Upcoming Events!! February is Dental Health Month! February 20th-24th Winter Break- March 16th -Teacher Workshop The School Messenger system uses the contact information you provide to the district. A weekly phone call or (if the address is provided) will be placed to the parent/guardians of student accounts with low or negative balances. We hope this service is a convenient way for you to manage your student lunch accounts. Remember, you may also check the status of your children s meal balances by using your child s account on MyNutrikids.com.~ If you know that your student s lunch account is low or negative and do not receive a lunch balance call from MSAD 40 during the week of February 27th, please call your school s office and make sure the contact information they have for you is accurate. Parents and Guardians are encouraged to call the Food Service Director at the Central Office at with any questions or concerns they may have concerning the SAD #40 Food Service Program.~ We thank you for entrusting us with feeding your children daily, and we look forward to providing this service to you for years to come. Come join us on Saturday, Feb 25 at the Hahn Center wearing your bright colors. Starting at 4pm, children with their parents, will have the opportunity to work on or take home a wood craft, play table games, look over the Friendship Museum pictures or watch the movies of different Friendship Day events. 2 Waldoboro Little League Seeks Volunteers Waldoboro Little League has begun planning for the 2012 season and is looking for interested volunteers to assist. Meetings are scheduled for Feb 3rd, Feb 16th and March 1st at 6:00pm at the Waldoboro Fire Station and are open to the public. Meetings will include topics such as: coaches and umpire training, game scheduling, league operations, fundraising, field maintenance, divisions of play and more. Little League, founded in 1939 in Williamsport, Pa., is the world s largest youth sports program with more than 2.8 million children and 1 million volunteers in more than 100 countries. More than 30 million people have played in Little League programs. Waldoboro Little League played its first season in This year, it is expected that over 200 children ages 5 to 12 will compete in several divisions of play in baseball and softball at Waldoboro Little League. The league is also looking for volunteers interested in umpiring youth baseball and softball games this year and will be offering informational training sessions for those interested. If you've ever wanted to help out, but reluctantly declined because you just weren't sure what you were getting yourself into, or you have a basic knowledge of the game and want to freshen your skills, or you have no idea how to umpire, but want to learn, then these training sessions are for you. Training sessions will focus on rules, mechanics (how to position yourself for the call) and etiquette. Please consider getting involved, the League needs you! Medomak Valley High School Varsity baseball coach Scott Hastings will be offering a free baseball clinic for MSAD 40 residents in grades 3-8. The clinic will run on Sundays from February 26 to March 25 3:00-4:30 in the MVHS gym. The focus of the clinic is throwing and fielding. Proper pitching and hitting mechanics will also be introduced. Players should wear appropriate baseball attire, sneakers and should bring their baseball glove. The Harlem Rockets, a talented group of basketball entertainers who combine incredible showtime basketball skills and family-friendly comedy will face the Coastal Dream Team in a game benefiting the Special Olympian Athletes, the Coastal Navigators. Having played over 2500 games in 16 years without a single defeat, the Harlem Rockets offer something for everyone to enjoy. Sports enthusiasts will be intrigued by the athleticism and size of the Rockets including. Basketball aficionados will be dazzled by the ball-handling wizardry of Shawn The Dribbler Leggett. Shawn is one of the world s extraordinary dribblers. Satiated by the game of Terry Magician McKenzie and left awestruck by Angelo TNT Gordon.
