Of the remaining players, only Goffin, Denis Istomin and Paire have won an ATP World Tour title in their career. They are all in the bottom half of the draw. All four players in the top half of the draw are trying to win their first ATP World Tour title. In the first match of the day, lucky loser Kenny De Schepper looks for his second win against Zverev. The Frenchman won the previous meeting in the first round of Montpellier in February. De Schepper is trying to advance to his first career ATP World Tour semi-final while Zverev is looking to reach his third semi-final of the year. The 30-year-old German made his first ATP World Tour final showing in Metz in 2010 as a qualifier (l. to Simon). In the next match on, top Romanian Marius Copil takes on German qualifier Peter Gojowczyk, who won the only previous meeting in the first round at Wimbledon in July. Copil is attempting to reach his first career ATP World Tour semi-final while Gojowczyk is looking to advance to his second ATP World Tour semi-final of the year.
