1 CELEBRATING 24 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Washington DC Chapter - American Singles Golf Association November 2015 ASGA Washington DC Chapter Annual Membership Meeting And Results of the 2016 Board of Directors Elections About 20 members of the ASGA DC Chapter gathered on Sunday afternoon at O Malley s Pub in Tyson s Corners for our Annual Membership meeting (thanks to Heidi Moos for making the arrangements). While enjoying good fellowship, varied appetizers, and adult beverages, the 17 members who volunteered their time and effort as Event Coordinators in 2015 were recognized and thanked with gift certificates. We had a great day on the links. Mother Nature was a lot kinder to us this weekend than our Oct. 3 rd Rain Out Date. We had partly cloudy skies, Fall tree coloration, low 60-degree temps with a wind & No rain. We saw some leaves on the ground, heard leaves rustling in the trees, saw squirrels burying nuts, lost a few balls, encountered fast greens & some ball grabbing fairway rough grass & lots of soaring birds. 17 golfers came out to play at Shenandoah Valley Golf Course & enjoyed playing the Red & White courses. After golf we briefly gathered at SVGC & then headed over to Houlihans Restaurant for drinks, tall tales, CTP Par 3 awards & dinner. ASGA-DC is going to join the Cosmopolitans at their Toys for Tots Happy Hour on Tuesday, December 1 at Chima's Brazilian Steak House in Tysons. This is a great way to kickoff the holiday season - and it is for a very worthwhile cause. (Note that the price of admission is either $10 and an unwrapped toy or $20 without toy. Our chapter currently has 109 members. Rules and More Rules Ball on green moved by dropped putter Larry was approaching his ball on the green so that he could mark his ball. As he was bending to mark the ball, he accidentally dropped his putter which fell and hit his ball causing it to move. While everyone was trying to figure out the consequences of this accident, Larry the rules czar said, "Hold on guys, Rule 20-1 says there is no penalty if a player accidentally moves his ball in the process of lifting it." Was Larry correct? What, is the correct ruling? A. No penalty. Larry was correct in saying that there is no penalty if a player accidentally moves his ball in the process of lifting it, Rule B. One stroke penalty. Larry was correct in saying that there is no penalty if a player accidentally moves his ball in the process of lifting it, Rule Unfortunately for Larry, the rule does not apply in this situation. One stroke penalty. C. Two stroke penalty. Larry was correct in saying that there is no penalty if a player accidentally moves his ball in the process of lifting it, Rule Unfortunately for Larry, the rule does not apply in this situation. Two stroke penalty Answer The answer is B. There is a one stroke penalty. The movement of the ball was not directly attributable to the specific act of marking the ball position or lifting the ball.
