2 CONDITIONS 1. Rules: All competitions will be run under ESNZ GR s, VR s & ESNZ Rules for Dressage and FEI GR s, VR s and Rules for Dressage (ED 2011) where applicable. 2. Amendments: The OC reserves the right to alter the programme/schedule and/or prize money within the ESNZ GR s/dressage NZ Rules. 3. Qualifying classes: Horses may only be entered for qualifiers for one Level (Grade) Championship 4. Qualification: NZ Championship MES (Minimum Eligibility Score) for all Horses & Ponies: MES must be gained in at least one grading competition since 1 January 2010 until date of close of entries below. Proof of MES and the classification of event must be submitted. (Local LE, Regional RE or National) Note condition 5 re balloting. Freestyle scores may not be submitted as MES. Challenge Finals: Levels 1 & 2: 63%, Levels 3 & 4: 60%, Levels 5, 6/7 57%, Level 8 55% National Classes: Levels 1, 2 3: NO qualification but horses may be balloted on performance if excessive entries are received Levels 4: 60%; Levels 5 & 6/7: 57%; Level 9 55% FEI (International) Classes RIDERS MUST ALSO SUBMIT FULLY COMPLETED FEI ENTRY FORM WHICH SHOWS DETAILS OF FEI REGISTRATION & HORSE PASSPORT DETAILS SEE page 19. CDI*** horses must have FEI Passport. CDIY horses only require FEI Rego. All FEI riders require FEI Rider REGO CDI/Y: Combinations must have earned 57% (overall score) at a Regional Show or Island Championship in the FEI Prix St Georges, Int I or Test 6.4 since 1 May 2010 to enter the CDI/Y Young Rider Individual Test. Once the CDI/Y has been entered, combinations must achieve 58% in the YR Ind Test at the CDI/Y to qualify to compete in the YR Freestyle. Any combination not gaining 58% will be automatically transferred to a CDN Freestyle but no prize money will be awarded CDI*** (Grand Prix): Combinations must have earned 55% in a Grand Prix Test at a Regional Event, ICH or INT since 1 May Combinations must earn 58% in the GP at the CDI to qualify for the Freestyle. Combinations not scoring 58% in the GP will be automatically entered in the CDN Freestyle. 5. Balloting: In all levels, horses/ponies may be balloted if there are excessive entries. In principle there will be a limit of approx 35 starters per class. Riders should submit the horse/pony best 3 scores and the average of these scores at Regional or National Events in the level entered since 1 January 2010 and if balloting is required, priority will be given to the best performed horses on this basis. If this information is not provided for any horse or pony they will be first to be put on the wait list. 6. Challenge & YDH Qualification after close of entry: Combinations who qualify for National Challenge Finals & Astek Stud YDH after the closing date of 26th January 2011 may enter these additional classes subject to all other entries & fees having been received and paid by 26th January Additional entries are required by the following dates: Wairarapa 4 th Feb, NICH 11 th Feb, Northland 18 Feb, Waitemata 25 th Feb. Please notify the on entry form if you plan to qualify for the CH final after the closing date of entry. COMBINATIONS who qualify for Challenge finals after close of entry but have not qualified to enter the Championship Qualifying Classes may enter the Challenge Final only, but late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the OC to fill the place of withdrawals. 7. Upgradings: To be notified immediately to Sara Bright. Failure to do so prior to show will result in no refund and additional entry fees charged. Any other changes at event, a fee of $15 per class is applicable. 8. Young Dressage Horses: Must have qualified during the current 2010/11 season to enter. Qualifying event, Level & Score must be entered on Page 13. Qualification for YDH in Challenge Classes: 4yr olds: 63% in Level 1 or Level 2 Challenge Qualifying Classes or 63% in 4yr old FEI Preliminary Young Horse Test 5yrs olds: 63% in Level 2 Challenge or above Qualifying Class or 63% in 5yr old FEI Preliminary Young Horse Test 4, 5 or 6yr olds: 57% in Level 3 or above Challenge Qualifying Test or 6yr old Dressage NZ 6yr old Young Dressage Horse Test Please refer to 2010/11 Dressage Handbook or Dressage NZ website for finals tests. All Young Dressage Horse Finalists must send a copy of proof of age- either COPY of back page validated ESNZ ID Book, or a breed society registration certificate at time of entry. 9. Presentation of Prizes & Prize Money: See article 485. Presentation times will be advised in the program. The OC reserves the right to substitute prize money with goods to the equal value. All prize money will be paid by post within 21 days of the event. The OC reserves the right to withhold prize monies should a placegetter not attend an advertised prize giving. Riders who have conflicting class times must nominate another person to the Event Scretary at the event office to collect their prizes/rosettes at the prizegiving. 2

