Winks Indisposed Race 1 EASTCOAST PLUMBTEC SALE MAIDEN PLATE metres: Prior to the event, jockey B. Melham advised that after consultation this morning with trainer R. Smerdon, it was the intention to ride Politeness further back in the race with the hope that the filly would settle and finish the race off better. Politeness was ridden in a midfield position with cover. The explanation tended by stable representative for trainer R. Smerdon regarding Politeness arriving 25 minutes late on course, was accepted. As Go Home Cecilia proved a little difficult to load in the barriers, trainer P. Carey was advised that a warning was recorded against the filly s behaviour today. Gypsy Whisper was slow to begin. Jamalka, which was a little show on leaving the gates, was inconvenienced when Serene Pearl shifted out. For several strides approaching the 800 metres, Go Home Cecilia got its head up. Near the 800 metres, Abichi was momentarily steadied when Politeness shifted in. Near the 700 metres, Gypsy Whisper was taken a little wider when Politeness shifted out. Passing the 600 metres, Essie s Pride was momentarily tightened between Go Home Cecilia and Flametree of Thika, which shifted in and then for a short distance after this, Essie s Pride was held up for a run until straightening. When under pressure in the home straight, Flametree of Thika lay in.

2 When under pressure in the early part of the home straight, Shimmering Star layed in, obliging R. Maloney to change the whip to his left hand. R. McLeod, rider of Flametree of Thika which was having its first start, explained that the filly would be better suited at a distance further than today s event. A post race veterinary examination of Serene Pearl revealed the filly to have a poor recovery rate. Race 2 EASTCOAST PLUMBTEC MAFFRA MAIDEN PLATE metres: On leaving the gates, Single Days, Gridhian and Robbo s Tiger were tightened between Godiva Rock and Sboog, both of which shifted ground. Near the 1000 metres, Sboog and Coronation Shallan became badly unbalanced after coming together and shortly after, Sboog was steadied to avoid the heels of Single Days (A. McCabe), which shifted in when not clear. In the circumstances, A. McCabe was severely reprimanded. Approaching the 700 metres, Robbo s Tiger and Godiva Rock came together. Near the 700 metres, Sboog shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of Robbo The Bold, unbalancing that gelding. Passing the 600 metres, Sboog and Godiva Rock bumped on several occasions when racing tight. In the home straight, Coronation Shallan had a tendency to lay in under pressure. C. Williams, rider of Godiva Rock, third placegetter, which was having its first run back from a spell, explained that the filly will benefit from today s run. A post race veterinary examination of Godiva Rock did not reveal any obvious abnormalities and a post race sample was taken. When questioned M. Walker (Toyed) stated that he was instructed at the mare s previous start to ride the mare conservatively with a view to helping the mare finish the race off. He added that the mare began well today and he allowed Toyed to settle in a midfield position. Race 3 EASTCOAST PLUMBTEC BAIRNSDALE MAIDEN PLATE metres: Camacho was slow to begin. Approaching the 1200 metres, Squires Bay was restrained when overracing resulting in More Than Ameira, which was following, being steadied. Sassy Ann, which was following, was steadied and shifted out to avoid More Than Ameira s heels. Sassy Ann then raced wide without cover for the remainder of the event. On two occasions passing the 600 metres, Our Josephina lay in towards the heels of Moosem, and when under pressure in the home straight, layed in. Approaching the rounding the home turn, Squires Bay was held up for clear running. R. McLeod, rider of Camacho, which pulled up quickly passing the winning post, explained that the gelding hung out from the 1200 metres until on straightening and did not feel comfortable in its action. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. G. Boss, rider of Squires Bay, which performed below market expectations, explained that over the concluding stages and on pulling up, he was concerned with the gelding s action and for this reason did not ride Squires Bay to the post. A post race veterinary examination of Squires Bay revealed him to be

3 lame in the off foreleg. J. Leek Jr was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness was required for the gelding prior to racing again. D. Stackhouse (Our Josephina) explained that as the mare was having its first race start and had shown a tendency to lay in during its work, his was instructed to settle the mare back and close to the rail. He added that after beginning very well, he took hold of Our Josephina, which reacted and shifted out, consequently losing ground. After the event, trainer M. Fahler reported that Sassy Ann had suffered a slight laceration to its off foreleg. R. Plumb was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner consecutively prior to the 100 metres. Race 4 EASTCOAST PLUMBTEC LAKES ENTRANCE MAIDEN PLATE metres: On leaving the enclosure, Dee bond made contact with the mounting yard fence and on arrival at the barriers, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Whilst parading behind the barriers, Estiquet knuckled dislodging its rider I. Culliver. Estiquet then galloped riderless for some distance before being caught. Subsequently, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Estiquet at 2.07 p.m. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on the late scratching to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets Angels Crown - 0 cents; Place Bets (For Winner) Angels Crown - 2 cents; Place Bets (For 2) Cadillac Mountain 2 cents; Place Bets (For 3) Deebond 3 cents *All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket. I. Culliver, rider of Estiquet, was examined by the Medical Officers and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements. On leaving the gates, Rodway and Chenery Meadow were tightened and Allez Le Rouge was checked, when tightened between Burkina, which was taken out by Kelvy, which began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly, and Simply Simon, which was taken in by Angels Crown, which shifted in. Deebond and Anchor Lady were both slow to begin. On occasions in the early and middle stages, Chenery Meadow raced with its head up. For a considerable distance in the middle stages, Deebond overraced. For the majority of the event, Angels Crown raced wide without cover. Approaching the 100 metres, Dancing Daisy was momentarily steadied and shifted out across the heels of Rodway and shortly after, was eased when disappointed for a run between Deebond and Rodway, both of which shifted ground under pressure. V. Duric, rider of Rodway, explained that the gelding was one-paced throughout the event, however; was still disappointing in the way that it finished off the event. M. Walker (Chenery Meadow), which was having its first race start today, reported that the gelding had a very awkward action and disappointed in its performance.

