7 CUMBERLAND SHOW AGRICULTURAL SECTION RULES & REGULATIONS MEMBERSHIP 1. Membership shall be open to applicants on the following terms; Minimum Annual Subscription 24, Annual Subscriptions hall be payable on the 1st day of April, yearly Members and others may become Life Members of the Association. No Member is entitled to vote at a General or Special Meeting of the Association unless he or she has been a Member for fourteen days prior to such General or Special Meeting. POWERS OF THE COUNCIL 2. The Council shall have the power of settling the Prizes to be given at the annual or other Exhibition, fixing the place of such Exhibitions, filling up vacancies in the Council of Officers of the Society, defining their Duties, appointing Stewards of Departments, making or altering Bye-laws and settling all other matters in connection with the management of the Society. JUDGES 3. The Council shall appoint a sufficient number of duly qualified non-exhibitors to act as judges of Stock, implements, etc., whose reasonable expenses shall be paid by the Society. STOCK 4. All animals exhibited must be bona-fide property of the Exhibitor, and must have been the property of the exhibitor, and in the exhibitor s possession on 14th May 2018 except when otherwise specified. PROTESTS 5. All protests must be made in writing accompanied by a deposit of fifty pounds and handed to the Secretary not later than seven days after the Show except in the case provided for in the Premium list. When an animal is protested against or when the Council shall require him to do so the Owner shall prove correctness of the entry, or forfeit the prize awarded to him. In the event of the protest being unsustained and considered frivolous the above deposit shall be forfeited to the funds of the Society. ACCEPTED PROCEEDINGS IN THE CASE OF PROTEST 6. In all cases of protest, the parties shall be summoned to attend together at a meeting of the Council, called to adjudicate upon the matter, and unless the party protested against can clearly show that the award has been made in accordance with the Rules and Bye-laws of the Society, the decision of the judges will be confirmed. Should either party refuse or neglect to attend such Meeting when summoned, without explanation the dispute may be decided in his or her absence. DECISION OF THE COUNCIL 7. The decision of the Council upon the foregoing and all other mistakes or disputes shall be final. VIOLATION OF RULE 8. If it is proved to the satisfaction of the Council that any Exhibitor has attempted to impose upon the Society by means of a false certificate or any other misrepresentation, or has wilfully or knowingly violated any of the Rules of the Society, he shall forfeit the prize or prizes to which he may be entitled and shall be prohibited from exhibiting in future at the discretion of the Council; and if a Member, may be expelled from the Society. ENTRIES SECTION 9. All entries of Stock and Implements, shall be made on the printed forms to be obtained from the Secretary, and must be sent with all charges on or before the prescribed date. Entries will not be registered until fees are paid. A competitor may show more than one lot in any class. Any Exhibitor gaining a prize contrary to Special Rules and Bye-laws of the Society, or not complying with the requirements as stated in the premium list shall forfeit the prize. LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED 5

8 DESCRIPTION OF EVENTS 10. All entries of Stock must properly specify the full description of each animal by registration number, age, name and pedigree where requested. 11. The charges of exhibits shall be as stated in the Premium List. 12. Exhibitor and animal details will be included in the Show catalogue as entered. EXHIBITORS TICKETS, ETC 13. Exhibitors will be sent wristband passes according to animals entered. Horse Number Cards will be sent to exhibitors and such cards must be worn by rider/handler. Cattle and sheep numbers will be obtained from stewards. Corresponding numbers will be placed on stands which they are to occupy. TIME 14. All animals to be in their respective stalls by the time stated on the Premium List on the morning of the Show, and must remain until after the Parade. No animal or article shall be moved from the place assigned to it during the Show, under a Penalty of 20 for breach of this Bye-law, without the sanction of the Chairman of the Show Ground Committee or the Secretary except horses to be shown mounted, for which the exercise ring will be provided, All implements must be on the Show Ground not later than 8.00 am on the morning of the Show. STOCK 15. Stock exhibited must not be distinguished, either in the Show Yard or Ring by the name of the breeder or owner, or any prize card (until after the prizes are awarded) except by the Head Ticket or number given in the Catalogue. All bulls above one year old must be secured and led by a ring with a chain or rope attached, or they will not be admitted to the Yard, and Exhibitors are recommended to lead their foals in the Ring when shown with dam. No animal may come before the same judge twice except when shown for a Group, Special, Championship Prize or in the Horse section. Only First and Second Prize winners are eligible for Championship Prizes. STEWARDS 16. The Stewards of Departments are authorised to enforce all the regulations and conditions of the Prize Sheet as soon as the Judges in each case have their award, the Prize Exhibits shall be distinguished as the winners by the different coloured rosettes. The Stewards shall report to the Secretary the names of all persons who shall have failed to exhibit any of their stock entered for the Show, or having infringed or failed to comply with any of the regulations or conditions, or have been guilty of any malpractice in regard to the Show, and shall have power to disqualify any animal which does not comply with the conditions of entry. 