Del Potro last defeated Tiafoe in straight sets at this year's Australian Open. Playing in the third match on Stadium Court is No. 8 seed Hyeon Chung against qualifier Franko Skugor. Chung won the 2017 Next Gen ATP Finals championship and has followed with a quarter-final appearance at Auckland and a semi-final appearance at the Australian Open, where he defeated Novak Djokovic in the Round of 16. This is the first meeting between Chung and Skugor, who is ranked No Denis Shapovalov, the youngest player in the Delray Beach draw at 18 years, 10 months, defeated 38-year-old Ivo Karlovic to set up a first-time meeting with American Jared Donaldson in the second round. Sock faces countryman Reilly Opelka for the first time in their career. The 6-foot-11 Opelka is playing in his first ATP Tour level event this season and advanced to this stage after defeating fellow American Ryan Harrison in two tiebreak sets. No. 6 seed John Isner leads off play on Stadium Court against Germany's Peter Gojowczyk, who has reached two quarter-finals so far in 2018 (Doha and Auckland). Isner has had success in Delray Beach in previous years, having reached the semi-finals three times from 2012 to 2014, and now carries a 10-5 record here. Leading off singles play on Stadium Court Tuesday is American No. 6 seed John Isner against Radu Albot of Moldova. The two met for the first time just last week at the New York Open, where Albot defeated Isner in three sets before reaching the quarter-finals. Isner is a three-time semi-finalist in Delray Beach. Following Isner and Albot is a contest between Japan's Taro Daniel and No. 9 seed Milos Raonic. Raonic made it to the final here last year against Jack Sock, but he was forced to withdraw due to injury and did not play the final. He has yet to win a match in 2018 and will open his campaign Tuesday on Canada Day, along with countryman Denis Shapovalov. The 18-year-old Canadian and his opponent, 2015 champion Ivo Karlovic, are separated by 20 years of age and are meeting for the first time in their career. This will be the second time that Karlovic faces an 18-year-old left-hander in the last three weeks: He lost to Corentin Moutet in the second round at Quito. Headlining the evening matches is 2011 champion and No. 2 seed Juan Martin del Potro against France's Jeremy Chardy. The last time these two met was in the quarter-finals at this event in 2016, a contest that favored the Argentine and boosted his record against Chardy to 2-1. Preceding the del Potro match is an all-american matchup between Taylor Fritz and 2016 champion Sam Querrey. Querrey, the No. 4 seed, owns a 1-0 advantage over Fritz in their head-to-head.
