heightens the sense of empathy I have for all Matric scholars throughout the country who are busy overcoming their final academic hurdles. Good luck with the reminder of the examinations. Having glanced at the calendar there are a number of noteworthy entries to diarise. On Friday we hold our annual Remembrance Day Ceremony to commemorate those who lost their lives in the First World War. Lest We Forget. The Prep Art Meander is taking place this year on 21 and 22 November in the Prep Art and Science Centre. We are always looking for opportunities to welcome you to the school where we can celebrate your sons achievements together. The Art Meander also gives you a chance to relax in our tea garden and enjoy a hot beverage complemented by a slice of heavenly cake. Don t forget to sign Mrs Meyer s visitors book. Tonight we sign off on Clifton Club for The Mexican theme is sure to spice things up in every way. Thank you for your support in advance. There are no carryovers with regard to the prize money, so make sure you attend if you wish to be a winner. Our final Prep and College cricket fixtures are being played against Virginia and Maritzburg College respectively this weekend. I hope the weather plays its part for our boys. Please keep up to date on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Another year has flown by. Enjoy what is left of 2017 and good luck to the Springboks who kick off their end of year northern hemisphere tour with a match against Ireland on Saturday. BARRY MEZHER DEPUTY PRINCIPAL: MARKETING Meander On Friday afternoon Mr White and Mrs Achmad will be at the Under 9 cricket matches being played against Glenwood. Mr Ravenscroft will be with his team for their match against Virginia. In the evening Mr Boniaszczuk will be at the KZN Youth Choir Carol Service in the Sutcliffe Theatre. On Saturday Mrs Achmad will be at the mini cricket matches for selected Grade 2 boys at Durban North College. Messrs White and Ravenscroft will be at the Grades R-1 Dads and Lads session on the Whitehead Oval. Mr Mezher will be with his team for their match against Virginia. Messrs White and Ravenscroft will also be at the cricket matches being played against Virginia. Messrs Goedeke and Bresler will be at the College T20 cricket matches being played against Maritzburg College. Page 2
