As changes have been made to the equine ring layout, ring numbers may be subject to change. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COMPETITOR TO CHECK THE WEBSITE. On show day any amendments will be made over the loudspeaker system. It is the competitors responsibility to ensure they are available for their classes. 3 CUMBERLAND COUNTY SHOW 2016 HORSE SECTION INTRODUCTION AND GUIDELINES FOR COMPETITORS Entry 2016 Wristband passes. Two wristbands will be allocated to the first horse, one for each subsequent horse up to a maximum of four wristbands. Wristbands must be worn on entry to the Showground. Anybody without a wristband will be charged for entry. Parking All Light Horses, working hunter and Show jumping competitors must park as directed by official parking attendants. To aid traffic flow, competitors will be issued with a parking pass which must be displayed in the windscreen of your vehicle upon entry to the Showground. To gain access to the show rings all competitors must use the horse walk ways provided. Start Times Please note that there may be some traffic congestion leading up to and on the show field, therefore please allow plenty of time to arrive and prepare for your class. Under no circumstances will judging be delayed due to the late arrival of competitors, and late arrivals will not be permitted into the show ring once judging has commenced. Competitor Numbers Will be issued in advance of the show. Please ensure you are wearing the correct number for each of your classes as detailed in the catalogue. Insufficient entries The committee reserve the right to amalgamate or split classes if necessary. Royal International Horse Show The Ridden Hunter and Working Hunter sections offer qualifying classes to RIHS A levy of 9 per class is included in the entry fee, which the Cumberland Show pays directly to the RIHS. Olympia Horse Show - The Veteran horse/pony sections offer qualifying classes to The Olympia Horse show A levy of 10 per class is included in the entry fee, which the Cumberland Show pays directly to Senior Showing and Dressage Limited. Supreme Horse - To be held at 2.15pm in the Main Agri Ring, stewards will be available to escort competitors. The Champion from each Light Horse section will take part, provided that their section has finished in time, and a Supreme In-Hand and a Supreme Ridden Champion will be chosen. These will go forward to be judged in the Champion of Champions. Champion of Champions - The Champion Heavy Horse, Supreme In-Hand Light Horse Champion and Supreme Light Horse Ridden Champion will be eligible to compete in the Cumberland Agricultural Society Champion of Champions competition in the Main Agri Ring at 2:45 Grand Parade To be held in the Main Agri Ring at 3.00pm. Champions, Reserve Champions and 1st placed competitors are eligible to take part in the Grand Parade. Exhibitors will be advised on the day where to gather and stewards will be available to escort them to the Main Agri Ring 12

4 The Cumberland Show is currently affiliated to the following societies which affect more than one section and competitors entering this show whether they be members or not of the society agree to abide by the rules of those societies: ALL EQUINE EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE NO EARRINGS OR VISIBLE JEWELLERY WILL BE ALLOWED BRITISH SHOW PONY SOCIETY (BSPS) Entries in these classes are open to all. The following class no s are affiliated to the BSPS 30, 31, (LR & FR) (SP & SHP), (Heritage WHP), (WHP), 64, (Heritage ridden) This show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) and all persons entering, competing, showing or otherwise taking part in BSPS classes, whether or not members of the BSPS are subject to the rules of the BSPS including the disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS. This show is a qualifier for the 2016 BSPS s to be held at Arena UK 24 th to 27 th August The following will qualify 1 st and 2 nd prize winners 30, ; 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd 83 & 84; 1 st to 4 th 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 42, 43, 81, 83. BSPS Classic Security Challenge This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Classic Security Challenge, the highest placed pony in the LR, FR, LR of HT, Open SP, Open SHP, Cradle & Open Nursery stakes, Open WHP, Open Inter SRT, SH & WH, Heritage Open LR, FR, Ridden and WHP classes that has not qualified for the BSPS 2016 HOYS in the appropriate class will qualify. If the highest placed pony has already qualified for the BSPS Challenge the qualification will be awarded to the next eligible pony. BSPS