1 Edmonds Petanque Club a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization th Avenue South, Suite 206 Edmonds, WA Board Meeting, October 29, 2014 The meeting started with a delicious lunch served by Michelle. Members Present: Jerry Fireman, Dick Van Hollebeke, Michelle Martin, David Rockwell, Tom Nunn, Larry Thomas. Absent: Karen Crabb. Also present: Mike Martin Discussion of the Referee Testing. Jerry and David did not pass the measurement test but passed the written test on rules. It was not very satisfactory in how it was handled (lack of timely feedback) but the feeling was to just wait for a while in whether or not the two candidates should continue going through the process. The consensus was that it is not big deal to have referees. There is no desire to hold regional or national tournaments in Edmonds. There are no details on how to measure and perhaps we should encourage the leadership to prepare clear printed instructions and standards for measuring. Michelle called the meeting at 12:05. MSP to approve the minutes as printed. Financial Reports We now have 67 members (15 are friends of the club and not FPUSA members) The checking account has $ MSP to accept the Treasurer s Report. Old Business 1. Referee Examination. The pre meeting conversation covered the Referee Examination. 2. Club Shirts. Larry has sold 3 of 6 shirts at $38 per shirt 3. Informal Tournament held October people played and it was very successful in terms of fun and we made $66. It added a bit of luster to our normal Saturday play. It will be done again. Dick did a presentation to Men of Leisure at Brighton Court and it was well received. New Business 1. Nomination for Board members for There are three positions up for election: Member at Large (Karen Crabb), President, and Treasurer. The Board will request nominations from the members before the election is held. Michelle is willing to serve again. Tom chooses to not serve again. Karen will be asked whether she is willing to serve another term as Member at Large.
2 Discussion was held to perhaps have a simpler accounting process which would make it easier to recruit a candidate. Dick and Michelle will investigate a simpler process for the work of the treasurer and will report back to the Board. 2. Calendar of events for a. Annual Meeting January 11 b.