17. No steward shall officiate in a ring in which he is an exhibitor without the special consent of the Livestock Committee. INSTRUCTION TO JUDGES 18. All Exhibitors and persons admitted into the Show yard shall be subject to the rules, orders and regulations of the Council. Servants in charge of Stock will be under the orders of the Stewards, and all persons in charge of animals must be in attendance at least one hour before the time appointed for exhibiting the animals in the Show ring and on parade. Owners of animals exhibited will be held responsible for the behaviour of their servants and for the consequences of any misconduct of such. PARADE 19. A general parade of such animals and exhibits as decided by the Show Yard Officials shall be held during the afternoon of the Show. The Exhibitor of any animal or Exhibit absent from the Parade without permission will be fined 20 and in the case of a prize animal the premium awarded shall be forfeited to the Society. LIABILITY 20. The Society will not be responsible for the loss or damage which any person, animal, dairy produce, implements, or other articles may sustain at the Show or in transit, nor for any charge for freight, carriage or delivery. Responsibility for insurance of animals and associated public liability lie with the owner and exhibitor. 6

9 GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION (GDPR) 21. By signing the entry form, exhibitors accept that we will share their data, if necessary, with the bodies and breed societies listed below. Data will be published in our Show Programme, and be on the Society s website, Facebook & Twitter pages and given to the local press with regards to the Show s results. 10 SAFETY AT THE CUMBERLAND SHOW IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL LIVESTOCK EXHIBITORS The Society intends to provide a safe and healthy Show for all concerned and requires that Livestock Exhibitors fully comply with their responsibilities. Compliance with the Rules of the Society, H.S.E. Guidelines, Codes of Practice and Guidance Notes is a requirement. In Addition: 1. Exhibitors must use the segregated areas for livestock movement, loading and unloading where provided and when requested to do so. Exercising must not take place within any public areas. 2. Compliance with HSE Guidance Note AIS35 Safe Handling of Bulls is required. 3. Children must not be allowed to have control of large or fractious animals and all animals must be kept under the control of a capable and experienced person or persons. 4. Anyone riding a horse, pony or donkey must wear a skull cap or hat and safety harness according to the current BSI or European standards at all times. 5. All portable generators, power equipment and cables must be protected by a) self-earthing devices or a minimum 2 metre earthing rod and b) Residual Current Devices (RDC) set at no more than 30 MA sensitivity. All cables and sockets must be adequately glanded for use. 6. The Society reserves the right to insist on immediate removal from the Show Field of any animal threatening the safety of any person or property. MAJOR EMERGENCY In the unlikely event of a major incident, return to your animals and listen carefully to any announcements being made. 8

13 CUMBERLAND SHOW 2018 HORSE SECTION INTRODUCTION AND GUIDELINES FOR COMPETITORS Entry 2018 Wristband passes. Two wristbands will be allocated to the first horse, one for each subsequent horse up to a maximum of four wristbands. Wristbands must be worn on entry to the Showground. Anybody without a wristband will be charged for entry. Parking All Heavy, Light Horses and working hunter competitors must park as directed by official parking attendants. To aid traffic flow, competitors will be issued with a parking pass which must be displayed in the windscreen of your vehicle upon entry to the Showground. To gain access to the show rings all competitors must use the horse walk ways provided. Start Times Please note that there may be some traffic congestion leading up to and on the show field, therefore please allow plenty of time to arrive and prepare for your class. Under no circumstances will judging be delayed due to either the late arrival of competitors or to accommodate a competitor in another ring. Exhibits will not be allowed into the show ring once the command for trot has been given (ridden classes) or judging has commenced (In hand classes). Competitor