Race 8 Bel #8 Storm Prophet (5-1) (turf only) Our Eyes: Spot play had middling form this summer but now returns as a first-time gelding off the proper spacing too so in a race where no one else stands out, the ultimate equipment change could be all he needs. Brian Nadeau Brian s Playbook: Win, 2x place and 3x show and a mustuse in the late Pk5 and 300k guaranteed late Pk4. Race 8 SA #1 Danilovna (7-2) (turf only) Our Eyes: 9/22 Reserved, looped field in hand entering far turn, hit the front with ease, seemed to lose focus a bit while still under a lock, with ease and with much, much more in the tank; could be a monster. GULFSTREAM PARK WEST Jerry Shottenkirk s GPW Preview: A pair of dependable veterans should play big roles in the late exotics. Express Jet (R8) and Metaphorically (R9) are two to watch out for in the later events. Race 8 GP #1 Express Jet (6-1) Our Eyes: Brings solid form into this and most recently went six wide and was up in time. Good closer in a perfect spot here. Jerry Shottenkirk Race 9 GP #11 Metaphorically (5-1) Our Eyes: Has shown versatility in running style and has taken his last two and 3-of-6. Tough campaigner can overcome an outside post. 2 REMINGTON PARK Race 3 RP #3 Runaway Romance (20-1) Our Eyes: Couldn t keep up with fast fractions sprinting in her debut and has the pedigree to stretch out to two turns. Likely to get a good trip just off the pace. Jerry Shottenkirk SANTA ANITA Jeff Nahill s SA Preview: Rain was supposed to hit the Arcadia area Friday morning so what happens to the two down the hill races on the grass on the card is anyone's guess, especially when one is the first race. Obviously, Santa Anita doesn't want to ruin the course before next week's Breeders' Cup races. I think the featured race at a mile on the turf will stay unless there was a monsoon. Terry Turrell s SA Preview: The turf races might come off to protect next weeks Breeders Cup. Two of the three are down the hill, with the, temporary rails at 20 (management will take no chances). The weather will determine how active I will be. There s a good late Pk4 key play today. Race 4 SA #5 We Go Now (7-2) Our Eyes: this son of Lucky Pilpit didn't like going two turns at all so trainer Cliff Sise cuts him back to one turn. This 2- year-old has shown speed in all but one of his races and that's always good when dropping from MSW to maiden claiming for the first time. Jeff Nahill Jeff s Playbook: 3 units to win, 4 units to place and 6 units to show. Race 5 SA #9 Silver Summer (12-1) Our Eyes: Big win down the hill for his first win and will have red-hot jockey Kent Desormeaux aboard today for low profile barn of Tony Saavedra. He beat #10 Nat s Nation who is the morning line favorite today early in the year. Terry Turrell Terry s Playbook: Bet to win, tri 9,10 w 3,9,10 w ALL. Race 7 SA #2 Bobby G (4-1) Our Eyes: We liked this 2-year-old on the stretchout last time and he almost got the job done, finishing fourth by less than a length. He gets some extra distance here and Flavien Prat sticks with him. Jeff Nahill Jeff s Playbook: 4 units to win, 5 units to place and 6 units to show. #7 Sonneteer (5-2) Our Eyes: Beat nose making only second career start racing extremely wide throughout sprinting. Has plenty of talent and should relish two turns and longer distance. Terry Turrell Terry s Playbook: Bet to win, key in exotics. Race 8 SA #1 Danilovna (7-2) (turf only) Our Eyes: 9/22 Reserved, looped field in hand entering far turn, hit the front with ease, seemed to lose focus a bit while still under a lock, with ease and with much, much more in the tank; could be a monster. He retains rider Stormy Smith, aboard for his last two wins and should offer value vs. local accomplished rivals One Proud Eagle and Kissed By An Eagle. Race 6: If you ve watched any 2YO turf MSWs at Keeneland and leave out Lukas and/or Casse, it s a risk. Race 9: Noble Bird solid but finally finds a field with some pace pressure (ala Mr Z, Iron Fist). Divining Rod sits a great trip just off them for a Delacour barn that s been nothing short of amazing lately.