Champion of Champions This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Champion of Champions, the Champion Mini Show Pony, the Champion Mini WHP, Champion Open WHP/WH, Champion Open SHP, Champion Intermediate, will qualify. In Mixed Height classes the first prize winner will qualify. BSPS Black Country Saddles Best Rider The best rider in open classes affiliated to the BSPS will be awarded a qualifying card for the final at the 2016 Summer s BSPS Heritage Industrial Salt Supplies WOW FACTOR (Winner of Winners) Ponies placed 1 st in the BSPS Heritage Open Classes will qualify for the WOW Factor at the BSPS Summer s Show. CHAPS UK This show is affiliated to the Coloured Horse and Pony Society (UK). Affiliation No Both the owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However in order to qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) Show will be held on 1 st 3 rd September The following classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers (Classes inc). (CHAPS registered animals in classes 30 and 31 and in the Veteran section classes and Sport Horse class 29 may also qualify provided they comply with the above rules) For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members Handbook or visit for rulings. ALL STALLIONS, 4 YEARS OLD AND OVER ENTERING THESE CLASSES MUST BE GRADED WITH CHAPS (UK). ALL STALLIONS MUST WEAR STALLION ID DISCS IN THE RING WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Classes are CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification please refer to the CHAPS (UK) Members Handbook or visit for rulings. NCPA 254/16 This show is a qualifier for the NCPA Pony of the year show in September First & second prize winners in appropriate classes will qualify. 13

5 TSR Riders & In Hand Regional Finals This show is a qualifier for the 2016 TSR Scottish Regional Finals to be held on 24 th - 25 th September at the Grand Slam Show, Ingliston EC, Bishopton. You do not have be a TSR member to qualify or enter a final. The rider/handler qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of finals. TSR Riders Finals 1 st & 2 nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring. TSR In hand finals The two highest placed handlers with a TSR in hand card will qualify in any In hand class. Handlers must have their cards signed in the ring by the judge/steward, cards are available free from the TSR website NPS Classes This show is affiliated to the NPS entrants do not need to be members of the NPS to compete. The following classes are affiliated to NPS (Fell Ponies), 66 to 75 (Shetland Ponies), (IH and Ridden M & M s), (Show pony breeding) NPS Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breeds are not eligible for Mountain & Moorland Classes. To compete in Show Pony and Show Hunter Pony classes ponies must be registered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB, the GSB, the AHSB, the AASB or in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part-breeds are not eligible unless entered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Show at Malvern from 2 nd - 4 th August The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Show. From 2016 all qualifying ponies will receive a qualification card. The Owner s Membership cards MUST be produced in the ring when requested or the qualification will be forfeit. RACEHORSE TO RIDING HORSE REQUIREMENTS The ROR Tattersalls Scottish Thoroughbred Show Series 2016 The ROR Tattersalls Scottish Show Series Qualifier Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, any height. Riders must be 15 years or over. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, Pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. The first three go forward to the championship at the Royal Highland Show All entries must be registered with the ROR and have raced in the GB. There will be a prize for the highest placed veteran 15 years or over. The class will be run under the rules of the ROR. Horses to be ridden by the judge. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses rules and regulations from the time in force. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Racing injuries and blemishes will NOT be ignored in this series. THE ROR/TBA (THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS ASSOCIATION) RETRAINED RACEHORSE CHALLENGE The Retrained Racehorse Challenge Mare or gelding 4yrs old or over and of any height. Riders must be 15 years old or over on the 1 st January. Horses to be ridden in any suitable bridle and should be plaited. The first 3 qualify for the final at Royal Windsor Show All entries must be registered with ROR and HAVE raced in GB. There will be a prize for the highest placed veteran 15 years or over. Horses will NOT be ridden by the judge. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series 14

