The Redlands Rave I S S U E 4 D E C E M B E R 2 7 T H SPECIAL POINTS OF INTEREST: Upcoming Events The Season so far Welcome to the Rave! AGM Volunteers Bandits vs Japanese Highschool team By Brittany Smith INSIDE THIS ISSUE: Proposed dates for upcoming events 1 PROPOSED DATES FOR UPCOMING EVENTS. Season standings 2 Please save these dates: Redlands AGM 3 Our Volunteers 4 Junior Presentation Saturday 19 th March, 2016 Senior Presentation Saturday 23 rd April, 2016 BQ Under 18 s vs 5 Japanese Highschool team Our Sponsors 56 At this stage these are proposed dates only, more information to follow in the New Year. Should anyone wish to assist our Social Co-Ordinator, Steph Ulmas, with either of these events please either see Steph or contact our secretary, Dana Robitaille for more information.
PAGE 2 Successful start to the 2015/16 Season We are happy to report that the season has kicked off in great style with many of our teams featuring in the top 4 on their respective ladders and the time of the XMAS Break. Whilst it is not the be all and end all for teams to feature in the top 4, a lot of us participate in the game of baseball for the social aspect; some within the club are a little more competitive and strive to be playing come grand final day. Here is a summary of where our teams are standing Major A Major B Major C Pac C Masters U20 Devil Rays Div 1 U20 Sting Rays Div 1 U16 Devil Rays Div 1 U16 Sting Rays Div 1 U16 Manta Rays Div 2 U14 Redland Rays Div 1 U14 Sting Rays Div 2 U14 Devil Rays Div 2 LL Majors Devil Rays - LL Majors Sting Rays - LL Minors Redlands Rays - 3rd 5th 5th 2 ND (in south comp) 3 RD (in south comp still to play on the 14 th Dec.) 2nd 1 st 2nd 5th 10th 1st 3 rd (in south comp) 4 th (in south comp) 1st 4th 4 th (in south comp) Let s not forget our 2 Rookie Ball teams who continue to improve each week and from all reports thoroughly enjoy their time on the ballpark each Saturday. We also saw the completion of the Aussie T-Ball program on Friday 27 th November. We would like to say a big thank you to Renee Truswell and her family who ran the program this year, also a big thanks to all of our members who came down on the 27th to participate in the game with the kids. From the photos posted on our face book page the ATB kids really seemed to enjoy the night! FINALS FORMAT The last round next year will be the weekend of th February, The format for the junior finals this season will be only 2 weeks of finals. The grand final will be held on Saturday March 12 th (venue to be advised). This will mean that we will see the semi-final on the 5 th March with teams 1 v 4 taking on each other and teams 2 v 3 battling it out to see which teams will make the GF. Should your team be in a South Comp the semi-final will see 1 v 2 battle it out with the winner taking on the winner of 1 v 2 in the North Comp.
PAGE 3 PROPOSED DATE FOR AGM The proposed date for the upcoming AGM is Wednesday 20 th April, Please mark this date in your calendar so you can be sure not to forget. The date will be confirmed in the New Year. This year s positions up for nomination are: PRESIDENT 1 year term CLUB OPERATIONS 2 year term SECRETARY 2 year term Should you be interested in any of these roles please feel free to look up the job descriptions on our website under Governance - Position Description. As for any position they are always evolving so please feel free to talk to the current member in that role, we are more than happy to share any knowledge we may have of the role to help you decide if you would like to nominate. It is possible that all 3 members currently in these roles will not be re-nominating for the roles they currently hold so the club will be looking for new members to fill committee positions.
Thank You! PAGE 4 At this me of year I d like to give a massive shout out to our volunteers! Without our mums and dads, sisters and brothers, grandmas and grandpas helping out around the club we couldn t survive. There are so many of you to thank I can t name you all singularly but there are a group of people that at this me I would like to acknowledge. Donella Humble our Junior Co Ordinator. Donella has a massive job but always does it with a smile on her face!! I could not begin to list the number of jobs that Donella does and without her efforts our juniors possibly would s ll be wai ng to be allocated teams!! J Neil and Gail McKenzie our Canteen Co Ordinators. Without them pu ng their hand up this year the commi ee would have had to also manage the canteen so they have been a God send for the commi ee!! Our Grounds Crew: Thomas Laverty, Ken Humble, Sco Fletcher, Gavin Fletcher, Darryn Smallwood, John Lord and of course Paul Saverin and Stephen Pike. At let s not forget Kayne Saverin our LL Majors player who whenever he is at the park not playing or training is working on the fields. Many Saturday s a er the last game of the day he can be see a ending to the fields this is a er he has played his game and had his BNE STH LL training. Gordon McPherson: Gordon does all of our clubhouse cleaning. I for one have no ced that our toilets and club house are so much cleaner that what they have been in the past. We have one of the (if not the) best clubhouse s around the league, it is so nice to see if kept clean and appreciated thanks again Gordon!! Di Smith Di is our scorer s co-ordinator. A special thanks must go out to Di as many Sunday s I have seen her score all 3 Major games (C, B & A) and with only having a child playing in one of those grades it s a massive day for Di to give up not only her me but her brain as well. Di has been assisted by Gayle Fletcher, Liz Smith, Sherryn Johnstone and Sharon Laverty so a big thank you to all of those ladies. Teressa Hamson Not long a er the AGM last year Teressa willingly put her hand up for the Uniform Co-ordinators role. Not long a er that we formed a new partnership with BLK - I don t think anyone was prepared for what was to come!! New playing jersey s for seniors, new playing jersey s for juniors, training shirts, polo s, hoodies, jackets, socks etc etc the list goes on and is s ll growing. I hope everyone can agree now that the new gear looks amazing I have it on good authority that other clubs and regions have approached BLK for the camo look I could go on forever thanking people for what they do around the club. But in summary I would like to voice my apprecia on to everyone that volunteers around the club, from coaches, asst. coaches, managers, umpires, scorers, canteen volunteering etc. etc. etc.. without you all we couldn t func on. In closing I d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. Good luck to all of our members a ending Na onals in January, whether it be as a player, coach, scorer or parent!!
PAGE 5 WHEN: MONDAY 28th December 2015 GAME TIME: 1.30PM start The canteen will be open for your convenience If you are home between Christmas and the New Year why Not come on down to the fields and support our 4 Redlands players who are in the Bandits line up LOCATION: Redlands Baseball Fields 20 Duncan Road Sheldon For more informa on please contact.
