Bella Sophia and She Makes My Day raced wide without cover for the entire event. Approaching the 100 metres The Bubba shifted in under pressure and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Oamaru Faith. V Duric, rider of Oamaru Faith, which was having its first start and sat outside the leader and gave ground in the straight, explained that the filly travelled well until placed under pressure rounding the home turn and was reluctant to race amongst other horses. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery. W Davis, rider of Bella Sophia, which was having its first start, reported that the filly raced greenly throughout. Race 2 TED BULL FUNERAL SERVICES MAIDEN PLATE metres: Ollie Runs Riot bounded on jumping and lost ground. Cumani, which was caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward and take up a leading position near the 800 metres.

2 Ben s Spirit raced wide without cover from the 800 metres. Add To It and Ollie Runs Riot were held up for a clear run from the 500 metres until approaching the 300 metres. Ben s Spirit made the home turn awkwardly. Approaching the 200 metres Add To It was disappointed for a run to the inside of Damo s Touch until the 100 metres. Approaching the winning post D Dunn (Damo s Touch), 2 placegetter, dropped his off side rein. C Newitt, rider of Isle Of Dreams, which performed below market expectations, could offer no excuse for the filly s disappointing performance and recommended to connections the addition of blinkers for the filly. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. J Noonan (Landuc), explained that he was instructed to settle the mare behind the leaders and, in his opinion, Landuc was very disappointing in its efforts today. Race 3 CONDO S HORSE TRANSPORT MAIDEN PLATE metres: Acting on a confirmed telephone call from trainer P White who stated that Longlea Lad had swelling to the off hind leg and was unsuitable to race, Stewards authorised the late scratching of the gelding at 5.35pm. P White was notified that he must submit a veterinary certificate with regard to Longlea Lad. Zaripova began awkwardly and shortly after shifted in and bumped with Ruckus (NZ). Near the 1100 metres Zaripova dipped. Capalbio was held up behind the tiring Our Lily from the 500 metres until upon straightening. Passing the 200 metres Zaripova lay in away from Origato (NZ) and as a result was accidentally struck across the head by the whip of C Robertson (Auramour). Approaching the 100 metres Capalbio shifted in under pressure and bumped with Raktified before being straightened by its rider, D Stackhouse. Near the 50 metres Capalbio, when improving up onto the heels of Zaripova, had to be eased and shifted out to obtain a clear run. J Benbow (Zaripova) 4 placegetter, explained that he was unable to ride the filly out in his normal manner over the final few strides due to being awkwardly placed between Auramour and the heels of Origato (NZ), which shifted in slightly. Race 4 SEN 1116 MAIDEN PLATE metres: Prior to race 1 C Newitt (Lighthouse Flame) advised Stewards that it was the stable s intention to have the filly ridden towards the rear of the field in an attempt to get Lighthouse Flame to finish off its race. Lighthouse Flame was ridden accordingly and won. Trainer T Hughes was severely reprimanded for presenting Captain Smith late into the mounting yard without the permission of Stewards. In considering penalty Stewards took into account the 30 minute gap between races and the fact that Mr Hughes was saddling the gelding, which was unruly, by himself.

3 Like A Carousel was held up from the 500 metres until the 200 metres. On straightening, Irun shifted out and brushed the hindquarters of Machine Age. Shortly after this Machine Age shifted in taking Irun in towards the running rail. Near the 150 metres Brothers Bent shifted in when laying in resulting in Like A Carousel being inconvenienced and tightened for room between that gelding and Machine Age. Brothers Bent then continued to lay in for the remainder of the event. Machine Age lay in under pressure when giving ground over the final 100 metres. During the running of the race Brothers Bent lost the off hind plate. K Mallyon, rider of Captain Smith, which performed poorly, explained that it was not her intention to lead tonight however, after being caught wide without cover in the early stages she allowed the colt to stride forward and take up the lead. She added that considering Captain Smith had done more work in the early stages than anticipated, she was not disappointed in the colt s effort. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Race 5 JOHN DUFF & CO 0-58 HANDICAP metres: Acting on a confirmed telephone call from trainer Y Harvey who stated that All Due Respect had swelling to all four legs and was unsuitable to race, Stewards authorised the late scratching of the gelding at 9.30am. Y Harvey was notified that she must submit a veterinary certificate with regard to All Due Respect. Mr Texico, when being restrained in the early stages, got its head up and raced ungenerously. Hemingway Royale raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Near the 500 metres Justwarmingup (NZ), when shifting out, was bumped on the hindquarters by Mr Texico. On straightening Kobe Queen shifted out to improve its position around Spiritstar and in doing so bumped Hemingway Royale. Odd Socks was held up for a short distance rounding the home turn. Rounding the home turn Cash To Splash was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of N Rose (Hemingway Royale). Passing the 200 metres Cash To Splash shifted in quickly when under pressure. Race 6 BOQ FRANKSTON SHOWCASE 0-68 HANDICAP metres: Correct weight was delayed to ascertain whether No Vanity was afforded a fair start. After viewing the film it was established that No Vanity was fractious in the barrier and commenced very awkwardly, losing ground. As Stewards were satisfied that NoVanity was afforded a fair start correct weight was declared. Near the 300 metres No Vanity was inconvenienced when tightened for room between Jacovian and Fire And Flood, which shifted in slightly.

