If you want breakfast, get there before, but be ready to leave at 8:30. When the time states 8:30, about 3/4 of the participants show up at 8:00. Now, if we state the start time is 8:00, will the same participants show up at 7:30? THAT is the big question and is up to debate. Your input is important here Page!2

3 Chapter G Director s News Rodney DeJonge/Dar Koza MI-Chapter G RODAR'S CORNER What a perfect day we had for our first day of July ride to Grand Ledge for a picnic lunch. The humidity came down. There was a beautiful breeze and it was just partly cloudy. Didn't run into too much traffic either with it being a long holiday weekend. Our chapter was invited to a picnic with ChV, F, Y, and J2 at William McCarthy Park, north of Greenville. We had a good size group of people that came. It turned out to be another beautiful day for a bike ride. Too bad for us that the rear end on Rodney's bike happened to go out the day before. But, we were still able to lead the group in our vehicle to Anderson Girls & Orchard for another Road Safari checkpoint with Char and Phil tailgunning in their truck. What a great little petting zoo and it's FREE! This is another plug for D3 Customs. Rodney loaded his bike in his trailer and brought it over to them first thing on Monday. They had it done the same day. They do great work and are reasonably priced. They have an ad in our newsletter, if you ever need any work done on your bike. It's no fun being without a bike. Sunday turned out to be another gorgeous day for a ride and with us not being able to go we ended up cleaning all the windows in the house. YUK! For those of you looking for parts for their 1500 or 1800 Honda, Bob T. still has quite a few items for 50% off or more. All brand new. Can be used for Christmas gifts for that special guy or gal or great door prizes.what a good time we had at ChN's Picnic in the Park in Fruitport this month. We had 19 people there from ChG. Way to represent us. All three of the 50/50 drawings were won by someone in our group and almost everyone of us won on the silent auction items. We are going to try to come up with a good way to make money for a charity of ChG's choice with the piggy bank that Rodney was the highest bidder on. A few of us went on another Road Safari on the 22nd of July to the Cycle Moore Campground in Interlochen. On the way up it was pretty overcast. We hit a little bit of light drizzle before we got to Baldwin. We stopped and put our rain gear on and then 5 or 10 minutes later it stopped. We had to really be on the lookout for turkeys too. They were running wild on the way there and back. The campground looked like a cozy little place if you like camping. The store was pretty cool. It had some vintage motorcycles and a lot of other old things. We rode down the street to Dilbert's for lunch. You could get a 1/2# or 1/3 # hamburger, with chips or coleslaw, for under $4. It was really good. Looking forward to the Region D/Michigan District rally in August. Hope a lot of you are planning to be there. Because of the GWRRA restructuring, this will be the first and last one that's combined like this. So go and have a great time. Rodney/Dar Page!3

4 Rider Education BOB UNGREY MI-G Rider Ed MI-Chapter G New News about Rider Ed As I sit here reflecting on my August article, it was pretty much written for me. I look back on my job as your Rider Educator with pride and hopefully have provided you with tips, safety issues and answers, Levels program, equipment and a host of other useful information for our Chapter G Riders and Co-Riders. If you haven't heard yet, "New" changes will be coming on January 1, We'll no longer have a Chapter Rider Educator. But don't look too sad as there will be a new Officer position called the Chapter Ride Coordinator. This person will focus and coordinate our rides. National wants this position under Rider Education so this person has to believe and participate in the Rider Education program and be at least a level 2, which is why they are an Officer of Rider Education. My role will not be the same as the previous role of the Chapter Educator as they want me to focus my energy on planning all variety of rides that suit our Chapter Participants. As we get ready for that ride I will conduct a very informative Rider Meeting and encourage safety, i.e. T-Clocs, group riding techniques; safety clothes and more. These have been covered in detail during my tenure as your Rider Educator, so to me nothing really new on the radar. The Coordinator shall accept the Riders that show and they need to be in compliance with State Law. I'll encourage, communicate and lead the way sharing GWRRA's benefits of safety as developed through the Rider Education Program. I won't have to be focused on paperwork but on the opportunities to ride and share. If I sign Members into the program, that is a bonus, but sharing my passion for the ride is my piece of the fun equation. From what I've read, I like that GWRRA National is going back to their founding message: "Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge". I'm sure our Chapter Directors will cover in more detail the new GWRRA structure and changes that will be taking place January Respectfully Submitted, Bob Ungrey Rider Educator/Chapter G Page!4

5 Opinion Page While visiting Chapter N's Picnic in the Park, I was thinking about the many folks who we have met since joining GWRRA. Our home chapter, G, will always be "home". There have been many fun and exciting times with this wonderful group. In recent years we have expanded our regular contacts to include rides with Chapter R2. The members have been welcoming and fun. The Tuesday night dinner rides leave from a location close to our home which has made for many enjoyable occasions. They, too, are an awesome group. Our friends from Chapter N, Terri and Farmer, Sandy and the rest are friendly and open. They have been camping and road trip buddies for many years. At the District and Region events we love to visit with folks we've know for years. Even though we only see some members a couple times each year, hugs and conversation make it feel like we see everyone every week. I think what I'm really saying is this truly is a family. We have all the characters of most biological clans: The good, the bad and the people who make us scratch our heads and smile. We are very glad we joined GWRRA a lifetime ago. Chocolate-Zucchini Cake Prep Time 20min. Total Time 1hr. 30min. Servings 16 servings FOR SALE or Free Items 1 pkg. (2-layer size) devil's food cake mix 1 pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Flavor Instant Pudding 3 cups shredded zucchini 1 container (16 oz.) ready-to-spread chocolate frosting 1 cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping Make It Heat oven to 350ºF. Prepare cake batter as directed on package. Add dry pudding mix; beat 2 min. Add zucchini; beat just until blended. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch round pans. Bake 28 to 30 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool cakes in pans 10 min.; invert onto wire racks. Gently remove pans; cool cakes completely. Spoon frosting into medium bowl. Add COOL WHIP; whisk until blended. Stack cake layers on plate, filling and frosting with COOL WHIP mixture. Page!7

8 MI-Chapter G Bob Toedebusch has a garage filled with GL 1800 & a lot of GL 1500 chrome at unheard of prices. He helped his mother close her trike conversion shop in Florida and took the chrome north to sell. There are a lot of Show Chrome, Big Parts, Baker Wings and numerous miscellaneous pieces to make your bike look much better that it now is. The pictures only show half of what he has to sell. But, you ll have to hurry, now that the word gets out. All are new shrink wrapped packaging, never opened, (except the 4 wheels)! Don t forget, most pieces are at 40-60% off list price. All participants must wear full riding gear: DOT helmet, eye protection, full finger gloves, long sleeves, long pants and over-the-ankle boots or shoes. ARC, TRC, and SRC Courses include Classroom and Range instruction. Grayling and Evart courses will be range only. These classes are for re-certification only. All Riders must bring to class: valid operator license with motorcycle endorsement; current vehicle registration; and current proof of insurance. Confirmation s will be sent out about two (2) weeks before the requested course, and will indicate your Class Times and Locations.