4 Race 5 EASTCOAST PLUMBTEC 25 BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY SHOWCASE 0-64 HANDICAP metres: Sacred Dream commenced awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Gold Viper. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, Mr Mo shifted out and bumped heavily with Dubai To Dublin. In the early and middle stages, Hot Power raced wide without cover before being allowed to stride, to take up a handy position near the 1200 metres. For the majority of the event, Gold Viper raced wide without cover. For a short distance approaching the home turn, Earthbound was held up for a run. On straightening, Fire Truck, which had been racing tight between Lord Finesse and Dubai To Dublin, was hampered and eased, when tightened by Dubai To Dublin, which after initially being taken out slightly by Hot Power (M. Walker), then shifted away slightly from that horse. In all of the circumstances, no direct action was taken against any one rider, however; M. Walker was advised he must exercise greater care when shifting ground. Near the 100 metres, Riviera Star had to be steadied when tightened for room between Gold Viper and Abraxas, which shifted out. Race 6 EASTCOAST PLUMBTEC TRARALGON SHOWCASE BM70 HANDICAP metres: On jumping away, Uno No was steadied and lost ground, when tightened for room between Stratocracy and Zatopek Lane, which shifted out. Ananias was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, Secret Wand was steadied when awkwardly placed between Bachelor Royal and Harveys True Heart, which was taken in slightly by Tycoon Rob. In the early stages both Taddei Tondo and Stratocracy overraced. Secret Wand raced wide during the early stages before being allowed to stride to take up a position outside the leader near the 800 metres. Approaching the 100 metres, Harveys True Heart was inconvenienced when Taddei Tondo (P. Moloney) shifted in under pressure. App P. Moloney was reprimanded and advised to excise more care. G. Boss, rider of Overdrawn, which performed below market expectations, explained that the gelding failed to stretch out over the concluding stages and in his opinion, there may be something amiss with Overdrawn. A post race veterinary examination of Overdrawn did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. C. Newitt, rider of Harveys True Heart, reported in his opinion, the gelding was galloped on that during the race. A post race veterinary examination of Harveys True Heart confirmed a laceration to its off hind fetlock. B. Loy, rider of Uno No, explained that he was concerned with the gelding s action passing the 600 metres where on several occasions it dipped and in his view, was not suited by today s track condition. He added that as a consequence, he did not ride Uno No out to the best of his ability, in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any obvious abnormalities.

5 Race 7 EASTCOAST PAINT PLACE LAKES ENTRANCE 0-64 HANDICAP metres: A veterinary examination of Manator prior to the race, revealed a small discharge of blood from a superficial laceration to its near side nostril, however; the gelding was passed fit to race. Going Good was slow to begin. In the early and middle stages, Grey Giggle raced wide without cover. G. Boss, rider of Resemblance, which commenced to give ground from the 600 metres and was eased down in the straight, could offer no explanation for the poor performance of the gelding. A post race veterinary examination of Resemblance revealed the gelding to be extremely distressed. A Stable representative for Mr M. Price was advised that prior to Resemblance racing again, a veterinary clearance, including the satisfactory results of an ecg and an endoscopic examination following a gallop, must be provided. J. Winks, rider of The Sicilian, which was eased over the concluding stages, explained that the gelding raced flat and in his opinion, there may be something amiss. A post race veterinary examination of The Sicilian did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. R. McLeod, rider of Going Good, explained that he dismounted shortly after the winning post as in his opinion the gelding had broken down. A post race veterinary examination of Going Good revealed the gelding to have injured his off fore tendon. Trainer P Carey was advised that a certificate of fitness must be provided prior to racing again. When questioned, N. Callow explained that he was having his first ride on Scenic Find today and that his instructions were to lead or if unable to do so, to settle behind the leader. He stated that he rode the gelding in the early stages and when it became clear that he could not lead Magnatune, he elected to take a sit just off that gelding. He added that for some distance in the middle stages, Scenic Find raced keenly and a little more forward than he had wished. Trainer L. Xuereb stated that his instructions to N. Callow were to take a sit behind the leader or alternatively, if the speed was not good, to go forward and lead. He added that in the past, Scenic Find has overraced when in a leading position. App K Nisbet(Magnatune) explained that she was instructed to lead however; when attempting to steady the gelding near the 1200m, Magnatune was reluctant to respond and raced keenly thereafter, setting a faster pace than she had intended. Race 8 EASTCOAST MITRE HANDICAP metres: Benambra and Rhiannon s Joy were slow to begin. Northern Journey commenced awkwardly. Shortly after the start, Stradale shifted out and bumped Come On Bill, which momentarily lost its footing and became unbalanced. Near the 300 metres, Lots Of Smacks was inconvenienced when tightened between Northern Journey and Benambra, which momentarily shifted out. Thereafter, Lots of Smacks had a tendency to lay out when under pressure. In the early and middle stages, Gonskexpress was inclined to overrace.