4 Approaching the 150 metres Hot Pies was disappointed for a run between Grippet and Unfaithfully and as a result had to ease and shift out around the heels of Unfaithfully. A routine post race veterinary examination of Flash Back, which finished last, did not reveal any abnormality. A Blackburn, trainer of Flash Back, was questioned regarding the bona fides of the ownership of the mare. As Mrs H Perry, the registered owner of Flash Back had left the course the Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date and time to be fixed. Ms A Blackburn was notified that, until such time as the matter can be determined, Flash Back would not be permitted to be entered or accepted to race or trial. Race 7 PROCON DEVELOPMENTS 0-62 HANDICAP metres: Becketts Dream was slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the first occasion Shearer became unbalanced when bumped and taken in towards the running rail by Compound (NZ), which was taken in by Pixilicious (K Mallyon), which shifted in when not quite clear. K Mallyon was severely reprimanded and notified to exercise more care when shifting ground. Becketts Dream was held up for a clear run rounding the home turn until passing the 200 metres. J Fry, rider of Easton, which performed poorly explained that the gelding had to work hard in the early and middle stages when leading the field by some six lengths. He added that he was disappointed in the gelding s efforts to finish off the race considering that Inabeauti, which had led the race with him, still finished second. When questioned regarding Inabeauti leading today, which is contrary to its most recent starts, co-trainer C Alderson explained that the gelding has led over a similar distance in the past and it is all dependent on how Inabeauti jumps from the barriers. A Mallyon, rider of Dashiell, which was eased down in the straight, explained that he had to ride aggressively with the whip from the 1000 metres where the gelding commenced to give ground. He added that, in his opinion, the gelding felt normal in its action on return to the mounting yard. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from one nostril and was suffering atrial fibrillation. Trainer C Little was notified that due bleeding from one nostril Dashiell will now have to gallop over 1000m in front of the stewards prior to racing again. Further, prior to Dashiell racing again the gelding must gallop to the satisfaction of Stewards over 1000 metres and he must submit a veterinary certificate of fitness, including the satisfactory results of an ECG performed at rest and within 30 minutes of a gallop over not less than 1000 metres. Race 8 TAB SHOWCASE 0-68 HANDICAP metres: Prior to the declaration of correct weight C Symons (Whatanexcuse), 3rd placegetter, viewed the stewards' video before deciding not to lodge an objection. Rick s Lady was slow to begin. King s Shilling and Nate raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Stynes was held up for a clear run from the 500 metres until entering the straight. Prior to straightening Seguro had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Buster McGee, which shifted out. L Currie was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground.

5 Approaching the 200 metres Whatanexcuse (NZ) shifted out to improve its position and in doing so bumped Nate. Approaching the 150 metres Nate had to be steadied when racing tight between Whatanexcuse (NZ) and To Infinity, which shifted in. Shortly after this Whatanexcuse (NZ) raced in restricted room between To Infinity (A McCabe), which shifted in and Beneficiary (J Bayliss), which shifted out. J Bayliss and A McCabe were issued with reprimands and notified that they must do their utmost when shifting ground. Over the concluding stages Stynes, when held up, had to be steadied off the heels of Beneficiary, which shifted in. Over the final 50 metres Whatanexcuse (NZ), which was laying in, was taken inwards by To Infinity.
