Without a true trip note BUZZ horse I ll be playing very lightly and just using my two in the WPS pools. 1 Bel #5 Boomerang Toy (5-2) Our Eyes: Spot play rises in class off a win at the Spa but looks like a Lone F in a paceless race and may not even be favored either. Brian Nadeau Brian s Playbook: 2x win and 4x place and a must-use to kick off the Pk5. 5 Bel #7 Made of Steel (4-1) Our Eyes: Spot play steps up off a GP MSW win but now goes to Falcone, who is doing some good things in NY, and is unbelievable when he rides Rosario (34% from a 29-horse sample), plus the fresh new face angle applies in a race where the proven runners don t inspire. Brian Nadeau Brian s Playbook: Win, 2x place and 4x show and a mustuse to end the Pk5 and early Pk4. 1 GP #4 Dominate (7-2) Our Eyes: Moved boldly and was up in time despite running against slow fraction. GULFSTREAM PARK Jerry Shottenkirk s GP Preview: Dreams Cut Short is usually a solid play in the multi-race plays and today is no exception. The veteran has been bringing his best and should be in the mix from the beginning of the 7 th today. 7 GP #1 Dreams Cut Short (7-2) Our Eyes: Has been in very good form and has found his level. 2 LAUREL PARK DC Dino Herrera s Lrl Preview: Alleluia, six stakes races and my favorite Laurel stakes race, the Laurel Futurity, all running on Saturday. There are full fields in all six stakes that will include the legend Ben's Cat. 5 Lrl #7 Greatbullsoffire (3-1) Our Eyes: Has won at the distance and on turf at Lrl. 2 for 2 in wins. Appears to have enough early speed to either take the lead or lay close; three in a row? DC Dino Herrera Dino's Playbook: 5x win and 5x place. 6 Lrl #3 White Tights (10-1) Our Eyes: Like the turf breeding and like the fact that she will get the jump with her early speed. Cuts back in distance, tries turf for the 1st time and has well spaced workouts. Could scratch into R5 against the boys. DC Dino Herrera Dino's Playbook: Win and place bet. 7 Lrl #5 Tuttipaesi (3-1) Our Eyes: Ultra classy Mott horse will have to contend with 8-5 fav Onus. Will be closing from mid pack but if she can run to her Beverly D form should be right there in this Lady Baltimore stakes. DC Dino Herrera Dino's Playbook: Win and place bet. KENTUCKY DOWNS Jeremy Plonk s KD Preview: Day 3 of 5 at Kentucky Downs offers 4 stakes, including the G3 Kentucky Turf Cup, the centerpiece race of the meet. Defending champion Da Big Hoss looks to tower over his foes and rates a multi-race single that I would trust. After being shut out opening day, Florent Geroux got back to his KD winning ways on Thursday with multiple scores. 3 KD #15 Wicked Luck (5-1) Our Eyes: Needs to draw in off the AE list, but the Ellis 2YOs have dominated early in this meet and this filly had no chance behind a dawdling pace in her debut when rallying for 2 nd. Adds Lasix and rolls if she gets in. Jeremy Plonk Jeremy's Playbook: Win 15, EXBX15-6, DD 15,6 with 11, Pk3 15,6 with 11 with KD #11 Gridiron Cat (8-1) Our Eyes: Strong pace presence for a trip that his early foot and post will flatter. Signaled talent to me at Fair Grounds this spring behind talented Twiz and his last on turf at Arlington is promising. Jeremy Plonk Jeremy's Playbook: Win, place 11, tri 11-1-ALL and 11- ALL-1, DD KD #16 Star's Bella Vita (6-1) Our Eyes: Another that has to have some luck from the AE list, but she's working up a storm, turning back in distance and expected to fire fresh. Amoss barn already produced a BUZZ winner this meet in Galton (4-1) and this filly ran a good second here last fall, always key. Spencer s AP Preview: A couple of really nice full fields to end the day with the last two stakes races of the season, and Romeo O Romeo could be an aggressive way to end the day as he is bred big on the bottom side for the synthetic, and he proved that with a sharp try first out. 6 AP #6 Intrepid Humor (6-1) (turf or Poly) Our Eyes: Pace, honest splits, turned back first challenges, dug in to deep stretch, just overtaken late but stayed on nicely in solid come-home time. UPDATE 8/20/16: Pace, controlled tempo, opened up stretch, dug in to hold late. Can sit just off it here if necessary. Brian W. Spencer Brian s Playbook: Win, place bets. REMINGTON PARK 9 RP #1 Ginger Brick Road (15-1) Our Eyes: Just missed at 8-1 while wide on the main track and moves over to the turf for this one. Has won three grass races and will close well here. LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE Terry Turrell s LRC Preview: Only 33 horses entered in the first five races for the Pk5 and Pk4, but they are competitive. I will be active today playing the Pk5 and Pk4's. The trifectas have been providing a nice return on your investment. 3 LRC #6 Out of Patience (7-2) Our Eyes: Freshened since claimed in July by trainer Peter Miller and wheeled back at his purchase price making first start for new connections. In his last race he made a strong rail run late while not abused finishing 3 rd on his own. Miller barn strong ROI with runners first off the claim and gelding won at mile distance during Los Alamitos spring meet this year. His turf races have been against much better and he rates the edge here. She made a steady move to salvage minor check for low % Ricky Agarie. Jockey Tiago Pereira is fresh off a strong Del Mar meet and retains the assignment. I liked her bullet 46 4/5 blowout and drop in class to bottom level claimers is a plus. 4 7 LRC #4 Classico (5-1) Our Eyes: Made only one start Del Mar, exiting a productive heat finishing 3 rd, returned to Los Alamitos home base for two works, back to Del Mar for three more works but could not find a race. He loves the Los Alamitos surface recording a nice win during the spring meet this year. Trainer Doug O'Neill had a sub-par Del Mar meet and I look for the cycle to turn and barn heat up.
