It s been great to have abundant moisture in the form of snow, but I m ready for warmer temperatures and rain as we move into spring. This month we are gearing up for 4-H Day Camp on March 19th. The $5 fee & registration are due March 11th. Members are to bring a new white t-shirt for an activity as well as school supplies for our community service project that will benefit youth in the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. See more details within the newsletter. The annual 4-H County Carnival and CWF Dance w ill be March 23rd a week later than usual. Clubs are asked to RSVP by March 8th to the Extension Office. We look forward to lots of games and great food! If you re interested in signing up for participating in this years County 4-H Contests, complete the enclosed registration form and return it to the Extension Office by April 1. We ll be setting practice schedules after the registration deadline. Youth Get-Away registration is now open and w ill continue through the March 20th county deadline. Forms are available at the Extension Office and on our county website for interested novice and junior members. Seniors may apply for counselor or CIT positions due March 15 in the Extension Office. Ctr. --5:30 8:00pm Game Booths / Food Items: All 4-H Clubs are welcome to sign up for one carnival game booth and/or one food item. *All Drinks Will Be Sold By 4-H County Council* Booth Set-Up Time: 4:00 5:15 pm Please be set up before 5:30pm opening to public!!! Silent Auction Donations: Each participating club is required to donate a silent auction item with at least a $15-$20 value. Funds go to the 4-H Council to benefit ALL 4-H ers participating in county events/activities. Spring Break Sewing I & II Workday March 20th At SJC Fire Training Center, Aztec Sewing I 1:00-4:30pm Learn basic sewing machine skills and techniques. Bring your sewing machine and sewing kit with basic sewing supplies and equipment in order to cut out and sew the totebag from the Sewing I project manual. You will need fabric, thread, and non-roll elastic as outlined in project manual. Workdays for the gathered skirt / shorts will be announced. Sewing II 9:30am 12:00noon Be ready to begin sewing the Handy Dandy Apron from the Sewing II 4-H project manual. Bring your sewing machine, fabric, thread, a matching button and basic sewing supplies & equipment. Workdays for the nine Patch pillow will be announced. All shooters must attend at least half of regular scheduled practices to qualify for the county average. Schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, date conflicts with other range events, or at the coaches discretion. Remember: We are guests at the SJWF Range. 7 4-H Club Member / Leader Notes Novice, Junior and Senior 4-H Shooting Sports Member in Good Standing Policy ALL 4-H shooting sports members must follow the policies below in order to move forward to county competitions in each shooting sports discipline. Attend at least 40% of scheduled 4-H club meetings and activities Be involved in at least one 4-H leadership experience (officer, committee, demonstration) Be involved in at least one 4-H club community service project Meet specific club by-law requirements Must also attend shooting sports safety orientations and practices as scheduled by shooting sports coaches. Club organizational leaders will confirm club member standing within each individual 4-H club. Big R Stores - producing partners youth programe 4-H members enrolled in livestock projects are encouraged to stop by the Bloomfield or Farmington Big R Store to complete an application for financial assistance to defray project expenses. Enrollment will be verified with the County Extension Office. A set amount, for no more than one large animal and two small animals, will be placed on a store gift card for the 4-H member to use as needed. Ask to speak to the store manager.
