11 GRIZZLIES HEAD COACH, TONY BARONE Tony Barone Sr. took over as e Grizzlies interim head coach on December 28, 2006, his first head coaching stint in e NBA. He s also in his seven season wi e Grizzlies as e team s Director of Player Personnel. Among his many accolades, Barone can be credited wi scouting e talents of Spain s Pau Gasol, e NBA Rookie of e Year. He also spent two seasons as an assistant coach under former head coach Hubie Brown. Barone joined e Grizzlies after two years as a Big 12 color commentator wi ESPN Regional. He served as e head coach at Texas A&M from 1991 rough 1998, wi his 1994 team playing in e NIT Tournament. While at Texas A&M, Barone was selected Souwestern Conference Coach of e Year.
