2 The 2017 Show was once again a very successful event and despite the challenging weather conditions it was a huge success for all concerned. We continue to be regarded as one of the biggest and best events in the South West. The Showground at Knightshayes Chettiscombe continues to develop year on year. Together with the excellent access and car parking facilities we were pleased to receive fantastic feedback from Exhibitors, Traders and Visitors alike. All cattle in breed classes must be eligible for registration in Breed Society Herd Book ALL CATTLE TO BE LED AND BULLS TO BE RINGED It is a condition of entry that exhibitors ensure that handlers must only lead animals where they have the necessary strength and experience to cope with foreseeable problems. Please indicate on your entry form if your herd is officially IBR and/or Leptospirosis free. Any class within a breed, having only one entry will be amalgamated with another class within that breed. Exhibitors will be notified of the position in time to allow them to withdraw, if they so wish. 14 SHEEP 2018 An Award of 30 will be made for the Best Exhibitor's Area and Best Presented Livestock within the Sheep lines Senior Steward : Gavin Stevens SHEEP CLASSES - SPECIAL NOTICE 1) Sheep Scab - Exhibitors must comply with SAC sheep scab regulations in force at the time 2) Maedi Visna - Entries for non-scheme flocks will be accepted. Exhibitors with Accredited flocks must bring their papers for verification on arrival. Separate pen areas allocated. 3) Docking - Current legislation requires that lambs must have sufficient tail retained to cover the vulva of female sheep and the anus of the male sheep. Sheep will be inspected in the lines by the Show's Veterinary Officers 4) All sheep in breed classes must be eligible for registration in the Breed Society Flock Book It is a condition of entry that exhibitors ensure that handlers must only lead animals where they have the necessary strength and experience to cope with foreseeable problems. All Champion and Reserve Champion animals must enter the Grand Parade. Any class within a breed, having only one entry will be amalgamated with another class within that breed. 31 RULES AND REGULATIONS All cattle, sheep, pig and goat exhibitors to be in the Show Field with their exhibits by 8.30am. No exhibits to be removed from the Show Field before 5.30pm without written permission being first obtained from the Show Organiser 5. It is the right at their absolute discretion to put forward or alter any class without notice if found expedient to do so and the right to refuse any entry and to cancel or amalgamate any class if less than three entries or otherwise without necessarily, giving a reason. The Society reserves the right to withdraw that breed section in the event of there being less than 4 exhibitors in any one. All livestock must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor for one month prior to the closing date for entries. Full breeding details to be provided in breed classes. 6. Suitable clothing must be worn for the purpose, in particular footwear. 7. The Society will adhere as closely as possible to the published schedule and programme but reserve breed Section the Society reserve the right to withdraw that Breed Section. 1, N.B. 10. In awarding Interbreed Championships, only the Champion in each breed shall be initially paraded: when the judge has decided the Interbreed Champion he shall then call for the second prize winner in the Champion's class so that it may be considered with the other Champions for Reserve Interbreed Champion. Not applicable to Interbreed Cattle Pairs Championship. 12. All protests must be made in writing stating the grounds of objection and must be 13. All disputes shall be settled by committee which the Society has appointed or by any referee whom that committee may appoint and such decision shall be final. 14 All animals entered for special prizes or cups must be in their appropriate class. 15. Please ensure that you register your entry by the closing date. Entry passes - One vehicle pass plus:-two tickets up to three animals. Three tickets for four or five animals; Four tickets for six or more animals: Up to two tickets at the concessionary rate may be purchased. For Young Handler classes etc. tickets will be allocated as one per exhibitor, if all junior entries then one extra ticket will be provided for a parent/guardian. 31

32 CATTLE RULES AND REGULATIONS Cows must not appear in the ring in an over-stocked condition. 18. All bulls to be shown by two competent handlers. 19. All prize winners are expected to participate in the Grand Parade. SHEEP 20. Sheep Scab - Exhibitors must comply with SAC regulations in force at the time. 21. Maedi Visna - Entries from non-scheme flocks will be accepted, except where stated relevant certificates must be brought with any Accredited entry. Separate pen areas allocated. 22. Docking - Current legislation requires that lambs must have sufficient tail retained to cover the vulva of female sheep and the anus of male sheep. 23. No sheep to be shown in any more than one section, with the exception of Young Handlers 24. Sheep will be inspected in the lines by the Show's Veterinary Officers. 25. All females of the Dorset Horn; Polled Dorset or Finnish Landrace must be accompanied by a declaration that the animals are non-pregnant (empty) or have not lambed in the previous 30 d ays. 26. All Champions and Reserve Champions are expected to participate in the Grand Parade 27. Conditions of entry are subject to current DEFRA movement restrictions and exhibitors must comply with all animal health regulations in force at the time of the show. 28. All goats must be ear tagged in accordance with DEFRA regulations. 29. All exhibits must be registered with the Pygmy Goat Club with the exception of female kid under 6 months, male kids under 12 months, wethers and pet females. Registration details must be included on the entry form. 31. No late entries or substitutions will be allowed. 32. All dates to be calculated to the day of the show. Dates of birth and kidding dates to be included on the entry form. 33. No pregnant goats may be admitted to the showground. 34. Goats to have kidded a minimum of 30 days prior to the show. 35. es with only one entry will be cancelled or, if possible, amalgamated. VEHICLESES We respectfully require all drivers to adhere to the speed limits on site and follow directions from stewards at all times. Movement of vehicles on show day is not allowed between 8.30am and 5.30pm.