3 10. Equal Placings: In the case of equality in any qualifying class, the higher collective marks will determine the higher placing. If the competitors are still equal then the higher co-efficient marks will determine the placings. If there is still an equality of points, the competitors are given the same placing. 11. Draw: If required, a revised draw and/or start times for the following day s competition will be available 6.30 pm each evening on the results board. The OC reserves the right to alter the program to ensure the smooth running of the event. It is the rider s responsibility to check any new times posted. 12. Identification Papers: ESNZ Horse IP Books must be available at all times during the event. FEI Passports are required for Classes 34 & CDI*** (Classes 34 & 36) & CDI-Y (Classes 38 & 39) are Run Under FEI Rules see separate FEI Schedule available from or send S.A.E to Mary Craine 21 Ransom St, Dannevirke. 14. RIDERS WITH MORE THAN 2 HORSES: The OC will make every effort to ensure that riders have at least 60 minutes between rides. However, if this is not possible owing to the scheduling of classes, the maximum time possible between rides will be allocated. 4 MANFEILD CENTRE / DNZ RULES GENERAL 1. NO DOGS ARE PERMITTED AT THE EVENT 2. NO SMOKING IN ANY BUILDINGS OR IN STABLE AREAS 3. Neither Manfeild, ESNZ, or ESNZ Dressage nor any representative of these bodies, accepts any liability for any loss, damage, injury or illness to horse/pony/rider, spectators, land, vehicles or any personal property whether caused by their negligence or breach of contract in any way whatsoever. 4. Manfeild, ESNZ, or ESNZ Dressage shall not be liable for the safety of any goods/equipment or the loss of, or damage to such goods and equipment, brought in/stored at the venue, during the period of use. 5. Any Damage to Manfeild Centre facilities to be reported immediately to the Manfeild Office or DNZ Event Office. 6. Safety hats must be worn at all times when schooling at the Manfeild Centre except as in DNZ Art 480 re re safety hats & top hats during competitions. 7. All horses and ponies on the grounds must be entered at the event unless the OC gives express permission otherwise. VEHICLES & ACCESS Refer to Rider Notes sent with draw for further information 8. Access to venue after 8.30pm will be via KawaKawa Rd. All gates will be locked at 10.30pm daily. For access after that time arrangements will need to be made with on site security 9. There is NO vehicle access around the stadium area 10. SPEED LIMIT FOR ALL VEHICLES 15 KPH. Motorbikes may not be used after 8.30 pm & must be used in accordance with normal road rules. Any competitor contravening these rules will be fined & immediately eliminated from any further participation in the show. Joy riding on any part of the grounds at any time will not be tolerated. Junior drivers (under 16yrs) must only use motorbikes under parental supervision. CAMPING & POWER SITES Refer to Rider Notes sent with draw for further information 11. Parking & camping areas will be defined. Some areas will be restricted to on site camping/parking only. Day competitors must only park in designated day parking areas. 12. Trucks and Campervans using the powered sites MUST have a valid electrical certificate and under no circumstances will allow other vehicles to connect to their vehicle via extension cords. Offenders will be fined. Trucks will be allocated specific powered sites 13. Please be tidy and use GREEN BINS for all other rubbish NO ANIMAL WASTE IN GREEN BINS 14. Waste Water (Grey water tanks) must only be dumped in the WASTE WATER dump in the centre of the oval HORSE IDENTIFICATION, ACCOMMODATION & WASH DOWN BAYS 15. ESNZ horse identification numbers must be worn at all times when competing. When not competing, all horses should have ID tags or ESNZ numbers attached. It is requested that during non competition times these ID tags also include horse & person responsible name & contact. 16. All yards/pens/stables are to be left properly mucked out. Horse Muck bins will be located near each yard/stable area for this purpose. 17. No form of temporary yarding is permitted 18. No paddocks will be available 4

