4 Vice Presidents Report Hello, everyone! Time sure does fly by! Our next event is coming up before our next club meeting! SUNDAY, July 10, 2016 Five Car Shows These are actually Fun Center s events, which they offered to us to put on. AND, these are actually going to be a breeze compared to our Serpentini events. They are being held at Beef O Brady s in Brimfield. (A flyer & map are enclosed in this newsletter). We don t have to move cars or anything else. We aren t doing baskets, nor will we have to have a food vendor.however, we do need YOUR help! We will need people to sell raffle tickets for the 50/50 drawing, people to help park cars in the lot, and WOMEN to vote for our favorite cars! It won t take a lot of time, so please join us there at 10:00am! Call me, Tom Geul or Peg Quine to let us know you ll be there! Looking ahead, we will be hosting speed events for Fun Center at the end of August, the same weekend that Corvette Cleveland will be holding events. There is lots to be done, and again, we are definitely going to need help. So PLEASE mark your calendars for Saturday, August 27. The events are going to be held at Richmond Town Square in Richmond Heights, OH. You do not need to have worked a speed event before. There will be plenty of people there to show you what to do. It s lots of fun, and you ll get an opportunity to meet lots of people from our region, and probably from outside our region also. A flyer is enclosed in this newsletter about this also. We will have sign-up sheets at the meeting for the August 27 events. To those of you who are wondering why we are hosting Fun Center events, here s a National Council of Corvette Clubs fact. Each Club throughout the country can only host 10 events per year. If they decide NOT to host their events they can give the events to the region to put them on, give them to another club, or do nothing with them. Because of our close relationship with Fun Center, this is the second year they have given us their events, which has resulted in our accumulating extra dollars for our treasury. So, enough for the facts! Mark your calendars for the upcoming events and give me, Tom or Peg a call to let us know you ll be able to help out! Gail Moore

6 How Clubs Choose Their Events NCCC (National Council of Corvette Clubs) allows each member Club to hold 10 sanctioned events each year. A sanctioned event is an event that carries a standardized amount of points for the Clubs and individuals entered in each event. Example: a worker gets 2 points for each event that they work but do not enter. The Club also gets 2 points for each worker. An entrant and their Club get 3 points for every Car Show that they enter. For Rallyes, the points are 10 for 1 st place down to 3 points for the Club and Entrant. Concours Events are scored with the same points structure. Speed events, Drags, Funkhanas and Economy Runs are scored from 11 points down to 2 points. (If you wish to see the complete points structure go to the NCCC Web site and check the Competition Section, Rulebook, Chapter 8. (Championship Points). By working all year on your points, at the end of the year each individual and Club accumulates both Regional and National points to determine your placement in both Regional Awards and National Awards. Tiretown has been the #1 Club in the Region for many years in the past and was the #1 Club in the Nation for 10 times. (1967, 1969, 1993, , 1996, 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2006), some years acquiring more than 35,000 points by traveling around the country. In the 90 s and early 2000 s it was not unusual to leave Akron on Friday afternoon and travel to the Carolina s for a series of events on Sat. and Sun. and return on Monday to go to work, or take a week to travel to Florida for two weekends of events in the Fall. As I stated earlier, to be fair, each Club is allowed to hold 10 sanctioned events per year. Those events are chosen at the end of the previous year. With East Ohio having 14 Clubs, the order of choosing events is by how a Club finished the previous year in the Region. Each Club may choose a day (or weekend) for their events and no other Club in the Region can have events at that time (a weekend requires 6 events). The Clubs choosing a day or weekend goes through three or four rounds until all Clubs have their desired events. By choosing these events so far in advance, we have no idea what the weather will be on our chosen day. Can we Change Dates? Yes, up till 45 days prior to our event, if there is nothing scheduled on the calendar for any other Clubs events. At the 45 day date (prior to the event) we can only cancel our event and we lose our chance to hold that event. Should we chose to make that event a non-sanctioned event then we would not get other Clubs to attend our event as they are working on maximizing their points for the year. This system of awarding points and having a schedule of events with standard rules is one of the reasons that Tiretown needs to belong to NCCC, if we were to attempt to be a non NCCC Club there would be no reason for other Corvette Clubs to attend our events. Also without NCCC we would need to have our own insurance, which would be very expensive.
