Top pounds per head realised for a good pen of 50kg Texels for vendor K Shuttleworth, Far Mountbarrow being purchased also by A Dawson, Sedbergh. A pleasing trade was had throughout the sale with Mule Gimmer Lambs topping at 110 for the first prize pen exhibited by Alan Walton, Stable Harvey. Another good pen of Mule Gimmers reached 99 for W&PA Walton & Son, Low Kinmont. A few pens of keenly sought after Black Gimmers were in great demand around the ring as they reached 98 twice for W&PA Walton & Son, Low Kinmont and P&TL Edmondson, Low Hall. Texel Gimmers realised 80 for S Cunliffe, Seatle Hall and Beltex Gimmer Lambs reached 87 DJ Dickinson, Lane End. Powerful Blue Faced Leicester Shearling Rams reached 500 and 340 for W&PA Walton & Son, Low Kinmont. A small entry of Breeding Ewes reached a high of 100 for two crop Texels for vendors BT&S Atkinson, Meadow View. An excellent entry of store lambs met a very positive trade with a meaty pen of Texels topping at 60 also for vendors BT&S Atkinson, Meadow View. Other store lambs realised for both Suffolks and Texels exhibited by DR Rigg, High Flan while Charolais Lambs realised 51 for DT Wood, Abbot Reading. Kerry Hill Stores were in high demand reaching 53 for F&HD Tyson, Hycemoor. Cast Ewes/Rams Another pleasing entry saw trade being similar to the national trends with Texels topping at 84 for S Cunliffe, Seatle Hall being purchased by GP Jones, Wrexham. A very pleasing, much larger than expected entry of Store Cattle on offer attracted a very crowded, eager ringside of active buyers from near and far. It was encouraging to welcome new faces around the ringside. Fresh faces helped to maintain a very buoyant and pleasing trade with many strong cattle reaching well over the thousand pound mark. An excellent number of tremendous quality cattle were placed in front of the extremely capable judge Mr Tyse Rothery, Priory Park and he did an excellent job using his expertise as he placed the awards. Many thanks go to Mr Rothery for judging such extremely difficult classes.
