1 May 2011 MARK YOUR CALENDARS! May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd Spring Series 2pm 1st Pool Open from Noon-6pm 6th Pool Opens 3:30pm-9pm 6th Cinco de Mayo First Friday 6pm 13th, 20th, 27th Sunset Friday s 30th Memorial Day 1pm Final Spring Series 4pm ish Mem. Day Picnic June June 3rd First Friday 6pm June 10th, 17th Sunset Friday June 13th First day of Summer Camp and Learn to Sail June 24 SAYRA Youth Challenge & LCR Commodores Welcome Party June 24th, 25th 26th Lowcountry Regatta From the Commodore Spring season is well under way now and there can't be anywhere more beautiful to enjoy it than BYSC. The Spring Series kicked off last month and, as you probably noticed, we have not been wanting for wind. If you are not racing in the spring series, but want to get out on the water, this is the time to do it. If you are new to sailing or just haven't sailed in a while, David Dixon is available for lessons, and would be more than happy to help you rig up a boat. Beaufort Yacht & Sailing Club... The pool is now open on weekends and will be open this Friday night for a Cinqo de Mayo themed First Friday. Chuck and Christy Rushing are planning the event, and I'm pretty sure this one will be memorable. Bring the family out for an afternoon sail or dip in the pool, then join us for what is sure to be a big party. The pool will be open until 9pm, and several piñata s are waiting to be bludgeoned open by the kids. If you have not signed your children up for Summer Camp or Learn-to-Sail, yet, you need to give Bo a call in the office. Spaces are filling up fast and a few sessions are nearly full. I can't tell you how many members I talk to that tell me how much fun they had spending summers sailing when they were kids. BYSC's summer programs will be one of your children's best memories and will also help them develop skills and confidence to safely enjoy the water for the rest of their lives. Thanks to everyone that participated in the camp survey. With 108 responses, it was a great help in planning this year s camp. 69% percent of you graded camp either above average or excellent, while 84.5% said your children will be returning. Feedback received via the comments section of the survey were very helpful and have been incorporated into camp. Hope to see you out at the club or out on the water!
