2 Bridging Borders As we welcome you to the 49th annual OSA Summer Convention, we ask you to consider our theme of Bridging Borders and the many ways we have already crossed literal and figurative borders to bring premier Oregon-grown seed to the world. Bridging Borders means connecting the link between Oregon and the rest of the world, between domestic and international, between urban and rural, between growers, retailers and breeders, and between Oregon and Washington, as we cross the Bridge of the Gods over the Columbia River to Skamania Lodge. It also means working to remove the barriers that seek to divide us, and instead become united in our goals. Whether retailer, grower, breeder, or the many other partners in the industry, we rely on the group as a whole in order to individually succeed. Let s bridge the divisions the ideas that hold us back and work together toward a prosperous future. We have planned this year s convention at a family-friendly destination, with an agenda and activities that we hope you will enjoy. With a mid-week convention ending Thursday night, we hope you will stay through the weekend and take advantage of all that Skamania Lodge and the Columbia River Gorge have to offer. The resort and local area caters to those who wish to relax, and those who prefer to be active, with hiking, golf, an aerial obstacle course, tree house lodging, zip line tour, indoor swimming pool, outdoor hot tub, and on-site spa (with 10% discount), and lots more. The following pages contain the preliminary agenda, registration rates, and information on group and individual activities. For those who plan to arrive Tuesday, June 19, stop by the Cascade Dining Room at Skamania Lodge and receive 10% off dinner (June 19 only). Golfers can join a pre-convention game at Elk Ridge Golf Course at Carson Hot Springs Resort. Wednesday s business meetings will begin early with a full breakfast buffet served. We will recess mid-afternoon and gather in the evening on the Cascade Lawn for an outdoor, fireside reception to honor OSA s past presidents. We will convene again Thursday morning (breakfast also included) to finish business meetings, and break early afternoon for the golf tournament and other family activities. Thursday evening we gather to raise funds for the scholarship program at the annual OSA Silent Auction. Tickets will be available to purchase for a 50/50 heads-or-tails game, and one lucky guest will take home half the cash raised! Cash, check, or credit card will be accepted. After the banquet dinner and closing announcements, be amazed and entertained at the skill of magician and illusionist Hart Keene. Hart specializes in highly sophisticated, interactive sleight-ofhand, illusion, and mentalism (psychological illusions), and has performed on NBC s America s Got Talent! - 2 -

3 The convention adjourns Thursday evening for most attendees, but we encourage you to stay and enjoy the resort and surrounding area throughout the weekend. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Registration Register by June 11 to avoid late fees. Some excursions have earlier registration deadlines, so please check the following pages for more information. If you need to cancel a registration, please do so by June 11 for a full refund. Any cancellations after that date, regretfully, cannot be honored. See attached registration form, or register online at Payment is acceptable by check, credit card or via PayPal. 7 Group Activities Pre-Convention Golf June 19, 11:30 AM (check in by 11:00 AM) Must register by June 5 Elk Ridge Golf Course at Carson Hot Springs Golf & Spa Resort 372 St. Martin s Springs Road, Carson, WA Includes green fees and cart. Transportation, range balls, food and beverages on own. Appropriate golf attire required (collared shirt, pants, Bermuda length shorts; no blue jeans, jean shorts or cutoffs). Reception Honoring OSA Past Presidents June 20, 6:00-8:00 PM Join us for an outdoor, fireside reception to honor OSA s past presidents. Mingle with friends, customers and guests on the front lawn overlooking the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area as you enjoy heavy appetizers, all-you-can-eat s mores, and lawn games. Show your patriotic spirit by dressing in red, white and blue, and remember casual shoes. Families welcome; each guest will receive 2 drink tickets (cash accepted also). OSA Golf Tournament June 21, 1:00 PM (check in by 12:00 PM; shotgun start at 1:00 PM) Registration by June 7 preferred Skamania Lodge Golf Course Includes lunch, green fees and cart. To support the scholarship fund we will sell 1 mulligan and 1 throw per player. Must be purchased with registration or at golf check-in. Aerial Park Obstacle Course June 21, 12:30-4:30 PM Must register by June 8. Requires signed waiver form to be provided at convention check-in. Ages 8 & older. Max weight limit 275 lbs. This is an individual activity and not a competition. Plan to spend 2.5 hours to complete the obstacle course. Groups will be organized of no more than 24 people per session. The park consists of 19 platforms and 22 elements of varying degree in difficulty, located within the resort s wooded property. Guests will lead themselves through the fun but challenging aerial park on their own and at their own pace. Park monitors move throughout the course to assist as needed and help in any way necessary. Some of the elements include bridges, tight-wire walks, cargo net, canoe, cable ladders and a junkyard. Participants must be 8 years old, or older, AND able to reach up to 6 feet high to access the park without a parent/guardian Max weight limit 275 lbs No open toed shoes allowed (ie. sandals, flip flops, Chacos) - 7 -

8 Zip Line Tour June 21, 12:30-4:30 PM Must register by June 8. Requires signed waiver form to be provided at convention check-in. No age limit. Weight requirement of 60 lbs. to 275 lbs. This is an individual activity and not a competition. Plan to spend 2.5 hours to complete the zip line tour. Groups will be organized of no more than 10 people per session. You won't want to miss this opportunity to catch beautiful views from high in the rainforest canopy of Douglas Firs. Our excursion will send you soaring through an old growth forest with views of the magnificent Columbia River. Zip lines range from 100 feet to over 900 feet in length. The tour consists of seven different lines, three sky bridges, an autobelay, some light trail walking, and stunning views. This is a totally guided adventure, prior experience is not required Weight requirement of 60 lbs. to 275 lbs. No open toed shoes allowed (ie. sandals, flip flops, Chacos) We will zip in all weather so dressing in layers is suggested Child Care June 21, 5:45-10:00 PM We will provide qualified child care, dinner and activities to keep the young ones happy while you enjoy the banquet dinner and entertainment. Play along during the 50/50 heads-or-tails game supporting OSA's scholarship program, and enter a chance to win half of the game funds raised.