Numbers Will be issued in advance of the show. Please ensure you are wearing the correct number for each of your classes as detailed in the catalogue. Failure to do so could jeopardise your qualification. Insufficient entries The committee reserve the right to amalgamate or split classes if necessary. Royal International Horse Show The Ridden Hunter and Working Hunter sections offer qualifying classes to RIHS A levy of 9 per class is included in the entry fee, which the Cumberland Show pays directly to the RIHS. The Cumberland Agricultural Society or any of its servants cannot be held responsible for any missing or incorrect registration details supplied. Olympia Horse Show - The Veteran horse/pony sections offer qualifying classes to The Olympia Horse show A levy of 10 per class is included in the entry fee, which the Cumberland Show pays directly to Senior Showing and Dressage Limited. Supreme Light Horse Championship - To be pre-judged at 2.00pm in the horse section, prizes will be awarded in the main show ring at 2.30pm. The Champion from each Light Horse section and will take part, provided that their section has finished in time, Exhibitors will be advised on the day where to gather and stewards will be available to escort them. A Supreme In-Hand and a Supreme Ridden Champion will be chosen. These will go forward to be judged in the Champion of Champions. Champion of Champions - The Champion Heavy Horse, Supreme In-Hand Light Horse Champion and Supreme Light Horse Ridden Champion will be eligible to compete in the Cumberland Agricultural Society Champion of Champions competition in the Main Show Ring at 2:45pm. 11

14 The Cumberland Show is currently affiliated to the following societies which may affect more than one section and competitors entering this show whether they be members or not of the society agree to abide by the rules of those societies: ALL EQUINE EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE NO EARRINGS, PIERCINGS OR VISIBLE JEWELLERY WILL BE ALLOWED BRITISH SHOW PONY SOCIETY (BSPS) Entries in these classes are open to all. Show Affiliation No. BSPS 59/18 The following class no s are affiliated to the BSPS 28 & 29 (LR & FR) 31 & 32 (LR HT & FR SHT) (SP & SHP), 39 & 40 (Heritage WHP), (WHP) (Heritage ridden). This show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) and all persons entering, competing, showing or otherwise taking part in BSPS classes, whether or not members of the BSPS are subject to the rules of the BSPS including the disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS. This show is a qualifier for the 2018 BSPS Championships to be held at Arena UK 22nd to 25th August The following will qualify 1st and 2nd prize winners 28, 29, 31, 34, 37, 38 & 43. BSPS Security Challenge This Show is a qualifier for the B.S.P.S. CHALLENGE The highest place pony in the Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Show Pony, SHP, WHP, Cradle Stakes, Nursery Stakes, Int SRT, SH, WH and Heritage M&M Lead Rein, First Ridden, Ridden & WHP. Animals must qualify for the Challenge by attending any B.S.P.S. affiliated Show and competing in the appropriate class. Ponies must not have qualified for the 2018 Horse of The Year Show in the appropriate class. BSPS Champion of Champions This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Champion of Champions, the Champion Mini Show Pony, the Champion Mini WHP, Champion Open WHP/WH, Champion Open SHP, Champion Intermediate, will qualify. In Mixed Height classes the first prize winner will qualify. BSPS Best Rider The best rider in each of the following classes affiliated to the BSPS will be awarded a qualifying card for the final at the 2018 Summer Championship Show:- Open Lead Rein, Open First Ridden, Open Show Ponies, Open Lead Rein Hunter Type, Open Show Hunter Ponies, Open Intermediate SRT, SH and WH Classes. BSPS Heritage WOW FACTOR Open to Ponies that have been placed First in Heritage affiliated Open/Restricted classes qualify for the Winner of Winners at the BSPS Summer Championship show. In Mixed height classes the first prize winner will qualify. CHAPS UK This show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Affiliation No Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held on 30th August- 1st September Shows held on or after the Postal Entry closing date of Championship Show will count as 2019 qualifiers. The following classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers (Classes 94-99). (CHAPS registered animals in classes 28 & 29, Side saddle class 20, Sport Horse class 27 and in the Veteran section classes may also qualify. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members Handbook; or visit for rulings. Only Skewbalds/Piebalds may compete these classes. 12

