2 Girls Lacrosse Apple Valley wins first championship The Apple Valley girls won their first title after defeating the three-time defending champions from Eden Prairie The championship game started with Apple Valley taking an early 2-0 lead. Eden Prairie then found its way to net for three consecutive goals. It was then up to Apple Valley senior Molly Moynihan to turn the game around and get the Apple Valley Eagles back on top. After being down 6-3 with just under 6 minutes remaining in the half, the Eden Prairie Eagles were able to net three goals, with two from coming from sophomore Maggie Brown, to tie the game at 6-6. After the break, the Apple Valley Eagles netted their first goal of the second half in just 33 seconds on a strike from senior Emma Vogelgesang. Another goal from Moynihan pushed Apple Valley s lead to 8-6. Eden Prairie s Brown countered with another goal before Apple Valley senior Reagan Roelofs tallied her third of the game. Eden Prairie capped another streak when Brown scored her fourth goal of the game giving the Eagles the lead at 10-9 with 7 minutes to play. Scoring dissipated after that with both teams playing strong defense. It was a full three minutes of play before Apple Valley s Vogelgesang tied the game at The game-winning goal came with just 72 seconds remaining in regulation from senior Sophia Leong.
