1 A NOTE FROM THE DJFNC PRESIDENT Round 5 saw us play tough rivals in Lake Wendouree at home. Our footballers had a successful day by winning 50% of their matches whilst our netballers had a hard day in the office only winning two matches for the day. Our under 11 s were successful in winning both matches again. Still undefeated you talented girls! Congratulations to all players and coaches who had a win. OP SHOP FORMAL TRIVIA NIGHT A reminder that our Op Shop Formal Trivia Night is scheduled for the 23rd June. Get your tables of 8 10 organised as soon as you can as bookings for tables are filling fast. If you do not have enough for a table, we can certainly add you on to one. It s going to be a great evening! Please contact Kristie Growcott or Briony Watkins for further information on Round 6 is a bye for some of our age groups due to Ballarat Storm not having teams in some age groups. Therefore the following age groups will be playing on Sunday against Ballarat Storm in Alfredton. All U10 sides and U12 reserves. Both U11 senior and reserves sides, both U13 senior and reserves side and U15 reserves only. ROUND 6 UPDATE Our U16 senior footballers are playing against Mt Clear. 7 T h e ROUND 4 WEDNESDAY 16TH MAY DEVIL FOOTBALL RESULTS U/9 FOOTBALL Darley vs U10 Development On the 16th May our under 9s had been due to play Melton Centrals, but some thieves rendered the power supply void at Arnold s Creek leading to cancellation of the round by AFL Goldfields. However, we stick side by side at the Devils and within an hour a new match had been arranged versus the Devils under 10 development team. Archer Ward led as skipper for this game and his teammates all played extremely well in a match played in great spirit. Thanks to all involved in making this match happen. 15 Vs ROUND 5 SUNDAY 20TH MAY DEVIL NETBALL RESULTS U/13 NETBALL SENIORS Darley 14 def by Lake Wendouree 30 Goals: Bridie Shanahan 12, Jessica Hodge 2 Jessica Hodge (BOC), Addi Wright, Ella Closter Full credit to Lake Wendouree today. They applied pressure throughout the game. Our first half was amazing out scoring the opposition. Unfortunately our passes let us down in the second half. Bad luck girls. Moving forward we will continue to work on our passes and keeping our heads up. Teresa, Vanessa & Kirstie RESERVES Darley 8 def by Lake Wendouree 10 Goals: Charlotte Drevensek 7, Maddy Vella 1 Ayla Scicchitano (BOC), Sienna Duggan, Maddy Vella Bad luck girls on a well fought game. Our mid court worked so hard getting in front and always being an option. Defensively we applied pressure on each pass and shot. We will continue to work on all players attacking and defending as well as our passes. Teresa, Vanessa & Kirstie
16 Vs ROUND 5 SUNDAY 20TH MAY DEVIL NETBALL RESULTS U/15 NETBALL SENIORS Darley 18 def by Lake Wendouree 39 Goals: Eliza Tango 11, Britney Ellis 5, Takeya Tanner 2 Eliza Tango (BOC), Brooke McNeil, Lilli Condon It was a great start to the game, point for point in the first quarter but when Lakers got a couple of breaks, our mentality started to side shift and our communication became silent. We made a lot of fundamental errors which caused lots of turnovers making it harder for us to close the gap. However, great work from our defenders with all the pressure you were under today you really toughed it out until the end. Jade, Simone & Alex RESERVES Darley 8 def by Lake Wendouree 41 Goals: Edyn Thomas 4, Grace Holt 3, Isabella Di Mieri 1 Rosie George (BOC), Casey Rickards, Molly Magrath A very hard day in the office today girls!! The score was a massive blow out but the lessons learned were invaluable. It pushed our girls to their limits and some cases beyond. Great effort by you all, we just need that mental toughness to keep us going until the final whistle. Jade, Simone & Alex
17 Vs ROUND 5 SUNDAY 20TH MAY DEVIL NETBALL RESULTS U/17 NETBALL SENIORS Darley 33 def by Lake Wendouree 49 Goals: Emma Winzar 25, Kaylee Banner 5, Ella Cook 3 RESERVES Holly Van Meel (BOC), Jaimee Smith, Emma Winzar, Tanisha Mercieca Starting with a sold first half to our game, we were unable to finish the last half of the game with the same attack on the ball with some turn arounds that caught us chasing our tail. With player rotation in what seemed like the right time to make, we need to ensure that moving forward we continue to work as a team and adjust our game play accordingly. We play to win and we put the best team forward yes to me there is always 7 of the best on the court at all times in this team. Let s move forward recognising that change means difference but a game is won as a team! Nichole, Kaylee & Susanne Darley 11 def by Lake Wendouree 42 Goals: Ebony Pigott 5, Keeley Growcott 3, Tenaya Mills 3 Mel Cadman (BOC), Tenaya Mills, Tahlea Mills We started off really strong today girls and are starting to adjust to game changes really well. Our defence throughout the game was strong with our defenders working really hard in turning the ball over. We need to work on our passes to guarantee that our turnover is supported by our attack and consistency of our game play. Moving forward with this in mind can make a difference to our final score with hope of securing a win that you all deserve. Let s work on our passes at training See you then! Nichole, Kaylee & Susanne