5 DAY 1: THURSDAY 3 RD MARCH NATIONAL CHALLENGE FINALS & YDH Round 1Qualifier RIDER CATEGORY CHAMPIONSHIPS & WARM UPS All National Challenge Finals will be held under ESNZ rules on Thursday 3 rd March. NO Friday classes are level/grade Championship qualifiers NATIONAL CHALLENGE FINALS 1. Thursday classes 3, 7, 11, 16, 21, 26 and 32 MUST BE RIDDEN FROM MEMORY. 2. Horses in Challenge Final classes 3, 7, 11, 16, 21,26 and 32 must have qualified at a RE (Regional) show during the season since 1 May Any horse/pony that has gained the following percentages in a Challenge Qualifier is eligible for the FINAL in that Grade at the Bates New Zealand Dressage Championship. 63% Level 1 Level 2 60% Level 3 - Level 4 57% Level 5, Advanced 55% Int II or GP 4. Run under special conditions as per article 465. Upgraded horses may compete in the final for which they have qualified. 5. There will be no equal placing in the Challenge Finals. Refer to DNZ Rule which will apply. 6. Horses/ponies downgraded as schoolmasters are not eligible to enter the final at the National Championships at any level within 12 months of the downgrade being approved. 7. Invited foreign competitors may enter Challenge Finals on the condition they can provide proof they have met the qualifying criteria (as per condition 3 above) as a combination in their country of residence. DAYS 2 & 3 FRIDAY & SATURDAY QUALIFIERS FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS 1. Points are allocated 20 for 1st, to 1 for 20 th in all qualifying classes denoted * on Friday (Day 1) 2. Points are allocated 30 for 1st to 1.5 for 20 th in all qualifying classes denoted ** on Saturday (Day 2) 3. Both championship rounds Level 1 Level 5 must be entered no entries at event 4. ADVANCED RIDERS. Riders who wish to qualify for Class 30 (ADV Musical Freestyle) hould send a separate entry fee cheque for that Class ($45.00). Riders who only wish to nominate for Class 31 (Test 6.4) should include that entry fee with entries. Riders who do not qualify for the ADV MFS and wish to enter 6.4 must accept at the office by 4pm Saturday 5. YOUNG RIDERS may enter the Advanced Classes or the CDIY on Friday & Saturday NOT BOTH 6. For Grand Prix Championships there are separate titles for the Grand Prix & the Freestyle. 7. For Grade Champions & Reserves: Level 1 - Advanced:. The horse with the highest aggregate allocated points from two classes will be the Championship winner. In the event of a tie, the combination with the highest place in the final qualifier is the winner. If there is still a tie, the combination with the highest aggregate collective marks in the final qualifier will be the winner. If there is a further tie, the combination with the highest average % in two qualifiers will be the winner. 8. All championship final tests marked ** on Saturday, Classes 6,10,15,20,25,30,36/37 MUST BE RIDDEN FROM MEMORY. 9. All Grade Champions receive a Bates presentation rug & rosette. 1st 5th placegetters in all championship final classes receive a Bates rosette. 5

In all equestrian sports the horse must be considered paramount. 2. The well-being of the horse shall be above the demands of breeders, trainers, riders, owners, dealers, organisers, sponsors or officials. 3. All handling and veterinary treatment must ensure the health and welfare of the horse. 4. The highest standards of nutrition, health, sanitation and safety shall be encouraged and maintained at all times. 5. Adequate provision must be made for ventilation, feeding, watering and maintaining a healthy environment during transportation. 6. Emphasis should be placed on increasing education in training and equestrian practices and on promoting scientific studies in equine health. 7. In the interests of the horse, the fitness and competence of the rider shall be regarded as essential. 8. All riding and training methods must take account of the horse as a living entity and must not include any technique considered by the FEI to be abusive. 9. National Federations should establish adequate controls in order that all persons and bodies under their jurisdiction respect the welfare of the horse. 10. The national and international Rules and Regulations in equestrian sport regarding the health and welfare of the horse must be adhered to not only during national and international events, but also in training. 11. Competition Rules and Regulations shall be continually reviewed to ensure such welfare. One rider may ride three horses if they are the owner or regular rider, otherwise up to two horses, provided these horses are being ridden throughout the event 4. All horses and riders in each team must be from the same area, except that, if an area has only two horses/riders available, one volunteer combination from another area may be used provided their area does not require them 5. The opposite Island to where the event is being held may compete as an Island Team if it doesn t have enough competitors to make an Area Team 6. Classes 5,9,14,19,24,26/27,34/35 count for team points 7. Points allocated are 10 for 1 st, 9 for 2 nd down to 1 for 10 th. Lower placings don t score 8. In the event of a tie, the combined points of the two highest placed horses in each team will count 9. Teams to be submitted to Event Secretary by 8:30am Thursday 3rd March 2011 on official forms 10.
