Georgie Catania was advised that she must submit a medical certificate prior to riding in trackwork, trials or races. Stewards accepted the reasons provided by Trainers D and S Brunton for the late rider notifications in several races tonight and the dual engagement of Apprentice T Buck in Race 3. Jockey B McCoull submitted a medical certificate passing him fit to ride tonight. Jockey B McCoull pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 120(b) and was fined the sum of $100 for accepting the ride on Difrent for which he was subsequently found to be overweight and unable to fulfil his engagement. RACE 1 AUTOBARN MAIDEN/CLASS 1 PLATE 1620 METRES Aladoni and Sonetto were both slow to begin (1L). Windedo lost ground after being crowded on jumping between Neil s On Target which shifted in and Alive. Neil s On Target (R Yetimova) which was caught three wide in the early stages shifted in near the 1000 metres to obtain a position one off the rail and in doing so momentarily tightened Aladoni which was following. Rasit Yetimova was notified to exercise more care when in similar circumstances.

2 Brendon McCoull rider of Full Magnum which performed below market expectations explained that the colt travelled well until entering the home straight and then failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. A post-race veterinary examination of Neil s On Target which was uncompetitive revealed the gelding to have arrhythmia. Trainers K & T Hanson were advised that they must submit a veterinary certificate prior to Neil s On Target racing again. RACE 2 TASBONUS 3YO & UP MAIDEN PLATE 1220 METRES Fair Player was slow to begin (1L). Approaching the 900 metres Crazy Coen when being steadied commenced to over-race and made the 800 metre turn awkwardly. Crazy Coen continued to race ungenerously until approaching the 700 metres when it shifted in despite the efforts of the rider resulting in Must Confess having to be checked off its heels. Must Confess then shifted out causing Tyrekicker which was to its outside being taken wider, Five Star General then appeared to clip the heels of Tyrekicker. A post-race veterinary examination of Tyrekicker revealed the mare to have been galloped on sustaining a laceration to the off hind heel. Must Confess was held up near the 400 metres behind Teton s Poppy. Must Confess had to shift in approaching the 50 metres to obtain a clear run from behind Sheza Fatty Boomba. Rollinginthedeep (R Yetimova) layed out under pressure approaching the winning post, carrying Mundine wider on the track. Rasit Yetimova was reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding in that when his mount shifted out he made insufficient effort to straighten. Hayley McCarthy rider of Mundine pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137(a) careless riding in that after crossing the finish line she permitted her mount to shift ground inwards when insufficiently clear of Tyrekicker which had to be checked as a result. Stewards deemed the interference and carelessness to be of a medium level. Hayley McCarthy s licence to ride in races was suspended for one (1) Tasmanian race meeting to commence at midnight on 12 March 2014 and to expire at midnight on 19 March In arriving at penalty Stewards took into consideration Miss McCarthy s relative inexperience, her guilty plea and the level of interference. RACE 3 TASBONUS 3YO MAIDEN METRES The start was delayed when Flying Verdict had to be re-saddled behind the barriers. The start was further delayed 5 minutes when after being loaded into the barriers Bling Dynasty got its head down and became cast in the barrier before being removed and undergoing a veterinary examination. Bling Dynasty was declared a late scratching at 7.59 pm acting on veterinary advice. Prior to the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies invested on Bling Dynasty to be refunded in full with no other deductions necessary. Trainer M Burles was advised that Bling Dynasty must complete a satisfactory trial before the colt will be permitted to race again. Porto underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers before being passed fit to take its place in the field. Correct weight was delayed when Apprentice Bulent Muhcu and Michael Guthrie the trainer of Bustarooni wished to view the official film. After doing so they were satisfied and correct weight was declared. Shortly after the start Porto and Flying Verdict which shifted out bumped. Bustarooni (B Muhcu) had to be checked off the heels of Liberty Heights which laid in marginally approaching the 800 metres.

3 Porto shifted in abruptly approaching the 550 metres, struck the running rail and became severely unbalanced. Stable representative David Moore was advised that a warning has been placed on the gelding s racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Bustarooni was checked again near the 400 metres when racing in restricted room to the inside of Liberty Heights (S Wilson) when that filly laid in marginally after Fleur Danseur (K Moore) raced tightly to its outside. As Stewards could not attribute blame to any one rider, no further action was taken other than to advise all riders to exercise care when in similar circumstances. El Boliche shifted out approaching the 100 metres taking Flying Verdict wider on the track. Stewards intend to inquire into the whip use of Tyson Buck rider of Flying Verdict. RACE 4 VEOLIA ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES CLASS 1 HANDICAP METRES Ash For Cash was slow into stride. Diocese was slow to muster early speed. Diocese was placed in restricted racing room soon after the start when Hurricane Flyer, Cool Partner and Geegees Drummerboy were all racing tightly to its outside. Diocese then had to be steadied approaching the 1000 metres off the heels of Hurricane Flyer. Kwaboom and Geegees Drummerboy were both caught wide in the early and middle stages. Tyson Buck rider of Diocese pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR 137A(5)(a)(ii), the particulars being that he used his whip on 9 occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres which is 4 more than the requirement of the rule. After considering submissions on penalty and taking into account Apprentice Buck s recent record in relation to this rule, he was fined the sum of $300. A post-race veterinary examination of Star Of Egypt revealed the mare to have excessive discharge in the trachea. RACE 5 CARLTON DRAUGHT BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP METRES Success Dostta was slow to begin (1L). RACE 6 WEEDING PARTY HIRE CLASS 2 HANDICAP METRES Just Mouse was declared a late scratching at am by order of Stewards. Father Ned and Sariana s Quest both commenced to over-race approaching the 1000 metres. Willow The Wisp layed in under pressure entering the home straight. Deceitful Cove layed in under pressure approaching the 100 metres. When questioned on the apparent improved performance of Miss Elsa tonight, Trainer T Evans explained that the filly was caught wide at her last two starts. He also stated that in his opinion she preferred tonight s softer track conditions. RACE 7 NICHOLS BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2150 METRES Mister Baldock was declared a late scratching at 9.02 pm acting on veterinary advice after the gelding was injured in the float en route to the course suffering split and bruised hind feet and was treated on course. Trainer T Roles will be advised that he must submit a veterinary certificate prior to Mister Baldock racing again.

4 RACE 8 COATES HIRE BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1420 METRES Approaching the 1150 metres Savvy Princess was momentarily tightened by Heartbreak Lass which had shifted in. Guru Rez was held up passing the 400 metres between Bel Ombre and Lolly Delight. Jason Lyon rider of Bel Ombre pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR 137A(5)(a)(ii), the particulars being that he used his whip on 6 occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100 metres which is 1 more than the requirement of the rule. After considering submissions on penalty and taking into account Jockey Lyon s recent record in relation to this rule, he was fined the sum of $200. GENERAL Adjourned Inquiry Tasmanian Racing Club 9 March 2014 Race 8 Schweppes Benchmark 62 Handicap 2100 metres Kim Moore rider of Gee Gees Cool Kid was reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding in that she permitted her mount to shift ground inwards when insufficiently clear of Thorn Man (NZ) near the 700 metres. Bulent Muhcu rider of Thorn Man was also reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding in that after being inconvenienced by Gee Gees Cool Kid he then permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of Len s Luck which was taken wider and inconvenienced.