6 The class to be judged 50% jumping 20% Style while jumping and performance. 30% awarded for individual show, manners and suitability to be retrained. PHASE 1 Jumping to be judged: 8 rustic jumps (2 6 to 3 foot with a maximum spread of 85 cm). The following points to be deducted at the end of each jumping round: 10 points to be deducted for a knock down. 15 points to be deducted for a refusal. 20 points for second refusal. Elimination for third refusal or fall. PHASE 2 Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. (In some classes, at the judge s discretion, horses might be asked to do a show following their jumping without leaving the ring. This is often the case with a large number in the class) Each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than 1 ½ minutes. Show to include the following movements: Walk, Trot, canter showing change of leg, extended canter (gallop) halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Total marks out of 30 for Show, manners and suitability to be retrained. Fences for the final at the Royal Windsor can be up to a maximum of 3 6 For further details visit the ROR website TARRA Amateur definition: An individual who does not receive any remuneration from the showing, riding or production of show horses. Individuals employed in other equestrian disciplines shall be classified as amateurs for the sake of the TARRA show series. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and may result in disqualification from future classes. OLYMPIA ANTHONY D EVANS SSADL DIRECT ROUTE QUALIFIER Competitors competing in this qualifier need not hold a SSAD Ltd Rider/Handler membership or Equine Registration card. However in the above championship the highest placed SSADL rider/handler member and their SSADL registered pony/horse will claim the Olympia ticket. No substitutions will be accepted. In order for a competitor to be eligible to compete at the Olympia Senior Showing Grand Final at Olympia ALL ponies/horses MUST meet the current FEI Vaccination Regulations. SSAD Ltd age badges must be displayed on the pony/horse bridle. NO SPURS NO GALLOPING NO WEARING OF FACE/BODY JEWELLERY ARE PERMITTED. NO FOALS ARE PERMITTED IN SSADL CLASSES. IN HAND CLASSES: MINIMUM AGE OF HANDLER 9 YEARS OLD STALLIONS: EITHER IN HAND OR RIDDEN COMPETTITORS MUST BE OVER THE AGE OF 16 YEARS. COMPETITORS CANNOT ENTER THE RING ONCE THE COMMAND OF TROT HAS BEEN GIVEN. THE SAME RIDER/HANDLER/PONY/HORSE COMBINATION MUST STAY THE SAME FROM DIRECT ROUTE QUALIFIER AND GRAND FINAL. ALL COMPETITORS SHOULD AQUAINT THEMSELVES WITH THE SSADL RULES BEFORE ENTERING. For more information go to 15

THE HAROLD RUSSELL SILVER CHALLENGE CUP presented by the Exors of the late Mr H N Russell is awarded to the best Clydesdale yearling or 2 year old bred by the exhibitor. THE CUMBERLAND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY CUP presented by Cumberland Agricultural Society is awarded to the best Clydesdale foal. THE J S HARRINGTON PERPETUAL TROPHY presented in memory of the late Jack Harrington is awarded to the best Clydesdale animal bred by the exhibitor. THE J & D CURR MEMORIAL CUP presented Curr Family is awarded to the best Clydesdale animal of opposite sex to the Champion. BEST RIDDEN ROSETTE presented The Clydesdale Horse Society is awarded to the best ridden Clydesdale. 21

All riders to wear protective head gear to current BSI standards The organisers of this show have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone in attendance must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring, and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all the officials and stewards. HUNTER BREEDING (IN-HAND) Judging commences at 8am - (see timetable) Entry Fee: inc. To be eligible for Hunter Brood Mare classes mares must have foal at foot or a relevant certificate of pregnancy which may be inspected at the show. Mares which have not yet foaled or that have lost their foals are eligible to enter with a relevant certificate of pregnancy that may be inspected at the show 14 COLT OR FILLY FOAL Entry Fee: Free Progeny of mare in previous class, to be at least 3 weeks old on the day of the show. Foals will not be awarded prize money, only rosettes to 6th place. 