Race 9 Pim #2 Political Farce (9-2) Our Eyes: NY shippers have done quite well at Lrl and now Pimlico. OAKLAWN PARK Race 3 OP #9 Commandment (3-1) Our Eyes: Has rallied very well vs. similar and can get going earlier against these. Has the best kick and can prevail in the closing strides. Has had three useful works since his latest and can get back to good form. Her trip not the best as she was fourth on the far turn, tried to squeeze through on the rail, encountered traffic mid stretch losing momentum and all chance. Race 7 SA #9 Party Rock (4-1) Our Eyes: Trainer Bob Baffert drops this daughter of Good Journey into a claimer for the first time. When he does that he wins 38% of the time. Race 8 LA #3 Jess Boots (10-1) Our Eyes: In a wide-open sophomore allowance dash, I will take a chance with a gelding who is adding the flipping halter after breaking slow in last eventually finishing 7 th. Protonico is a total guess off a DNF, but working well for Pletcher. A reliable veteran closes late. Win 3. Exacta boxes 3-1 and 3-4. One of my top-rated 2YOs of 2014, Conquest Bigluck E was slow to come around this winter for Casse or he could have been a serious threat on the US trail. He finds a great return spot and is capable sprinting. Must outrun Ward gunner. Win 3. Exacta 3-1 and 3-5. Kee turf has been very soft in limited usage this meet and the European experienced and/or bred types are relishing it. Look for top two choices here to handle the going and be the way to go. Bath have run well at Kee in past. Two-deep multis. Exacta box 4-3. Class tends to show the farther they go so the 1-1/8 miles trip may separate some of these winter hotshots at the Big A from the highquality returnees. Joint Return was part of an outstanding 3YO filly crop last year and gets pace to run down late. Win-place 3. Lightning-fast Masochistic perfectly suited for 6.5 furlongs and while there is other heat in this race, he s in another league. Look for closers to pick up the pieces underneath for the exactas. Sahara Sky has a big chance late while fresh. Exactas 6-4, 6-3, smaller 4-6. Upset chance on other Calhoun as every single horse in this race wants to go to the front. Quinonez a longtime grab and hold rider early who prefers to drop anchor and rally; coming out of routes, #6 just might have this race shape fall into her lap. Win-place 6. Southwest bid by Hillbilly Royalty on short rest was out of character for veteran barn that now takes its time, reloads and lures Mike Smith for an easier spot than the Ark Derby. Well-drawn and sits forward thru-out. Baffert s maiden has late run. Win 3. Exacta 3-8. Go West Marie has developed into a turf sprint specialist down the hill at Santa Anita and her last 2 have been stellar through traffic. Stevens finds the wire with her again. Theatre Star is bred to like this trip and offers pricy underneath option. Win 6. Exactas 6-1, 4-1. Thundergram was second with similar at Oaklawn and should be able to run right back w/ a similar or better effort. Tactical speed in a race lacking much pace and hot jock Bridgmohan for barn that s winning at nearly 30%. Scout Leader goes 3 rd off layoff and has done some of his best running at Keeneland. Late runner fits w/ these. Nominative moves up off a win while in great form. Can handle give in the ground for barn that s firing early. With tactical speed, can sit a perfect trip. Divine Luck unlucky not to win this condition last out; rested and well spotted. Final Redemption & Savings Account both coming off long layoffs but, if ready, fit. Dirt: Protonico is the likely favorite but vulnerable after being eased in the Donn Handicap. Working well since for trainer who wouldn t run if he weren t 100%, still prefer Farhaan making his first start since last summer and proven effective off the bench for barn on fire. Lack of any early pace works to advantage of Shadwell runner. Free to Dance makes first start of the year and training well w/ limited dirt experience. Son of Unbridled s Song has prior form good enough to win and with Leparoux up, may relax early and run big. Big Red Charlie 2 nd in both starts, beaten favorite logical to step up here. Dr Turkmen can sit off what may be hotly contested early pace; ran well here last fall While Free as a Bird goes for 7 th win in row and will be a deserving favorite, this is toughest test to date. Believe a freshened Ageless can turn the tables after nearly winning the BC Turf Sprint last fall. Both can handle give in ground appears to be 2 horse race as Jewel of a Cat should have pace pressure early. Dirt: Super Humor debuts for Casse--solid stats w/ first timers, and daughter of Super Saver working well. Same for Playtime, by Street Cry, who shows strong works for Shug McGaughey; like that he goes to Castellano. Bon Heir has benefit of experience and second in most recent try. Flying Jibe most experienced in field and improving. Wide open. Filimbi deserves another shot after a dud in first start of year in Tampa when she had gate trouble and never fired; 2 nd off layoff, better start and different track help. Emotional Kitten cross entered later in week; if Ward runs, it s with good reason. Ball Dancing knocking on door and fits. While Eden Prairie is the only real speed in race. Dirt: Donworth likely to take money off his debut a win despite trouble at GP. Connections scratched from an easier race Friday but jury out on what he beat. Comfort also moving up for Pletcher, who wins with new horses 24% but son of Indian Charlie has raced well around two turns. Tiznow RJ exits some tough preps, running credibly in most. Divining Rod also exiting tough races and likely one to catch up front. If Face the Music draws in from AE s, he ll be tough in 1 st start of year. Colt broke his maiden at Saratoga then battled for lead graded stakes before going to the sidelines. Araqeel makes only 2 nd try lifetime but impressive in debut, winning despite a lot of trouble.
