That mark is good for second nationally and first in Hockey East. UConn has been particularly strong on the kill in its first four WHEA games, going 15-for-15 by negating five power plays each from Vermont and Maine, three from Providence and two from BU. In total, UConn has had 23 successful PKs in a row, with the last power play goal allowed coming on Oct. 25 vs. RPI. UConn s power play has also picked up in recent games, with the Huskies going 3-for-9 in its last two contests. UConn picked up two PPGs vs. Maine and another against Providence. Connecticut has jumped to 8-for-46 on the year with a man advantage, good for third in Hockey East and 15th nationally at 17.4 percent. The Huskies are the least penalized team in the WHEA, with just 9.5 PIM per contest. Career Firsts Fleming and Harris both scored their first career goals in the win over Providence, with Fleming s proving to be the game-winner. The Holy Cross transfer also secured her first career multi-point outing, posting a line in the win. Two more Huskies notched career firsts in the BU game on Nov. 6. Susan Cavanagh s second period goal was the first of her career. Viivi Vaattovaara also picked up an assist in the contest, her first coming in just her third game dressed this season. Erin Burns also picked up her first goal as a Husky this season, scoring in the third period at Maine on Nov. 3. Burns had scored three goals in her previous stops playing at Niagara and Syracuse, but the Husky captain went 39 games in Blue and White before her first UConn tally. Sophomore blueline stalwart Cassandra Opela, who has suited up in all 46 games since arriving in Storrs, garnered her first carer point with an assist at Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 5. Campero in the Clutch Junior forward Kayla Campero is tied for the team-high with four goals this year, and three have come in crucial situations for the Huskies. In UConn s first win against Colgate on Oct. 11, Campero redirected a Snodgrass shot with 10.6 seconds remaining in overtime to give Connecticut a dramatic win. She scored again in OT against RPI on Oct. 25, slamming home a MacDonnell feed just moments after being released from a roughing penalty. In UConn s contest at Maine on Nov. 3, Campero scored an extra attacker goal with 45 seconds remaining in regulation to bring UConn all the way back from a 4-1 deficit and force a 4-4 tie.
