Boston University (6-7, 3-5 Patriot League) at #4/5 Duke (11-5, 1-3 ACC) Watch: ESPN3 - Ryan Craig (PxP), Art Chase (color) GAME FOURTEEN The Terriers will close out the 2015 season on Sunday at No. 4/5 Duke Opening faceoff is set for 2 p.m., on ESPN3. CHANCE TO BREAK EVEN BU can salvage a.500 season with a victory over Duke on Sunday. The Terriers, who went 2-12 last year, can improve their win total by five if they move to 7-7. The worst BU can finish is 6-8, with the six wins tripling last season s total. HEARTBREAKER AT NICKERSON The Terriers had a chance to clinch their first-ever postseason berth on April 17, but they fell just short in a loss to Holy cross. Sophomore Cal Dearth tallied six assists and added a goal for a seven-point evening. Sophomore Christian Carson-Banister made 11 saves for the Terriers. BU sophomore Sam Talkow went 15-of-24 at the faceoff X and picked up nine ground balls. Freshmen Jack Wilson and Ryan Hilburn each tallied twice, as did sophomore Adam Schaal. Sophomore Greg Wozniak collected six ground balls and caused two turnovers. Classmate Cam Pincus also forced two turnovers. just six seconds into the game, but the Terriers ultimately fell to then-no. 3 and eventual national champion Duke, 16-11, on May 4 at Nickerson. Talkow finished with a hat trick and 16 wins at the faceoff X, both of which were career highs. Talkow has since broken his personal faceoff record. Christian Carson-Banister made 25 saves, which was the most in any NCAA game in Adam Schaal had four assists while Ryan Johnston and Clay Phillips each scored twice. SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS Duke mounted a late comeback but ultimately dropped a decision to Syracuse in the ACC title game last Sunday. Freshman Justin Guterding is the ACC Rookie of the Year - he is second among all NCAA freshmen in points per game (3.38) and goals per game (2.88). Guterding leads the Blue Devils with 46 goals while junior midfielder Myles Jones is first on the team in assists (34) and points (73). Sophomore Kyle Rowe went 19-of-30 at the faceoff X against Syracuse on Sunday and has won 54.1 percent of his draws this season. Sophomore Danny Fowler has started the last seven games for Duke and owns a.484 save percentage and an goals-against average. Midfielder Cal Dearth was a first-team selection while faceoff specialist Sam Talkow was tabbed for the second team. Dearth leads the Terriers with 41 points on 18 goals and a team-best 23 assists. He has posted 10 multi-point efforts and he also collected 23 ground balls and caused six turnovers in 13 games. Talkow ranks third in the country and first in the Patriot League in faceoff percentage at.662. He is also 10th in the nation and first in the conference with an average of 7.31 ground balls per game. HATS OFF TO HILBURN Freshman Ryan Hilburn continued his impressive rookie campaign with another multi-point game against Holy Cross Hilburn has collected at least one point in all 13 games this year and he has tallied at least two points in 12 of those 13 starts. The West Chester, Pennsylvania, native is sixth in the nation and first in the Patriot League among freshmen at 2.92 points per game (14g, 21a). His 38 points is second on the Terriers. Hilburn is one of three Terrier rookies, along with Jack Wilson (24) and Hayden Ruiz (12), with over 10 goals this season. SCHAAL SHOOTING AT HIGH PERCENTAGE Sophomore Adam Schaal is second in the country and first in the Patriot League with a shooting percentage of.575. Schaal has scored 23 goals on just 40 shots this season. HEAD TO HEAD The second-year standout has scored a goal in each of his last nine games and is tied for third on the team with 33 points. HILBURN NOT THE ONLY FAB FRESHMAN Freshman Jack Wilson enters Sunday having tallied a point in 10 straight games and 12 of his 13 starts. Wilson ranks seventh in the country among rookies with an average of 1.85 goals per game, having scored 24 in total and at least one goal in all but two tilts. He also has 35 points and 11 assists. HECK OF A TURNAROUND The Terriers offense made massive strides in their second varsity season. After averaging just 7.21 goals per game in 2014, the Terriers rank 23rd in offense with an average of 11 goals per game. BU ranks second in the Patriot League and 18th in the NCAA with an average of 6.77 assists per game after averaging just 4.57 helpers a year ago. In the ground ball game, the Terriers rank second in the PL and 15th in the nation with per game; they averaged in CARSON-BANISTER ON HIS GAME Christian Carson-Banister returned to the lineup on April 8 after missing the previous two games due to injury. The sophomore has made 39 saves over his last three starts and allowed an average of just under 10 goals. He ranks first in the Patriot League and 13th in the NCAA in save percentage (.562). He is also third in the PL in goals-against average (8.53) and he leads the conference with an average of saves per game.
