At the very least, temperatures ver 75 F will decrease the feed efficiency and weight gain f sws and hgs. Sws are f particular cncern in such heat because heat stress can reduce their milk prductin, and reduce the grwth f yung pigs. Extreme heat stress can cause reprductin prblems, and even death. T deal with these prblems, Greenhill Manufacturing has develped an ecnmical intermittent electrnic cntrller, with drip, spray, and fg/mist cling systems. The electrnic cntrller and slenid valve assemblies are all made f heavy-duty plastic and stainless steel. The cntrller itself makes use f ultra-lw pwer cnsumptin electrnic cmpnents, (less than tw watts Slenid valve manual verride lever, rtate cunter-clckwise t turn n water. Water Strainer Water Inlet - Attach t ballcck r hydrant using G220 cnnectr lbs lbs lbs lbs. G240-15B Preset Pressure egulatr (15PSI) withut slenid activities,) and is hused in a watertight, heavy-duty plastic case. The cntrller is factry set t activate at 78 F, and will turn cling water n fr ne minute, and ff fr ten minutes. The DG2100 mdel has an additinal temperature stage; if the temperature ges abve 88 F, the cntrller will turn water n fr tw minutes and ff fr ten. These settings will very likely never need t be changed, but the user can easily adjust them if he r she s chses. Drip Cling Drip cling is achieved by placing a dripper abve the sw s neck and shulders. Munting details are given in the next few pages. The drip nzzles drip at the rate f ne galln per hur (GPH) at 15 PSI, r abut tw unces every ten minutes. If additinal water is needed, it can be btained in several ways; the first by increasing n Time (instructins are n fllwing pages), and the secnd by increasing system pressure using higher flwing pressure regulatrs (G240-K3, Pressure egulatr Kit). If less water is desired, it can be btained by decreasing system n Time r pressure. Individual drippers can be adjusted r shut ff using the clse-ffs (G138) illustrated in the fllwing pages. Spray Cling Spray cling is achieved by running verhead lines abve the area t be sprayed. Greenhill furnishes tw types f nzzles, a standard 180 fixed spray nzzle (G140) and a rtary spray nzzle (G150). The standard fixed spray nzzle (G140) sprays 12 GPH r 2/10 gallns per ten minutes ver a half circle area with a three ft radius as shwn in the fllwing pages. The rtary spray nzzle (G150) uses 9 GPH and thrws it ver a circle eight feet in diameter. If mre r less water is desired, it can be btained by increasing r decreasing pressure r changing watering times as utlined abve. 5 Hle Punch Place hle punch (G280) perpendicular t 1/2 hse as shwn in Figure 1. Using a twisting mtin, (Figure 2) cut ut a disk frm the hse. Figure 3 shws hw it shuld lk after the hle has been punched. After all hles are punched and drippers, sprayers, cnnectrs, and tees are attached, flush ut the system s that any freign material that may have entered the lines will be remved and will nt clg the drippers r sprayers. Imprtant! 1. Use nly the hle punch supplied t make hles. Use f ther bjects t make hles may create an uneven, ragged hle which will nt seal arund barbs, resulting in leakage. 2. eplace hle punch when it becmes dull.
