The tournament was a HUGE success and by all accounts a great time was had by all. Congratulations to Doug Bland and his partner Bill Murphy on their hard fought victory over the teams of Ben Jansen / Grant Cook and Josh Goethe / Jay Lee in an exciting sudden death finish.

Your club has hosted countless local, statewide, and regional events with the best of hospitality and competence. You ve also helped many charitable organizations raise money, including our Fairway Outreach program. Ellis Maples designed a wonderful golf course for you all those years ago, and you ve graciously shared it in the spirit of serving the game in a most positive manner. 4 A Word From The Tee... For the first time CCC will host all club championship events on one Championship Weekend. Participants must choose whether to compete in the regular club championship or the senior club championship. Due to the different course set ups players may not compete in both. Men s Club Championship Entry Fee: $50 per player plus applicable cart fee 36-hole Stroke play event. Those wishing to compete for the overall club championship will play from the GOLD / BLUE tees. All other participants will play from the White tees. Lunch is included on Saturday and Sunday. Senior Men s Club Championship Entry Fee: $50 per player plus applicable cart fee 36-hole Stroke play event. Participants age will play from the WHITE tees. Super Seniors 62 and older will play from the BLACK tees. Lunch is included on Saturday and Sunday. Women s Club Championship Entry Fee: $25 per player plus applicable cart fee Participants will play from the RED tees. Lunch is included on Saturday and Sunday. The age group will play 18 holes each day from the white tees. The age group will play 18 holes each day from the blue/gold tees. Juniors make plans to compete for your championship.

6 A Word From The Golf Course Superintendent The temperatures have climbed and summer is in full swing. June has been a productive month around the golf course and July is shaping up to be a great month too. As we have in the past few years, we will be aerifying greens this month. Due to scheduling, the aerification will be compressed into 4 days (7/9-7/12), but the recovery should be similar. We appreciate your patience during this time. I would like to thank everyone for their support over the years. Jim Young Golf Course Superintendent Goodbye, Jim! For those of you who didn t already know the news, our CCC Superintendent, Jim Young, will be leaving the CCC team on July 12th. Jim has accepted a sales position with Simplot Agribusiness Company. This opportunity provides Jim, his wife Jennifer and their three children the ability to move back home to Laurens where they will be closer to family. Jim's hard work and dedication is to be admired and we cannot thank him enough for his 9 years serving as our Head Superintendent. We wish Jim and his family the best of luck and great success in his new position! Should you see Jim around in the coming weeks, please be sure to share a warm farewell. One of the most common swing characteristics / flaws in amateur golfers is early extension. Early extension occurs when the lower body moves toward the golf ball during the downswing. This swing fault causes the arms and torso to get stuck behind your body during the downswing, and forces your torso to raise up and elevate through the hitting zone. Early extension usually causes two typical miss hits, the block to the right and a hook left (for righthanded players). Players that have this fault will also complain of getting stuck or trapped, this is due to the fact that lower body has moved closer to the golf ball on the downswing. The next handicap league match is July 30th at Golden Hills. The Member/Guest tournament will be Wednesday, September 13th and Thursday, September 14th.

There are fun activities planned for Wednesday night, after the practice round, and a nice luncheon will follow the round Thursday.

Our Silver Cup matches are well underway, with some very close contests and lots of fun taking place. Our next team match is July 12th at Oak Hills. The next handicap league match is July 30th at Golden Hills. The Member/Guest tournament will be Wednesday, September 13th and Thursday, September 14th. A sign-up sheet will be in the locker room soon so please register your team as soon as possible. There are fun activities planned for Wednesday night, after the practice round, and a nice luncheon will follow the round Thursday. We always have a good crowd and enjoy showing off our course to the visiting ladies so please plan to participate. All for now.
