3 Dog Project News Dog project members were treated to a talk and demonstration about law enforcement K9s. Officer David Presley, Cpl. Troy Walter and Officer Leo visited us October 15th at our meeting in Pleasanton River Park. We learned about the superior senses that dogs use to help us in the areas of search and rescue and drug sniffing, how to become a K9 handler and how they select and train dogs. Officer Leo performed a drug sniffing demonstration, finding a hidden cotton ball that had been scented with drugs. Pictured from l to r are, in back Tyler McDonald, Mary Jo Paschall, Chloe Jackson, Officer Presley, Rhetta Roberts, Michelle Pfeil, Coy Aldrich, Luke Robertson, Seth Robertson, Austin Stafford, Jayden Ogg, Cpl. Walter and Officer Leo. In front, l to r are Rayven Wilson, Emily Dominguez, and Mattie Wright. Agriculture Fair for 4th Grade The Agriculture Fair for all Atascosa 4th graders was a great success. They learned how cotton was ginned, how cows are milked, the things cattle give us beside beef, Travis Bonner was there as a Livestock Ambassador, Ethan Ayala and Yancey Miller spoke about the Quail and Duck Brigades, a herpetologist had every snake native to Texas to show them, they learned about electricity, soil conservation, and water conservation. We had quite a few 4-Hers and their parents helping the Extension Office Staff keep everything running smoothly, and the Texas Extension ladies provided us with yummies. Thanks go out to TEEA and all of those who helped. Special thanks to the following 4-H members and their parents: Retta, & Rori, Roberts and their mother, Chloe, Lydia, and Bennett Jackson, and their mother, Luke Robertson and his mother, Jodie Sheerer and Tasha Meyer. Pictured on the right are Luke Robertson and Jodie Shearrer messing with a snake during clean up and on the left are Ethan Ayala and Yancey Miller promoting the Brigades. The upper photo is of the exciting Karnes Electric Demonstration.