15 All stallions, 4 years old and over entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS (UK). All stallions must wear Stallion ID Discs in the ring without exception TGCA Affiliation No TGCA/06/18/011. Classes are qualifiers for the Best of Breed Finals at the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association s (TGCA) National Breed Show TOYS. Stallions (four years and over) in order to enter any affiliated class MUST have their TGCA disc displayed on their bridle and be bitted as per the TGCA rulebook. Existing TGCA members must present their qualification card to the judge in the ring for signature. Non -members will receive a qualification card from the judge and will have 21 days to join TGCA and to register their horse to validate the qualification. Please refer to for further details including membership, horse registration and showing rules (contained within the members handbook). NCPA 254/18 This show is a qualifier for the NCPA Pony of the year show in September First & second prize winners in appropriate classes will qualify. The Supreme and Reserve In Hand & Ridden Champions will qualify for the NCPA GOLDEN SUPREMES held in September TSR Showing Finals This show is a qualifier for the 2018 TSR Showing Finals. Qualify and enter ANY of the Finals Central, East Anglia, North West, North East, South East, South, Wales & South West or Scottish. You do not have to be a TSR member to qualify or enter a final. The Rider/Handler qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of finals. TSR Riders Finals 1st & 2nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring. TSR Rider Finals 1st & 2nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring. TSR In Hand Finals - The two highest placed handlers with a TSR in hand card will qualify in any In hand class. Handlers must have their cards signed in the ring by the judge/steward, cards are available free from the TSR website co.uk NPS Classes This show is affiliated to the NPS entrants do not need to be members of the NPS to compete. The following classes are affiliated to NPS 64 to 73 (Shetland Ponies), Fell Ponies, (IH and Ridden M & M s). NPS Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part-breds are not eligible for Mountain & Moorland Classes. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members, but only ponies owned by adult Qualifying or Life NPS members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition. The highest placed pony, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. NPS Area 25 - Young Riders Championship NPS Area 4 - This show is a qualifier for the NPS Area 4 Northern Breeders In hand Supreme Championship, Sponsored by SUPREME PRODUCTS. Elimination for third refusal or fall. PHASE 2 Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. (In some classes, at the judge s discretion, horses might be asked to do a show following their jumping without leaving the ring. This is often the case with a large number in the class) Each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than 1 ½ minutes. Show to include the following movements: Walk, Trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter (gallop) halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not have received any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current or previous season. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes. Ingliston Elite Showing Championship Series This Show is a qualifier and every horse placed 1st to 3rd in classes ridden hunters, 24 ridden cob and riding horse will qualify to compete in the appropriate class at the Finals held be held within Ingliston Grand Slam, at Ingliston Country Club, Bishopton, Renfrewshire. Saturday 22nd September Qualification will be from placings, no qualification cards will be awarded in the ring, and no qualification can go down the line. All foals must be a minimum of 3 weeks old on the day of the show. All entire males aged 2 years and over must display a stallion disc, 3. There must be no colts or entire males in Young Handlers classes. Children under 14 years old may not show colts (excluding foals) or entire males in In-hand classes. In the interests of safety, hard hats must be worn by all handlers aged 14 years or under in In-hand classes. Exhibitors should not kneel but remain standing while in the ring. Hard hats must be worn by all exhibitors irrespective of age in the ridden classes. 72 HOME INDUSTRIES SCHEDULE In association with Pioneer Foodservice If you would like to enter the Home Industries Section for 2018, here s what you need to do. 1. How do I enter the Home Industries Show? Complete the entry form and submit to the secretary before the closing date - Friday 18th May When do I bring my entries? You will be able to stage your entries in the Home Industries Marquee between 12 noon - 6pm on Friday 15th June If you need any help staging the exhibit please ask one of the stewards. Entering onto the field on Friday will be from Entrance Gate 2 and parking will be available next to the marquee to unload. Exception - Section Five (Walking Sticks) which will be judged on Show Day and must be displayed by 9.30am. 3. When are the exhibits judged? All judging takes place on Friday night - no results will be available until 9am on Show Day except from Section Five (Walking Sticks) which will be judged on Show Day. 4. Exhibitors are limited to one entry per class in all sections (EXCEPT Sections 5 and 6) 2. Entries 40p, no entry will be accepted until the money is paid (EXCEPT Junior section - all entries free) 3.
