Zomb-O-Ree Chairman s Message It is our dead-on pleasure to welcome and thank you for serving as a Troop leader for the Final Zomb-O- Ree event: Cutter s Last Stand to be held at Cutter Scout Reservation, Oct 10-12, Under the guise of training our Scouts to survive a Zombie Apocalypse, we hope to reinforce Scout skills, offer exciting programming, provide experience in teamwork, and offer a different camping experience. Some highlights of Cutter s Last Stand : The Scout patrols will compete at different Invasion Training Stations to practice a variety of Scout skills. We will be scoring the patrols performance in a traditional Camp-O-Ree fashion, with gruesome prizes for the 1st/2nd/3rd place patrols. Additionally, each scout will receive a pair of flags attached to a belt (a la flag football). These flags will represent the scout s lives and if they lose both of their flags during the day, then they are considered infected and will transform into zombies. Patrols will need to be on the lookout during the day for roaming zombies who will be looking to capture those flags! We have a cooking option for those Patrols that wish to cook their own breakfasts and dinners. However, lunch on Saturday will still be provided to all scouts in the form of an MRE (Meal, Ready to Eat), just like last year. We encourage provisional/solo scouts to join in on the fun if their Troop can t make it to this event. We will manage assigning provisional/solo scouts to a patrol. Lastly, to be in compliance with BSA National Guidelines, Troops will NOT be allowed to bring Webelos scouts to the Zomb-O-Ree. BSA National requires that Webelos Specific activities be present in order to allow Webelos to attend. In Spring of 2015, there will be a traditional Camp-O-Ree with Webelos specific activities, so please plan to bring your Webelos scouts to the Spring 2015 Camp-O-Ree. A limited edition event T-Shirt will be available for purchase onsite at the Harkson Lodge. We hope to bring a different experience to the Scouts, one that they may share with their non-scouting friends with the intended result of generating more interest in Scouting. As you may know zombies are en vogue now with a variety of different movies and television shows generating interest in the zombie genre. We would like to have the Scouts come away from this Zomb-O-Ree with excitement and enthusiastically tell their non-scouting friends about it. Thanks for participating in this event! Yours in Scouting, Rick DiMaio Zomb-O-Ree Chairman Scoutmaster, Troop 355 Millbrae 9/11/ :07:36 AM 3

Zombie Capture IMPORTANT! All Scouts will receive two (2) Human Identification Tags at the outset of Zomboree These tags are essential so that non-infected humans can be easily identified and separated from their Zombie brethren. Although these tags make it easy for us to identify you as the real deal, it also makes it easy for the Zombies. If a Zombie Attack occurs, Zombies will more than likely go for the tags as they try to infect you. Scouts who have lost both of their identification tags will be considered infected and will be required to report to the Quarantine Area in Camp Klaus at 5 pm. Save your friends or save yourself! During some events, patrols will have an opportunity to earn additional Identification Tags, to help slow the spread of infection! 9/11/ :07:36 AM 7

Friday Night Check-In - Quarantine and Isolation The weekend begins at 1800 hrs (6:00 pm) sharp, with the gates of Cutter Scout Reservation opened for the select few Troops who have gained clearance to enter. Security personnel will be guarding the gate, to prevent unauthorized visitors from entering camp. A screening process will be held at the Harkson Lodge, where the Scouts will be evaluated for the zombie virus. Once cleared, the Scouts will settle in for a quick dinner and/or go to their campsites to set up camp. Saturday Morning Events - Invasion Training Stations The morning events will consist of learning Zombie Survival Skills at a number of various activity stations. These skills will be used during the rest of the event to ward off the approaching zombie hoards. Saturday Afternoon Events Troop/Patrol Open Competition Practice the skills you learned in the morning in preparation for the Zombie Attack! Saturday Night Events - Zombie ATTACK! Zombies come out at night! The night-time events will highlight Zombie Avoidance Skills that have been acquired throughout the day. NOTE: Activities are scored, and while all troops and patrols will receive a participation ribbon, only the top three will receive special honors! Sunday Morning Check-Out - Clean-up and Recovery The shelters, fences and other collateral material built during the previous day will be taken down, and all equipment removed before Troops are allowed to leave camp. All patrols will sweep the battle area, breaking down their structures and shelters, and returning all materials to their designated areas. Each Troop will be assigned an area, and the Campmaster must authorize your release before you may leave camp and collect your event patches. 9/11/ :07:36 AM 9

