Boston University (3-0, 0-0 Patriot League) at #17/18 (1-2, 0-0 Patriot League) Watch: Patriot League Network - Joe Miller (PxP) BUSINESS TRIP The Boston University men s lacrosse team will begin Patriot League play on Saturday when the Terriers travel to Annapolis, Maryland, to face No. 17/18 at 12 p.m. YEAR FOUR BU enters its fourth year as a varsity program in 2017 and will look to continue its trend of improving its overall record. After a 2-12 start in the first year (2014), the Terriers have improved to 6-8 and 8-7 in each of the last two seasons. Seventeen seniors remain from the first-ever team as part of a 50-man active roster. TWO STRAIGHT YEARS OF 3-0 BU is 3-0 for the second time in as many seasons after a 12-5 win at on Feb. 18. The Terriers also began last season at 3-0 but fell in the fourth game. Over the past three seasons, the Terriers are 10-3 in February. ANOTHER TOUGH START TO THE PL SLATE BU and are opening their respective Patriot League schedules against one another for the second straight season. Like last year, is ranked, this time at No. 17 and 18; the Mids were 16th last season. MORE ON THE MIDS is 1-2 this season, earning its first victory of the year last Saturday, 11-5, over Delaware. The two losses have been to a pair of top-10 teams, however, as the Mids lost to then-no. 8 Johns Hopkins (15-8) on the road before falling at home to then-no. 2 Maryland, Ryan Wade leads in assists (8) and points (13) and is one of three Mids along with Drew Smiley and Greyson Torain to have scored a teambest five goals. Matt Rees has collected 16 ground balls and also caused 10 turnovers while Brady Dove has won 65.6 percent of the faceoffs he has taken. Reigning PL Goalkeeper of the Week Ryan Kern has played every minute for and owns an goals-against average along with a.500 save percentage. LOOKING BACK AT LAST YEAR James scored one of his three goals in double overtime to give the Terriers a thrilling 10-9 victory over on Feb. 28, Christian Carson-Banister made 15 saves, including five in overtime. Sam Talkow went 8-of-15 at the faceoff X and tied the game with 47 seconds left in regulation. Greg gathered a career-high eight ground balls while Jack joined as Terriers with three-goal afternoons. BU took a 3-0 lead after the first quarter, and with a 5-3 halftime lead, the Terriers scored the first four goals of the third quarter and seven of the final nine secondhalf goals to earn the convincing win. Senior Cal scored a career-high five goals while freshman John MacLean tallied two goals and two assists for a career-best four points. Senior goalkeeper Christian Carson-Banister made 12 saves. CALISTO, MACLEAN HONORED BY LEAGUE Two Terriers received weekly recognition from the Patriot League for their performances at. Senior Dominick was named Defensive Player of the Week and freshman John MacLean was lauded as the league s Rookie of the Week. held s Dylan Jinks, the reigning America East Rookie of the Year and the Hawks leading scorer from a year ago, to zero points while also causing three turnovers and collecting a ground ball. MacLean recorded career highs in goals (2), assists (2) and points on Saturday, with three of his four points coming in the first half to help BU get out to a 5-3 lead. CARSON-BANISTER HARD TO BEAT Senior goalkeeper Christian Carson-Banister ranks fourth in the NCAA and first in the Patriot League with a save percentage of.700 and his goals-against average of 6.38 is first in the PL and eighth in the NCAA. He also leads the PL in saves per game with 14.00, good for sixth in the NCAA. HEAD TO HEAD STUCKY SUPERB AGAIN Facing off against last year s NCAA leader in faceoff percentage, Dylan Protesto, junior Joe Stucky went 8-of-10 for five ground balls in the first half of the Terriers 12-5 win at on Saturday. Stucky finished the game 12-of-21 with seven ground balls. He has won 60 percent of his draws this season, good for fourth in the conference. WILSON EXTENDS STREAK Junior Jack extended his point streak to 29 games with a goal at on Feb. 18. He has scored 47 goals and added 26 assists for 73 points during the 28-game streak, which began at on Feb. 25, He has been held without a point just once in his 32-game collegiate career. CAREER DAY FOR CAL Senior Cal scored a career-high five goals on Feb. 18 at. His previous career high was four goals, achieved most recently in a 9-8 win at last season. has been terrific this season in a move from midfield to attack, having totaled 12 points on seven goals and five assists. Eleven of his 12 points (5g, 6a) have come in the last two games. NO POINT IN TRAILING BU has not trailed in any of its last two games after never leading at in the opening contest of the season.
