Rosemount Hockey Academic Excellence Program We are excited to announce that the RAHA Board of Directors will be hosting a recognition program for RAHA players who achieved academic excellence during the hockey season. Through our Rosemount Hockey Academic Excellence Program, we recognize players who are excelling on the ice, as well as in the classroom. This program is open to our players from 4 th grade (Squirt/U10) to 9 th grade (Bantam/U14) who earn a 3.0 or better GPA in either the first or second trimester. To celebrate this achievement for our student athletes, the board of directors is hosting a recognition party at the Rosemount Middle School on April 2nd from 6:30-8:00pm. Keep up on your grades kids so you have an opportunity to participate in this event. Keep an eye out for more information about this event from your team managers. RAHA ON FACEBOOK! Like us on Facebook: Rosemount Area Hockey Association Over the past couple of years we have been working to expand our modes of communication to ensure we are reaching all RAHA families. In order to reach even more of our expanding community RAHA has now launched our Facebook page. Watch for upcoming events and other communications via FB, in addition to our Monthly newsletter or our webpage. Next stop Twitter... Stay tuned! DIBS The end of the season is fast approaching and for those of you who still have volunteer hours to complete it is time to get signed up for your DIBS shift. All DIBS hours must be completed by the end of March to avoid having your volunteer check cashed. We need assistance from all RAHA families in order for our association to run smoothly. We do not want to cash your check. We do need your time. To find DIB shifts, go to the DIB tab at rosemounthockey.org. You need to be signed in under the account that you used to register your player to view available shifts. Thank you to all the families that have completed shifts and helped make the season great. Page 3
RAHA NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!! PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION TO THE CITY OF ROSEMOUNT Our hockey participation numbers are at a all time high with registration increasing 10% each of the past two years. We have grown to over 30 teams with over 550 boys and girls skating in our association, but there is a huge problem. We only have ONE full sheet of ice. Add in the four high school boys and girls teams and the shortage of ice can no longer be ignored. RAHA is in full support of a recent petition that was started on asking the City of Rosemount to build a multi-sport complex with a full sized ice sheet. We need to come together with the other sports associations in our community and have our voices heard. Our community is growing and with the projected growth, the TIME IS NOW. PLEASE SUPPORT AND SIGN THE PETITION! Go to the RAHA homepage and click on the petition link and have your voice heard. Together we can make a DIFFERENCE!!! Page 4

Rosemount Area Hockey Association Trophy Case-continuted Consolation Champion Bantam AA - Carbone s Classic Bantam B1 - Fairbault Bantam C - Somerset Tournament Peewee C White - Coon Rapids Tournament 12UA-Hopkins Thanksgiving Tournament Traveling Team News The Irish Jr Gold squad traveled to Superior, Wisconsin over the first weekend of the new year and brought back the trophy with a perfect 4-0 record. The Irish dominated the early competition with victories over Grand Rapids 10-1, North End 5-0 and Blaine would end up being the Irish lucky number as a championship game 5-0 victory over Lakeville would seal the deal. The tournament win pushes the Jr. Gold record to on the season. Congrats on the win and great start to the season. The Bantam AA Boys traveled north for the 2015 Neal Broten Bantam A Tournament and earned 2nd out of 12 teams. Wins over Thief River Falls 8-1 and Minot ND 7-1 combined with a 4-3 loss to Wayzata was good for the wild card birth and semi-final birth. An exciting semi against Superior Wi would go to a shootout with the Irish prevailing in a 4-3 win. The championship would be against St Louis Park and a 1 goal game in the 3rd would end up a 4-2 win for the Orioles. The Bantam C Boys are 3 for 3 in their quest for hardware after bringing home the third place trophy from the Duluth tournament. They started the tourney off strong win a decisive 9-1 win over the Minneapolis Storm. The boys continued strong with a 6-3 win over Lakeville North Black. We fell 6-2 in the semifinals against a fast Prior Lake team. The Irish finished off with a 2-1 victory over Lakeville North Red to take home the third place trophy. Page 6