Zomb-O-Ree Activities & Events (Subject to Change) Patrol Competition All events will be scored based not only on performance, but patrol cohesiveness and Scout Spirit. Please pick up your Patrol Scorecard at check-in. Each participating troop/patrol will receive an exclusive event ribbon and the three TOP patrols will receive special recognition at the Sunday morning assembly. Invasion Training Stations First Aid Reanimated corpses don t have to worry about proper medical care, but humans do! The ability to counteract trauma in the field should be everyone s top priority. Acquire basic first aid techniques in addition to casualty mobilization and evacuation strategies to insure that your group stays safe Fire Building Scouts will be asked to start a sustainable fire without the use of matches or lighters. The fire will heat water to a temperature of 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Once a 200 degree tempurature is reached, the patrol will consume unknown edible zombie body parts. This is a timed event. Time begins once any fire preparation begins and time stops once the zombie parts are fully consumed. All fire building materials will be provided with the exception of personal knives. With the exception of personal knives, no other personal tools or materials will be allowed to be used. If all else fails, a match can be provided, however each match provided will result in a time penalty. Safety, Scouting spirit and team work will play a significant role towards total points awarded in the event. At the discretion of the staff, points will be awarded or deducted. The patrol with the fastest time may not be the winner of the event. Patrols that demonstrate proficiency in fire, knife and axe safety, Scouting spirit and teamwork may have an advantage. Each patrol's cumulative score will be determined by fire starting degree of difficulty, time required, team work, Scouting spirit and overall safety. In case of food allergies, please alert the staff of any known food allergies prior to starting the event. 9/11/ :07:36 AM 10

Knots & Lashings Your ability to build structures using knots and lashings will be very useful to your defense. Learn to frap and wrap before the Zombies can take and bake! Mountain Board Massacre Run (Hosted by Don Baker, Bay Area Dirtheads) Learn skills to avoid Zombies and other undead creatures while mountain boarding down a dirt slalom course. Board and pads will be provided - just bring your courage. Wilderness Survival Civilization as we know it is GONE. Even if you can avoid becoming zombie food, you ll probably need to survive in the great outdoors for an extended period of time - or else! The first order of the day is to build a usable shelter that will provide you with a dry place to sleep and a defensible location, or at least a place to lay low until the cavalry arrives (yeah, right!) Zombie Identification What if a member of your patrol wandered off by himself and came back looking a little pale? How about slurred speech? Could he now be a Zombie? Learn the key clue on how to find out if he is just a bit worn out or has now become a danger to you and your entire patrol. (All Patrols are required to attend Zombie Identification Training during morning sessions.) Zombie Defense Centers Rifle/Shotgun Archery Varying rates of decomposition will dictate whether or not a single bullet or a wide area blast is more useful in slowing down an advancing Zombie horde especially since you have a limited supply of ammunition! If you take too long to decide, then it s Winner, winner Human Dinner. You know the Zombies are coming and soon! Maybe TONIGHT?? You are out of ammo and your fancy Anschutz 22 rifle is only useful as a club, what do you do next? Don t panic, pick up your bow and defend yourself and your team!!! At our station we will teach you everything you need to know about defending yourself against Zombies using Archery. Archery is quiet and just as deadly to Zombies as rifles without the muzzle flash to give away your position. You will quickly acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitude to STOP THE ZOMBIES IN THEIR TRACKS!!! Archery - The Sport of Man Since Time Began. 9/11/ :07:36 AM 11

Team Response (Troop/Patrol) Events Zombie Chop Everyone knows that a chopped up Zombie can t move as fast as a whole one Increase your chance for survival by reducing these decaying corpses down to stumps. We ve modified our tomahawks to be used as Zomahawks at this vital station. That s right - we re talking about a meat cleaver flesh chopping frenzy! Show these rotting bags of bones who s boss with your Zomahawk throwing skills. Chop one, chop a few, stopping the Zombies is all up to you. Dead Men Walking Traveling at night with hordes of hungry Zombies roaming the Earth means almost certain death. Only your superior navigation skills can save you. Seven secret codes along the path to safety need to be found to get into contact with the ONE organization that can ensure your survival. Find them all or die. Zombie Water Attack Your team is preparing for a water-borne Zombie attack! Your task is to practice for the defense by creating a stable water craft and a lance long enough to engage the Zombies at a distance. To create the stable watercraft you will lash two canoes together using two poles and 8 round lashings. To make the lance you will need to lash three pieces together into an extended pole (6 round lashings). Once your apparatus is complete you will paddle across the lake, lance and destroy a head sized water balloon, and return to the starting point. You will then disassemble both watercraft and lance, stack the parts neatly, and grunt your war cry. You will do this entire event wearing a properly fitted and secured PFD. (This event is timed. You will not be allowed to deploy until all lashings have been approved - including correct clove hitches. All canoe lashings must remain intact until the canoe has returned to the beach. The clock will not stop until all gear has been properly stacked and made up.) Dead Leg Lift Trapped and no place to run? Quickly moving debris or even (yuck!) body parts out of your path might mean the difference between becoming Zombie fodder and making a quick getaway. This is where those knots and lashings might come in handy 9/11/ :07:36 AM 12

Zombieland Twinkie Turn Forget those 100-calorie snack packs! You need sugar and you need it NOW. Collect all the Twinkies to keep your body fueled and ready for action! COrPsE Course This event requires a keen eye and nerves of steel. We have uncovered Zombie Hives within the depths of Cutter Scout Reservation. The only way to destroy the Hives is to drop a vial of toxic chemicals while traveling at breakneck speed on a Zip Line. Can you do it?! INVASTION TRAINING CENTERS AND ZOMBIE DEFENSE CENTERS WILL REOPEN AFTER DINNER, FOLLOWED BY THE EVENING CAMPFIRE PROGRAM. BEWARE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ZOMBIES! 9/11/ :07:36 AM 13
