The Seawolves will host the Nanooks on Friday, Feb. 26 at the Sullivan Arena, before traveling to Fairbanks for the second game on Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Carlson Center. Friday s game is scheduled to start at 7:07 p.m., while Saturday s matchup is set for 7:05 p.m. THE SERIES UAA vs. UAF OVERALL: UAA leads AT UAA: UAA leads AT UAF: UAA leads LAST MEETING: Feb. 28, 2009 (UAA won, 3-0) STREAK: UAA 2 CUP RECORD: Tied, 8-8 NOTES: The Seawolves enter the Cup with three straight titles... UAA hasn t lost to UAF since Dec. 31, 2005, while the last time UAA lost to UAF at the Sully was on Oct. 22, 2005 since bench boss Dave Shyiak took the reins, the Seawolves are against UAF the Governor s Cup, which started during the season, has gone into a shootout to determine the winner on four occasions last was (2-2), when UAF won the shootout, 3-2 last season, the Governor s Cup returned to a two-game format the Cup started as a two-game contest and continued for six seasons before changing to a four-game format for nine seasons. SCOUTING ALASKA FAIRBANKS: The Nanooks enter the series with the Seawolves with a overall record UAF currently sits 4th in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association with 45 points the Nanooks are ranked No. 17 in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports poll and received 19 points in the USA Today / USA Hockey Magazine poll both released on Feb. 22 UAF is led offensively by freshman F Andy Taranto ( ) and senior F Dion Knelsen ( ) from the blueline, sophomore D Joe Sova leads the Nanooks with totals between the pipes, sophomore G Scott Greenham (.921sv%, 2.17gaa, ) has suited up for 32 games with the Blue & Gold UAF plays UAA after sweeping Lake Superior (4-0, 5-1) on Feb the Nanooks haven t lost a game since Jan. 30 at Northern Michigan (3-2) UAF hasn t been swept all season second-year head coach Dallas Ferguson owns a record, since taking over the program. WCHA STANDINGS: Following the sweep by Minnesota State, the Seawolves fell to No. 8 in the 10-member conference prior to last weekend, the Seawolves were tied for No. 7 with the Minnesota Gophers with 18 points apiece the Gophers were able to sweep Colorado College, taking all four points and sole ownership of No. 7 Minnesota State continues to trail UAA at No. 9 with 17 points with 8 points, Michigan Tech has clinched last in the league the Seawolves have two conference games remaining, while Minnesota and Minnesota State have four left Denver and St. Cloud State have clinched home ice. MOST LEAGUE WINS: With two conference games left, the Seawolves are looking for their most league wins since the season with 8 conference wins under its belt, UAA needs one more to tie last season (9-14-5) and two more to tie the season ( ). SCORING BREAKDOWN: The junior class (6 skaters) is producing 40 percent of UAA s scoring with 29 goals and 46 assists, while the senior (6 skaters) class produced 26 percent and the freshman class (7 skaters) comprises 24 percent of the scoring the sophomores, with only three representatives, brings in the final 10 percent.