Traveling Team News The Peewee AA adds a second 3rd place trophy to their mantle bringing home the hardware from the 16 team Roseau Dick Johnson Tournament. The boys beat down on OMG 3-2, Moorhead 3-0 and Duluth East 4-3 to earn a semi-final match-up with White Bear Lake. A tight game went the Bears way 3-2, but the Irish would bounce back with a 7-3 win over Blaine in the 3rd place game. Rosemount Peewee B2 wins the Anoka Tournament. Wins over Moorhead, 15-1, Mahomedi 3-2, Osseo Maple Grove 5-4, and a shoot out win over Mounds View in the championship game. The Squirt B Blue Boys continue their dream season taking down the Woodbury Rumble and their 3rd Championship of the season. Top local programs in White Bear Lake, Eden Prairie and Edina would be the pool opponents and an impressive win over the Bears 7-1 would get the Irish off to a great start. Edina Gold was next in line as Rosemount looked to make it 4 for 4 against the green and white this season. The boys would get the W 3-2 in a great back and forth game, but the Hornet loss wouldn t quite shut down the hive. One to go as a victory over Eden Prairie would earn a spot in the Sunday Semi s and Tristan Fischer would lead the way in a 6-0 shutout. The victory would give the Irish the #1 seed and join Prior Lake Navy, Woodbury Royal and WHO DAT?...Edina Gold in the Final Four. Yes, Edina Gold would earn the wild card and #4 seed and the rematch was on. Another epic game would find the Irish in 2-1 and 3-2 deficits, but no quit in this team as Cadyn Campbell and Jake Toll would find the equalizers and we would head into overtime all locked up at 3. Some great OT goaltending would spoil any celebration and the this one would be decided in a shootout. Irish goaltender Easton Richter would take over from there shutting down the Hornets in 4 of the 5 attempts and Ty Hansen and Jake Toll lit the lamp for a 4-3 shootout final. A convincing 4-1 title game win over the Lakers would top off the weekend and call for another back Page 7
Traveling Team News Rosemount Squirt C Blue continues Rosemount Domination of the Mankato Meltdown tournament. Rosemount is now a 4 time defending champ after the Squirt C Blue team defeated Edina 9-4, Mankato Black 9-1 and beat Wayzata Gold in the championship 7-3. The Irish Squirt C Green started the tournament strong by shutting out Edina, 5-0. They followed up with another victory over Blaine, 9-1 with Matt Boerboom scoring his second hat trick of the tournament and Carter FitzPatrick put in two goals on his birthday. The championship game was a real nail-biter against the strong, equally matched Chaska/Chanhassen team. At 1:39 left in the game, Shawn Swoope snuck the puck past the goalie for a 1-0 win with goalie, Lance Nelson earning his second shutout of the tournament. Only one goal was scored against the Rosemount Irish Squirt C Green team during the Ice Breaker tournament in Highland Park on Jan. 2-4 earning them the championship title. Rosemount Irish skater, Peter Kegley, won the Fastest Skater competition at the Ice Breaker tournament. Page 8

Support Our Great Sponsors PROGRAM CHANGES STARTING January 1, 2015 Kwik Trip Fundraising Participants, This message is to inform you that Kwik Trip is making some changes to their gas card fundraising program effective January 1st, Kick-Back Percentage Lowered to 5% Currently RAHA is receiving a 10% discount while passing 8% back to our membership. RAHA will now be passing the full 5% back to our members under the new structure. So you will now be receiving a $5 credit on every $100 card you purchase through our website. $3 is a significant change, but the $5 per card will still add up over a 12 month period. Remember...unlike other associations, RAHA allows its members to fund raise 24/7/365, so you can still save hundreds of dollars off hockey if you commit to getting all your gas through our program on an annual basis. 10% Back for in-store purchases Kwik Trip will now be giving a 10% rebate on in-store purchases and RAHA will use this rebate to help pay for our online merchant and ordering expenses. The 10% rebate is not applicable to Lottery Tickets, Cigarettes, Gift Cards and stamp purchases, but everything else in the store. Example: on a $100 card, you use $70 for gas and $30 in the store...a 10% rebate will be given to RAHA on the $30 for a total of $3. This has been a phenomenal fundraiser for RAHA as it has brought in $12-$15K annually over the last 2 years. This will now be going away as we hope to just cover our expense. So as you continue to use the program, please remember that your in-store purchases not only helping you, but also helping your association pay for the program expenses. RAHA will give the 8% for as long as our stock of 2014 card purchases lasts We are going to continue to give our members the 8% back into 2015 until we are out of 8% cards. The exact date will depend on our order volume and when the cards we purchased before Dec 31st are out of stock. We have posted a notification on the website just above the ORDER & PAY FOR MY CARDS button. For Kwik Trips official announcement to the program changes CLICK HERE Page 15
