4 4-H Club News Garrattsville Gray Wolves Club reports These are the meeting minutes from last month, December 3rd, The meeting began at 3:13 p.m. Our balance is $ The club discussed the Earn-an-Animal Program. The Public Presentation Program was discussed. It will be held at Morris High School on February 17, The next scheduled club meeting will be January 7th. The topic of the meeting will be building gingerbread houses and ice cream. Elections were held. New officers as follows: President: Gavin. Vice President: Grace. Secretary: Anya. Treasurer: Noelle. News reporter: Emma. The Cooking Clinic in February was discussed. The visit to the Capital to be held in March was discussed. The March 30 and 31st Dairy Discovery Program was discussed. Meeting was adjourned. Kids and Kritters Cloverbud Club reports We had our first club meeting October 22, Nature without 5 senses was the first game we played, we played a game where the members were blindfolded and had to reach I a bag and pick something and figure out what it is. Took a nature walk. Alex Baker instructed them in a drawing project where each member drew a simple goat. At the November 19, 2017 meeting the members mounted the photographs they took at the previous meeting for their project books. We learned what harvest is, we discussed the many foods we do harvest. Then they removed sunflowers seeds from those that I grew to feed the wild birds. We made playdough pumpkins decorated with popcorn kernels. At the December 17, 2017 meeting we began the study of Wildlife. We read The Wild Christmas Reindeer by Jan Brett. We used the Kid s first Beginners Book of Animals to identify wild animals. Lord of the Reins Club reports.we were given 46 Wilton character/novelty cake pans. We are keeping them in a cake pan lending library for the club. I think a professional cake decorator retired and heard that LOR was doing cake decorating. Voila! This past week we learned to make marshmallow fondant and learned that one can cover character cakes with this soft pliable fondant. Next meeting the students will be using the fondant they made to cover cakes. The students also decided to make fondant roses for practice to see if the method Teagen taught for candy clay roses would work with marshmallow fondant (yes, with modification). Moral of the story: Posting stories on FB and POY lets people know what one's club is doing and they may have ways to help. The cake pans are all cataloged on the FB page and will be going in to totes for storage. Lord of the Reins 4-H Club 4
