We appreciate the 4-H members who made the extra effort to complete record books showcasing their 4-H accomplishments during the year. It s never too early to begin recording information for this 4-H year s record books or for clubs to set a goal to win one or more of our 4-H club awards! If you haven t completed a current year 4-H enrollment form, now is the time to do so. The December 14th re-enrollment deadline is quickly approaching and we don t want you to miss out on upcoming 4-H activities such as Senior Leadership, shooting sports, 4-H rodeo practices and livestock shows. The Senior Leadership registration deadline is December 7th. Be sure to stop by the office to drop off your form and payment. Remember, there will also be a mandatory SLR orientation on January 2nd for all participants and adult volunteer chaperones who will be attending SLR January in Albuquerque. 2 4-H Member and Leader News and Notes H Re-Enrollment Forms Due December 14th Per County Council By Laws, each club is to submit RE ENROLLMENT FORMS by the third week of December in order for the club to move forward into the new year. Club organizational leaders should also submit their own enrollment forms in the Extension Office by above date. New member enrollment forms will be accepted through April 15, Adult volunteer leader enrollment forms are accepted throughout the 4 H year. Leader background checks are required by State 4 H Office every 5 years. The Extension Office will inform leaders needing a new background check. New adult volunteer leaders must first complete a background check application before enrolling. Members involved in Fall and Winter 4 H Activities such as Shooting Sports, Livestock Shows and National Competitions Must Have New 4 H Enrollment Form On File in the Extension Office before particpating. According to state and national 4-H policy, members may participate in occasional, non -competitive, age-appropriate activities. CloverBuds do not have ongoing projects, of any kind including animal projects nor should they participate as a 4-H competitor with animals, large or small. 6 4-H Shooting Sports News Archery Safety Orientations January the Fire Training Center in Aztec OR on February McGee Park X-Pert Archery League Begins January 6pm (Must shoot a 180 to earn a sponsored spot) TO LEARN MORE Call Coach Paul H Shotgun Practices Last Day for Seniors to Sign-Up for Shotgun Practices & Contests December 16th Next Practices: December 16th & 30th No Practice December 23 Juniors 10:00am / Seniors 11:00am General Rules All shooters must complete a current year 4-H enrollment form before beginning practices. All shooters must attend at least half of regular scheduled practices to qualify for the county average. Schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, date conflicts with other range events, or at the coaches discretion. Remember: We are guests at the SJWF Range. Everyone will be respectful of property and people. Senior state teams determined on a 3-month average of 300 targets (150 skeet / 150 trap) in December, January and February. Teams announce at first practice in March. Each 100 high score will be used each month for shooter s average. Attendance and attitude factor in team placement. If inactive for two consecutive years, re-certification is required. It is suggested that certified instructors attend a training workshop every 3-5 years. Senior Air Rifle &.22 Rifle San Juan Wildlife Federation Range Air Rifle Wednesday s 6:30-8:30pm.22 Rifle Saturday s 1:30-4:00pm Final Mandatory Safety Mtg. Returning & new participants must have attended safety meeting by cut off date of DECEMBER 14. Participants must attend 50% of practices to be eligible for county competition and must be in good standing with 4-H council and club by-laws in order to compete.
