A quorum, of approximately 150 members, was present. WELCOME Bill Vankeeken welcomed all to the meeting. AWARDS The following awards were presented: Presidents Award of Merit was given to Steve Lusk, Rick Bugnet, Dave Chamberlain, Arlene Cameron, Bev Goddard, Diane Sernoski and Gail McGuire H.L. Coach's of the Year - presented by Judy Ramm A - Sandy Lang B - Dave McCarthy C - Dan Garvey Jennifer Cain presented the Coach of the Year Award for Raider AA - Peter Ford A - Jim York B - Bennett Bill Bill thanked the retiring directors: Colleen Gorman, Malcolm Rose and Tom Pulcine MINUTES George Sorrenti moved and Susan Oliver seconded the approval of the minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting of May 15, PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS Bill Vankeeken expressed his growing respect for the time and efforts taken by his directors and convenors as well as the office administrator. Bill also wished Janet and Craig Shouldice a happy 26 th Anniversary and thanked them both for all of their extra work with the new registration system. The new system will be beneficial financially and eliminate the need for team lists from managers. CORRESPONSENCE NIL Referee-in-Chief-Nil

2 Risk and Safety Malcolm Rose is retiring after four years as the risk and safety director. Malcolm has helped run speak out clinics and attended all of the meetings involving abuse and harassment at the ODHA. VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT Howard Shapero thanked the entire volunteer with a special thanks to Diane Sernoski, Bev Goddard, Gall McGuire and Arelene Cameron for all of their help with volunteer appreciation night. TECHNICAL - A report by Rob Stuart NMHA Technical Year-end Report Clinics This year as usual we organized ODHA Coach, Intermediate Coach, Trainer and NMHA Manager's clinics: We ran 3 trainer's clinics, 2 Coach and 1 Intermediate Coach Training Sessions and one NMHA Manager's Session, with support from the ODHA who provides the trainers. Hart Wolf who provides the ice, the Ottawa (Nepean) Parks & Recreation who provide the facilities and Kathy Angelo who delivers the NMHA Manager's clinic. Altogether we had more than 280 participants in all 7 sessions, of which approximately 160 were from the NMHA and were not charged any fee - an amount equal to almost $10,000. Awards This year we had 155 teams in Nepean: 26 Initiation 107 House League 22 Competitive of these, 137 teams ordered approximately 2260 NMHA Participation plaques and 135 coaches and assistant coach's plaques. Each player's plaque was customized with the player's name, number, team name and division. We handled more than V«ton of plaques. We also handed out 600 House League Finalist and Champions Medals and 280 House League - Champion Tags as well as awards for Coach of the Year and Referee and TimeKeeper awards. Altogether this represents approximately, $9,000 in the overall NMHA budget. Once again we received great support from SGA Signs & Trophies who prepared all these awards beginning around the end of January with the last team's plaques scheduled to be delivered tomorrow night. I want to thank all those team officials who provided me with the correct name of their team including designated team letter, the name of their division, the coach and player names and numbers. 95% of all requests were done via and without it what at times seemed like a bad dream might have become a nightmare. Communications - Nil Initiation Nicole Kelly took over the role as initiation director at the request of the president, Bill Vankeeken. There were 26 teams in the initiation program this season with player's from 5-7 years of age. The five-year-olds played once a week and the six and seven-year-olds played twice a week. Nicole thanked Steve Wolf for all of his help and thanked all of the parent reps. She also thanked Tim Hortons for their support with the initiation program. GENERAL BUSINESS The new logo and name for all of the NMHA teams will the "Nepean Raiders". With the help of Kathy Angelo the NMHA will be producing a new handbook. The NMHA has hired Larry Ruch as our coach mentor. Larry will be working toward combining the house league and competitive groups together to form one club. He will be in involved with the hiring of all of our coaches for competitive, house league and initiation teams. NOTICE OF MOTIONS - NIL DIRECTORS/COMMITTEE REPORTS

3 Treasurer's Report Warren MacDonald noted that the auditor's report was not available for the meeting. The city of Ottawa has been sending huge invoices for ice with no back information which Warren will try to rectify. Jennifer noted the following policies for the Raider Program. l)nmha Competitive Program Policy on Raider players "Playing Up", i.e. joining and playing on a team with older aged players, on a full-time basis. This policy is the result of consultations, feedback, and a strong desire to ensure the best possible hockey experience for all NMHA members. With the exception of eight year olds trying out for the Minor Atom team(s), no NMHA player in Atom or Peewee may attend try outs for teams other than those at their own age level. For Midget and Bantam aged players, the higher-level coaches may make a request lo the Competitive Committee, seeking permission to have a younger player come to their tryouts. The Competitive Committee on an exception basis will only grant permission, after consulting the player and his or her parents, the affected coaches, and the

5 NMHA Executive Technical Director. 2)Parents of children "trying-out" for a Raider team are not to be involved in the selection process. Involvement includes not only on ice activity but extends to working with or for the Head Coach in any capacity during the try-out process. The only exceptions are when a parent is also a Head Coach or when the Head Coach has sought and received permission from the competitive Chair to involve a parent. Violation of this policy will nut be tolerated. 3)Currently the competitive committee is in the midst of drafting the policy on NNHA raider coaches expenses. They are trying to provide more structure to the process of reimbursing coaches for expenses. Once this policy comes into effect it will be implemented for the next hockey season. Jennifer discussed the process of coach's selection for the upcoming hockey season. With Larry Ruch in place as the technical director of hockey operations it was necessary to interview all candidates at the various levels. Midget B -Dave Doyle District Chairman - Nil Registrar Craig Shouldice spoke for Janet who sent her regrets. He noted that the NMHA has 2509 players registered. 96% have a valid address. The old registration system was no longer affordable for the NMHA. Janet sent her thanks to all of the managers and directors for their work. House League Judy Ramm was the Chairperson for the Novice to Peewee levels and Valeric Paul was the Chairperson for the Bantam to Juvenile levels. Judy thanked all of the directors and convenors for all of the levels. Judy also announced the Coaches of the Year for the, B and C levels of the house league divisions.