15 YEARLING COLT, GELDING OR FILLY 16 TWO YEAR OLD GELDING OR FILLY 17 THREE YEAR OLD GELDING OR FILLY Michaela Wood In-Hand Hunter Final 2016 The winner of each in-hand hunter class will qualify for the Michaela Wood In-hand Hunter Final to be held at the Alexanders Horse Boxes Supreme Hunter Show at the Scope Festival Staffordshire, August 20th to 21st Only the winner of a qualifying class will qualify (i.e. the qualification will NOT be passed down the line). In qualifying classes that have both colt/gelding and filly entries, then the highest placed exhibit of each sex will qualify. Shows that have more than one mare class (i.e. Small, LWT & HWT) may qualify a mare from each class for the final, the same in the foal classes. The final to be judged as one would normally judge an In Hand class, however by 3 judges (possibly 2 Panel Judges and 1 Guest Judge) who will each be allocated a steward and will judge independently (not conferring with other Judges) and will give a mark (out of 20) for each exhibit. This mark will be held up after each exhibit has been assessed. In the event of a tie, the judges will confer. 250 to the winner of each final, 100 for 2nd and 50 for 3rd. 100 to the champion male, 100 to champion female. These classes are kindly sponsored by the Wood Family. The NW branch of the SHB(GB) are pleased to offer a 50 Premium & Rosette to the 1st or 2nd place Broodmare with own foal at foot which has not already won a SHBGB (in the NW) Premium during the 2016 season This show is a points show for the SHB(GB) in the North West In Hand Points Competition 22

12 Points will be awarded 1st to 4th place in each class. Horses must be registered with the SHB and the owner must be a current SHB member at the time of the show to qualify for entry into the Points Competition. An award will be made to the horse attaining the highest number of points overall. The Cumberland Agricultural Society Hunter Breeding will be judged at the end of this section. A Champion and Reserve Champion will be judged from the 1st & 2nd placed competitors from each class. Judging will commence immediately following the end of the final class. The Section Champion is eligible to compete in the Supreme Horse which will be judged at 2.15 pm. In the main Agri. Showing Ring, stewards will be available to escort competitors. THE ELAINE ARMSTRONG PERPETUAL MEMORIAL TROPHY presented by E Armstrong is awarded to the Champion Yearling RIDDEN HUNTER Judging will follow the Hunter Breeding classes - (see timetable) All hunter classes will be judged under the current SHB(GB) rules. Classes 18 to 21 and class 25 are qualifying events for the 2017 RIHS and only horses registered on the Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry forms and owners and riders must be members of the Society. Day ticket = 30 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 1 show in the year - it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that year. The two highest places horses in each class will qualify to enter at the RIHS. In the Working Hunter Class the three highest placed horse will qualify - for further information see the front of the schedule Entry fees for classes 18 to 21 are 21 ( 12 entry fee and 9 RIHS Levy), and for classes 22 to 24 are 12. Children under 14 years old may not show colts (excluding foals) or entire males in In-hand classes. In the interests of safety, hard hats must be worn by all handlers aged 14 years or under in In-hand classes. Exhibitors should not kneel but remain standing while in the ring. In ridden classes if a rider falls off at any time whilst in the ring, both pony and rider must leave the ring with the rider dismounted and take no further part. A Cumberland Agricultural Society Rosette will be presented to the Overall Champion and Reserve Champion Shetland Pony. The champion is eligible to go forward to the Supreme Horse which will be judged in the Main Agri. Ring at 2.15pm, stewards will be available to escort competitors. The Standard Shetland and the Miniature Shetland will be judge following the conclusion of the Miniature classes. Classes 66,68-71, are qualifiers for the NPS/Leyhills M&M In Hand. The Champion Shetland pony may go forward to the NPS/Kilmannan Stud Mountain and Moorland In Hand Silver Medal to be judged in the Native Pony ring following the Native Pony In hand classes. THE HARTSIDE TROPHY presented by the Lowthian Family is awarded to the Champion Standard Shetland. THE CHALLENGE TROPHY presented by Mrs E Kirkpatrick is awarded to the Champion Miniature Shetland. THE CUMBERLAND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY CUP presented by The Cumberland Agricultural Society is awarded to the best Stallion in the Shetland Ponies Section. THE ALLENGROVE PERPETUAL TROPHY presented by the Nicholson Family is awarded to the Champion Standard Shetland Brood Mare.
