Historical operation of this ranch has been to graze yearling livestock from mid-april through October. Grama and buffalo grass production has been superb this season. Primary hunting on the ranch consists of pronghorn antelope and mule deer. The ranch received 2 landowner authorizations for buck pronghorn antelope from Game and Fish in Mule Deer hunting is available on the south portion of the ranch. New swing gates are found on the north portion of the ranch. County roads and two track roads provide easy access to all pastures on the ranch. 4 The primary water sources consist of 4 solar powered wells with submersible pumps, 2 windmills, and 3 springs. Underground pipelines service drinkers at well locations and in strategic locations within the ranch. There is one main storage tank located on the state trust land. This storage tank also provides water to the headquarters. Seasonal earth stock ponds and lakes are located throughout the ranch in all pastures. The Deer Canyon Ranch is improved with an easily accessed modest camp type headquarters area consisting of an older home, barn, equipment sheds, storage shed, and metal storage containers. As mentioned above, big game on the Deer Canyon Ranch consists of mule deer, pronghorn antelope, and an occasional elk.
